Hi Arpita,

Firstly I apologise for not commenting earlier….

I love love love the story and you are a Brilliant Writer! The way you evoke emotions in your readers is incredible…. Every time i read a chapter… i would feel sooo heavy…. Sometimes i would take several breaks while reading, just to gather my self… especially during the previous chapter (chapter 8). I had wept towards the end, after reading khushi’s letter… such is your writing…. You manage to make us feel so deeply for the characters…. Kudos to you….

Now coming to the story, i always had an inkling that Khushi knew about lavanya and more so after reading chapter 8. I guess what changed in a day for Khushi was her learning about Arnav’s infidelity. In Lavanya’s Interlude, Manali says that Lavanya might just get what she wants now…. So i feel it was Manali who called Khushi on her anniversary and told her about Arnav and Lavanya. Not only that, i guess she played on Khushi’s insecurities and told her that she is a misfit in Arnav’s world and that Arnav is truly unhappy with her…. I believe Manali did that after Arnav told Lavanya in the Prologue that his divorce with Khushi doesn't mean that he is planning to marry her…. I guess Manali did this to drive Khushi away from Arnav, because she always knew that Khushi was Arnav’s weakness… i just hope that the version that khushi know’s (where he was sleeping with lavanya when she was in lucknow, that too in their bed) is fabricated by Manali…. If this version is true, then Arnav doesn’t deserve her forgiveness and a second chance…

My heart goes out to Khushi…. Everything that she believed in turned out to be an illusion and everyone she loves have only disappointed her, including her parents! I just want her to emerge stronger and confident…. She deserves happiness! How much does she love Arnav…. The letter gives a glimpse of her immeasurable love and her words - “i love you enough to overlook nearly anything” just shows that all she ever wants is him and only him! But does Arnav really deserve that kind of limitless love? Yes he has accepted his mistake, but can he undo the hurt? Where is the 24 yr old Arnav who was tormented by the thought of losing Khushi? Is he the same guy who was irritated by her mere presence and wanted to leave her…. What has changed over the years to bring about this change in him?
I feel Arnav always has preconceived notions about things and then changes his mind. Be it his marriage with Khushi, when he thought he wouldn’t really like her to later feeling that she made his life better and that he loved her…. Or when he thought that Mahesh was an amazing boss and then resented him later…. Similarly, Arnav thought that divorce was the best solution because he assumed that Khushi was unhappy with him because he didn’t want children…. And probably also because he could no longer stand her for reasons which he can not even recollect now! Now, he realises that it was his biggest mistake…. But alas, it is a realisation too late…. If only he din’t assume things and communicated instead. He knows that Khushi is a sensitive person and doesn’t say anything that might hurt the other person, so he should have been the one to take the initiative and talk to her about how he feels and what he thinks…. Communication is the key in any relationship but arnav seems to go off it everytime there is a crisis in his personal relationships (including his family). Now how is he going to redeem himself and make Khushi believe in him… She was begging him to give her something to hold onto in the letter and he gave her none. Infact, he snatched away the remaining hope through his infidelity and the way he chose to broke the news of divorce….. if he loved her enough, he wouldn’t have discussed divorce with others even before discussing it with her….. he some how fell out of love in his journey to fame and power….
I hope this is the resurgence of his love for Khushi and Khushi’s resurgence of confidence in herself.
Thank you Arpita for writing this beautiful story….. somehow it feels so personal… maybe because i’ve kind of seen bits of the story around me… through this story you are keeping alive two characters that we’ve all fallen in love with 12 yrs ago…. IPKKND was the only serial i’ve watched so far and Arnav and Khushi were amazing! Obviously coz of the writing and of course Barun and Sanaya…. Their chemistry was something else…. You and several other talented writers have kept these characters alive through your writings and are satisfying the fandom who were very upset when the show ended!
cheers to you👏🏻

I’d say we have covered 3/4th of the things that are supposed to happen story wise. Number of chapters may still be half, because a lot of past needs to be covered. So maybe another 10-11 chapters before we say bye. But that’s just an estimate :)

I just reread a couple of the earlier chapters. Manali seems to be admonishing Lavenya for something she did. I am wondering if La somehow told Khushi or made sure Khushi found out about their affair. Lavenya seemed awfully worried that Arnav would not go through with the divorce. Many readers seem to be painting Manali as the villain when in my mind the villain is Lavenya. Manali enables La. She cleans up after her and tries to head off trouble. Any woman or man for that matter, who knowingly sleeps with a married person deserves only scorn and condemnation in my book. I don’t care how unhappy the married person is.

Also, the photo was taken on a terrace. There is a lot of talk in the earlier chapters of a partly secluded terrace at the penthouse. Khushi was mainly living in Shantivan so the penthouse was available to Arnav for his despicable liaisons. This was also his and Khushi’s home. And there are less staff involved at the penthouse. Arnav mentions sending the staff home when he takes Khushi to the penthouse when returning from the village. He says they used to often stay there alone.

In one of the earlier chapters it is also mentioned that the Shantivan staff were wondering where Khushi was. They were probably used to her being gone a lot to Lucknow. So Shantivan was probably not the home and bed referred to as the staff would probably be aware.

Did Arnav go alone to New Zealand? He was trying new and daring things like bungee jumping. What else could have happened there that he thought may never be found out? Just a thought. Some of my thoughts have been confirmed about earlier events an then there were a few surprises by our master of twists and turns.

Of course. It is a story of Arnav's journey. So more why Arnav has changed..why he wanted for once to do/get what he likes.. his parents..his affair etc.

Bakwas, did I miss something? Where is it refuted that Lavenya wasn’t the one to tell or make sure Khushi found out? If Manali did it, I would think it was at Lavenya’s request. Also, yes, Arnav doesn’t like Manali but I am getting the idea that besides being irritated with Lavenya he is tired of her too. Yeah, he probably liked sleeping with her but when she starts interfering with his life he doesn’t like it. He wants to be in control after all. La is getting too volatile.

It was a comment of mine when I claimed that La must have told Khushi in case Arnav drags his feet regarding divorce. Arpita response was that it would affect La career negatively

.so they dont want divorce talks to be out etc. I am paraphrasing.

True regarding Arnav likes to be under control😊..but still tolerates or humors La😊

My theory has been that he started divorce talks with lawyers after he slept with La. To him it was because of the sorry state of his marriage and that there is nothing left in it. Fits with his characterization..the guy does the right thing. The confession to Akash

he does not come across as a philanderer. Could have done it before. Why now ? Plus he has no love interest in La. Not that he has fallen for La.

Maybe I am wrong..

I have so many thoughts swirling in my head reading this chapter that I don’t know what upset me most. Most of the comments were bang on and I love the way you patiently reply to everyone.

It is so sad that times haven’t changed much even now in 2023 where people think a woman despite all her accomplishments and achievements still is incomplete without a man. I understand the extent to which Khushi’s parents are flawed but still their actions are not to hurt or endanger Khushi but as you rightly pointed out in an earlier comment they are bound by so many social and financial norms that it takes a really gutsy family to actually stand for what is right and support the child and fight against society. It’s a cruel world getting worse day by day. Fighting against society in theory or in a movie feels good but in practice that’s easier said than done. So despite their flaws I still feel for them. Having said that I don’t think Khushi reacting the way she did is wrong. For her, her family supporting her and understanding her is what she expected and this whole situation kind of made her feel worthless.

This is why I feel that every woman should be educated and independent. Minimum education and atleast able to support yourself in whatever way you can. That way you are less likely to be taken for granted by your family - whoever it maybe (parents or spouse) and it gives you a certain confidence.

Lastly I said previously that there are types of infidelity but Arnav seems to have chosen the worst way to do it from where there is no hope of any comeback. If what Khushi thinks is true then he has gone way beyond redemption.

Both Arnav and you as a writer have your work cut out for you. I do t know how I will survive till the next chapter but I will try 😜.

Thanks again for a brilliantly written early chapter

Khushi had loved Arnav beyond anything, and she got to know about his adultery and decision to divorce her on their wedding anniversary, double whammy! Arnav already had a lawyer, everything figured out for himself and she was rushed into things and never got to absorb the changes in her life! Her natural decision was to run to her loved ones and breathe, but there also she faced different reality, rather heart breaking one! Maybe she was in denial, her family’s value system making her wear Mangal sutra and Bindi,we don’t know yet… I am afraid it’s not yet the rock bottom for Khushi, knowing Manali and Lavanya can be monstrous, and she must face them…Arnav has lot of soft corner for Lavanya, he hasn’t taken any strong actions against the duo! His threatening of revenge was hollow!

Khushi is no doubt depressed right now but the best thing happened is she is back in Mumbai.. Now Khushi has time to process things while Arnav is forced to tell her the truth about his affair and his thought process during that time! The last three months have made Khushi face more than she could handle but she is deciphering situations well. Maybe the catering opportunity Mahesh and Arnav talked about dissolving, Khushi should take it and move to Hyderabad!

Currently Khushi is blaming herself for being in this situation but the day she realizes it’s purely him who lacked morale, I want to see how Arnav handles from being her hero to zero, How he will feel when he sees no love or respect for him any more in her eyes! This will be a bigger punishment than divorce and he truly deserves it! Maybe Khushi should look into his eyes and ask when the last time was, he f***ed Lavanya and was he two timing bas…rd too? In my understanding his sex life with Lavanya started after him and Khushi completely stopped interacting, rather he started avoiding her like a plague… Like 2-4 months before he applied for divorce, and he did not indulge with Lavanya after applying for divorce! But this Arnav has no ethics or morals so anything is possible. I can’t believe few months before he was all about doing the right thing…

I have ZERO trust in Arnav who is flipping just after reading Khushi’s letter! Arnav admitted to himself, he has been preparing for this divorce for months even though Payal and Akash didn't approve his decision! And he wanted divorce asap without counselling, remember his talk with lawyer Naina. And even Naina knew about Lavanya Kashyap and his adultery.. He was convinced he missed Khushi because he was used to her, guilty of sending her back into the darkness and the baby issue. But he never ever feels he still loves her, nor he said it to her! Huge sticking point… Khushi needed his love, nothing out of guilt and shame! He is still not ready for the baby though he loves Lehr so he better have extremely valid excuse! He clearly wanted to continue with Lavanya after lying low for few days! Let Lavanya be emotional and do something foolish like fake suicideas last resort, he will be running to Lavanya then, knowing he can walk in and out of Khushi’s life anytime like a free ride?? Such a righteous and responsible man can always protect two women, right? This is exactly why I said Arnav is equally devil for naïve Khushi!

As Arpita confirmed, Khushi sent a strong message by tearing the love note, before she wanted him back but definitely not after knowing his adultery.. Arnav is yet to realise this! And losing family's love is a wake up call for Khushi to find her calling and independence and not wait until Arnav goes back to Lavanya or find next chick! She should also live life to the fullest by having her own baby, sacrificing her desires for Arnav anymore is useles...

Arpita, this chapter was the toughest to read, only because I cannot read about this broken Khushi anymore.

I did not comment earlier because I wanted to gather my thoughts after getting a hold on my emotions.

Shyam has not changed one bit. I don't know why Khushi was meeting him again and again even after knowing he is a creep.

Coming to the past episode, there was a time when Arnav could not even imagine living without Khushi even for a moment. The accident brought out his worst fears and it also told us how much they were in love with each other. And it also makes me understand how Khushi could never have imagined that a day would come where they will go separate ways.

And like she says, her life became everything around him. His family problems became her priority. In this decade journey, she only saw herself as his wife, his parent's DIL etc.

After lot of thoughts, I want to say one aspect of Khushi here.

She does not share what is happening in her life or in her mind with her parents or anyone is my understanding.

From the time she has returned to her parent's village, she has been grieving, crying and has been miserable. Her parents or Buaji has no clue why she is getting divorced. From their POV, she is missing Arnav like crazy.

Secondly even from the first meeting, she knows that Shyam has not changed and there is something really fishy with the way his wife died. Yet she never raised these points with her parents or Buaji and continues to meet him and the child and talk to them. Even after the intimacy talks, she has again agreed to meet him alone.

If she wants to give that kind of power to her parents about her life decisions, then at the least she should tell them the facts, isn't it?

When Arnav came, they sent her back with him. Why wouldn't they? According to them, she is miserably missing her husband and it is right she goes back and sees if the marriage can be salvaged. In the last one decade, Khushi has been extremely happy with Arnav. She has never spoken anything negative about him. So why will they think that this marriage cannot be salvaged?

I really want to know that if Khushi had told them about the child issue or about him cheating on her, would they still have sent her back with him immediately?

Same goes with Shyam issue. She came back running home after he manhandled her. She was only scrubbing her hands but she did not tell them anything. How will they know what happened if she does not open up?

Imagine if Shyam had become careful after her intimacy talks and had married her and later forced himself on her, what would she have done?

Her character has been questioned by the village panchayat, even then she does not open up to her parents.

I am saying it again, if she has given her parents complete power to take decisions about her life, then should she not tell them the facts?

Either she tells them the facts or takes control of her life, if she does not do this, then she will forever be miserable.

As much as my heart breaks for her, she really need to stand up now for herself.

Khushi needs counselling and I don't know how, but someone needs to tell her to become stronger, gradually.

Coming to Lavanya issue, I thought Arnav slept with her once. Did he have like a long affair with her?

I don't even want to think about him and La now.

Well written chapter Arpita.
