Prologue
London... the world's most visited city, an investment bank for business people seeking opportunities.. And she is one of them.. Khushi Kumari Gupta, the nerd.. or some says the silent geek.. Unbelievable, right? But it's true.. Behind her huge goggles is hidden a sharp minded student.. topper of the year.. an ambitious soon to be businesswoman with dreams to reach the sky. This one month internship is her once in a lifetime opportunity. From the class front desk straight to London streets..
"Finally made it", she smiled, admiring the beauty of big ben. She took off her granny's spectacles and let the cool air bathing her skin while her mid long hairs flied in the wind.
"Madamji, this is your first time in London?", the taxi driver looked at her into the front mirror.
Khushi turned her gaze towards him, nodding.. "Haan ji sardarji", she replied..
Sardarji was stunned and laughed, "are.. aap to indian hain ji! Welcome ji welcome...".
"thank you", she said.
"Mention not ji.. aap kahan se hain ji, mumbai??" , sardarji asked..
"Delhi se", she replied grimacing.. the continuous chatterbox began to spoil her sight seeing..
"Kissi kam se aayi hain ya chuti manane!", Sardarji asked curiously..
"Student hoon.. delhi university se.. Internship ke liye aayi hoon..", she said absently, lost into the huge buildings of London..
A few minutes later, the taxi halted in front of a grand appartment, the urbanest tower bridge.. "Lo ji aaya apki destination", the sardarji exclaimed..
Khushi stepped out and stared at the surroundings.. It was not a residential area but the closest available to the company she'd be doing her internship. A smile quirked up the corners of her lips.. "One month", she thought.. "Thank you Sardarji", she said when the latter brought her luggage to her and she handed out the amount stated on the fare meter...
"Mention not ji... yeh lije mera card.. koi bhi problem.. zaroor yaad rakna mujhe... acha mein chalta hoon", sardarji replied and got back into the driver's seat.
Khushi watched him pulled away towards the traffic and then she walked into the building. She spotted a few students going out but the reception was deserted.. "hello, anyone here", she called out, standing against the counter as she tried to peek through the staff's door half opened.
A young british boy finally came out smilingly.. "Hello mme.. sorry to keep you waiting.. may I help you?", he asked, pushing his specs on his nose.
Khushi nodded, "Hi.. I'm khushi kumari gupta... I have a reservation... student internship!"...
The receptionist looked down into his register and chuckled, "oh yeah.. indian... Room 464.. seems like you going to feel like home with an indian neighbour.. Lucky you!". Khushi stared at him with a confused look. "Mr. Raizada, here's your keys", the receptionist said looking to the young stud with messy hairs. Stunned, Khushi turned her gaze to the guy standing behind her. Her eyes popped out...
"Tum", she shouted...
Flashback
"oh my goodness... he looked at me", Payal jumped at khushi's neck excitedly. Khushi rolled her eyes, shaking her head. She lowered her gaze back to her book while munching potato chips. "Dekhna Khushi... how handsome he is", Payal gave her an elbow kick.
"aww.. Payal let me study...", Khushi replied dryly and suddenly Payal grabbed the book from her. "What the hell.. Give me back my book", Khushi irritatingly cried out as she snatched her book back..
"Book... you really mean this.. that big.. it looks like an encyclopedia to me..", payal laughed..
"Whatever", Khushi said out, ignoring Payal's sarcasm.
"It's the last day of university.. and you are studying, seriously! Ok jokes apart... do you realize that some people actually don't know that you exist..", Payal taunted worriedly.
Khushi smiled at her, "exactly... and I'm very happy with it.. I'm here to study and not to make friends.. some people see me as a nerd and some do not see me at all.. i don't care! I'm not interested to know or talk with these people who are here just to show off their expensive cars and new clothes everyday. Because I have a real life unlike them".
Payal shook her head, "ok fine.. i know that... but him.. ", she turned her gaze towards the table in the other side of the cafetaria.. "Arnav Singh Raizada", she exclaimed staring at the sexiest boy in awe, her hand under her chin and elbows on the table.
"You are impossible", Khushi exclaimed.. "and stupid", she added..
Payal turned to her.. "How can you be so insensible to Arnav's charm... he's so cute... sooo gentle.. kindhearted and on top of it so hot.. Seeing him makes me feel weak in my knees... He's like the cherry on the cake..".
Khushi lifted her eyes towards Arnav.. She smirked.. "Ever talked to him?", Khushi asked.. Payal shook her head in denial.. "Then, how can you say that he's kind hearted", Khushi raised her eyebrows questioningly.
"Because he is", Payal retorted..
"He's not", Khushi riposted back... "He's just a rich spoilt kid with brand new cars and a ready made office in daddy's company..", she added straightly..
Payal stared at her sadly... "You know Khushi... it's not his crime if he was born rich", Payal said.
Khushi let a sarcastic laugh as she said out, "but for people like him, it's a crime to be born as a maid's daughter like me".
Payal suddenly stood.. and Khushi was startled... "No way!", Payal exclaimed.. "I can't believe that he's like that.. Arnav Singh Raizada is like the prince of Delhi University", she added angrily..
Khushi laughed out, "why don't you ask him then.. he's walking towards you".
Payal turned back and stared at Arnav.. He was hot... striding the cafetaria, barking furiously on his phone... Payal was frozen, lost into his long messy hairs.. his perfect face.. his masculin body... wearing orange jeans and white tshirt. Arnav passed by Payal and walked out of the cafetaria.. Khushi broke into a laugh, bringing Payal back from her reverie. "Why are you laughing?", Payal asked..
"Orange jeans.. too funny man", Khushi said, giggling..
"He's original", Payal defended.. "And I'm gonna prove you today that he's not the guy you think he is", she added.
Khushi looked at her curiously, "oh is that so... wondering how you gonna do that?", Khushi said...
"Simple.. by talking to him, and becoming his friend..", Payal replied smiling while Khushi looked at her stunned.. and shook her head as she said firmly..
"Listen drama queen.. you are overreacting.. you don't need to do that..".
"Well.. too late.. he's coming back", Payal ran to Arnav as he entered back the cafetaria. She stopped in front of Arnav blocking his way... Khushi stared at them in horror while Arnav fixed at Payal angrily, "What?" he asked.. Payal smiled shyly and gave out her hands to Arnav.. "Hi... I'mm.. Payal... from your class...".. Arnav stared at her from top to toe.. confused, "so?", he asked.
"Strange na.. we are in same class since more than a year.. and we never talk.. I thought.. we cou... could be fr... friends..", Payal stammered her last few words but managed a smile..
Arnav glared at her fumingly and barked out loud... " Friends? You want to be friends.. and then?".. Shocked, Payal turned her gaze to the surroundings.. All the students were staring at her and she felt like running away. She lowered her eyes in embarassement.. "Then I tell you.. we'll be friends... then a date.. then maybe a one night stand.. what say..", he added.. A tear rolled down Payal's eyes while Khushi fumed in anger.. "Girls like you are just bloody golddiggers and I kn...", Arnav's words went unfinished as a slap echoed into the caferia while shock appeared on everyone's face.. His cheeks were burning hot as he fixed into the eyes of Khushi, the nerd... "And guys like you... a useless asshole.. a scumbag... a pig enjoying daddy's money and fame!", Khushi said out loud before she grabbed Payal's arms and strode out of the cafetaria.
Flashback Ends
Arnav Singh Raizada stood straight, looking into Khushi's eyes.. He smirked and took the keys from the receptionist. As he was about to turn away, he said sarcastically, "nice to meet you...neighbour!"... and he disappeared into the elevator.
