I have been thinking about Arnav’s phobia about having children. We agree it has something to do with Anjali. I think the baby somehow died either natural or not. Arnav tried to save it but was unable to. Somehow the villagers played into the death of either the baby, Anjali or both which is why he hates that place so much.

After the baby died, was killed or through inaction died, Anjali committed suicide. Something happened that he tried to stop, was prevented from stopping or inadvertently caused that he never told anyone. And, his father blamed him and the family was torn apart.

Hence, Chote always do the right thing and his terrible guilt which has clouded his life and is now tearing it apart.

My thoughts which seem plausible until we know more.

This is what I wrote on page 10.

I fooled around and was able to finally get it to transfer. I am not a big fan of every little thing being copied and pasted to each response. It takes up a lot of space on a thread and if it’s long not all of it often pertains to the response given.

In my opinion Anjali is alive not sure about what is the situation with her child or children though.

I remember pausing and rereading the sections..I highlighted. It was odd that he was in a emotional low state. He has lot of professional struggles/setbacks..so maybe it was that and he was busy. But promised to be together on anniversary.

His negative reactions are always what that village does to women. So maybe second child was also a girl...

Ok..Tashi..I will wait for the chapter. This speculation will make me angry, miserable

both these things are too confusing. I find myself agreeing to both yours and ashivin’s version.

I do think that separation seems to be a professional decision and also, things seemed way better between Arnav and Khushi till premiere of the film. Which also released during year end in 2009.

At the same time since everything points to October, I think something did happen to Anjali and the baby after that which has resulted in Arnav thinking he failed his di and he doesn’t want to emotionally attach himself to a baby like his di did. Maybe that’s why he said di chose to leave him. Maybe it’s because of the baby. And it will sting a lot because he now had so much money and he still failed to do something for his sister.

at the same time, if something like this has happened then Khushi is already aware. Remember she and Arnav were not talking and she was concerned that this year he has no trip and he was going to be in india. She offered to stay back despite not talking so I’m sure she is aware of what happened to Anjali. But she and Akash may not be aware of extent of Arnav’s guilt. Maybe they do think it’s an accident and Arnav knows it’s suicide.

Yes, I said long back, that I think the October puja is a Barsi for Anjali, the baby or both. Khushi and Akash both know but like you said not the full story.

I’m trying to find the post but gosh, there is so much to plow through. Now that I know how to cut and paste successfully it will help clarify things for me. However, I will only use it sparingly as often it just doesn’t add anything to an argument but just needlessly adds to the length of the thread. Then it makes it even harder to go back and find things.

Yes Bollybabe, you have been predicting this all along and I agree with you.

Something to do with Anjali and her baby and the villagers playing negative roles. Something major happened where he was in-charge, others don't know exactly (Khushi was surprised when he said NO to baby, so indicates she is not aware else she would have never asked for the baby in the first place or gone route of counseling etc.) and this Arnav loves to live in guilt so we will see what happens next.

Where is Arpita? Anxiously waiting...

Arnav does muse after reading Khushi’s letter that in the past his decisions taken in haste has hurt the people involved, so this time though he wants to run and get Khushi back he has to be careful.

Also, Arnav is not only guilty but holds his father responsible too.

Khushi is definitely aware about something but may be not everything.

May be Arnav’s decisions taken in haste she is not aware of.

I know I never knew I would be dreading Lunatics chapter also ( don’t know what all she has done) so the more we think the more it makes us sad.
