Hi All,
I am Hamsa (my pen name of course). I love IPK and Arshi. I have been a silent reader for more than a year now and I have read so many wonderful stories here. Some stories have made me cry; some have made me laugh out like crazy; some had taken a place in my heart. I salute to all the wonderful writers out there for giving me a chance to escape in to the "sapnon ki duniya" of our favorite Arshi.

After reading so many stories here, I was inspired to try writing something on my own. The writers here are my inspiration.

I have to thank my 4 besties who have supported me in this venture. They have encouraged me to try it out and boosted my morale whenever I couldn't get the words right. I would forever be grateful to them for giving me the courage to post my work.

Arshi TS on next post.

I have felt that Khushi had not been much of Arnav's Priority in the show. So I have tried writing something based on that. Please read and let me know your views.

Changing Priorities - Part 1

"Arnavji... I feel like going to temple... can we go today?"

"No Khushi... Di wants to go for shopping. So I am going with her."

"Arnavji... Can we go for shopping today?"

"Di wants to go to mandir Khushi you take Payal with you."

"Arnavji it has been a long time.. Can we go on a dinner date today?"

"I have to buy some things for Di Khushi.. I will probably be late. We will go some other time."

"Arnavji I have cooked your favorite dishes today. Please come home soon."

"Sorry Khushi... Di has called me to go out for dinner with her. You keep it in fridge I will have it tomorrow."

Khushi was disappointed... it has been just 6 months since their marriage. But Arnav doesn't spend much time with her. She remembered the initial days of their marriage.

Theirs was an arranged marriage. Arnav's Nani was Khushi'sbua'ssatsang friend. One day when Anjali, Arnav's sister accompanied nani, she met Khushi who had come to drop her bua in the temple. After few meetings Anjali liked khushi and asked for her hand in marriage for Arnav. Though Khushi was hesitant at first, she accepted after meeting Arnav.

Arnav loved the childlike innocence and chirpiness of Khushi. He understood that she adored Anjali like her own sister. So Arnav said yes to the marriage.

Arnav is handsome but what attracted Khushi was the love he had for his Di and nani. He would do anything for them. She had always believed that a guy who loves the women in his family will respect his wife too.

Their marriage was fixed in a month and before they knew it they were married.

Nani decided to give some privacy to the newly wedded couple and went on a pilgrimage. The first 2 months was blissful. Arnav could not stay away from khushi and so was khushi. The attraction they felt from their first meeting started blooming into something more beautiful.

But this happiness was short-lived for khushi.Arnav was ruthless ASR in business world but he was a softie to his nani and di. His nani's and di's happiness was of utmost importance to him. Rest of the world be damned. Unfortunately he forgot to include his wife in this protective cocoon of his. Not that he treated her bad but even after marriage not once was she his priority. And that was a blow to Khushi.

As soon as Anjali announced the news of her pregnancy, Arnav started giving more attention to her. Khushi was very happy for Anjali. She made it a practice that she would cook Anjali's favorite dishes atleast once a week and visit her. Anjali was living with her husbandShyam in another part of Delhi.

A few days laterShyam had to leave for a business trip for the next few months. Anjali refused to come to Arnav's home to stay. So nani cut short her pilgrimage and came to stay with her. After a week Anjali started calling Arnav for every small thing. She missed her husband and craved for the unconditional love the men in her life immersed her in all their life. Anjali had always been the centre of Arnav's world. He had promised his deceased momma that he will take care of her always. Now with DI being pregnant and jiju out of country, his sense of responsibility grew out of proportion so much so that he started ignoring Khushi unknowingly.

Today it was too much for her to bear. It was her birthday and Arnav had forgotten it. She tried to tell him discretely but he did not pay attention to her. He then left with Anjali for her regular doctor appointment. Khushi waited for him to come home but he called to inform her of Di's first sonogram and said that he is going to celebrate with Di and will come home late.

Before he disconnected, Khushi managed to say,"Arnavji... Its my b'day today."

"Oh Happy b'day Khushi. Are you not going to meet your parents then?"

"No Arnavji... I thought..."

"Listen Khushi Di is waiting for me. You carry on with your tasks. Will meet you at night."

He disconnected the call oblivious to a shattered Khushi on the other end.

Khushi did not know what to feel. She knew his sister was everything to him. He had said so himself when they went on dates before marriage. But she did not expect him to ignore her on her b'day. She had wanted to spend her time with him today but here she was sitting alone at home on her special day.

Khushi was lost in thoughts. She did not know when tears started flowing from her eyes. She cried herself to sleep in the living room couch.

Arnav returned home late at night. He was happy for his Di. The baby was healthy and so was his Di. He had seen the baby for the first time. He had wanted to celebrate this joy with his family. In all this he had forgot to wish Khushi and get a gift for her. He came home and rang the doorbell. Not receiving any response from inside, he was confused as Khushi used to wait up for him till he comes whatever time it maybe. He used to the spare key and opened the door. The house was immersed in darkness.

"Where did Khushi go? Why didn't she turn on the lights? She is afraid of darkness and the last time she had been in dark, she had fainted in panic. OMG is she well?" he thought to himself and hurriedly switched on the lights. What he saw confused him.

He rushed to the couch and made her lie down on his lap. The tear stains he saw on her face made his heart constrict. He didn't know what made her cry this much on her b'day. He promised himself to ask her that first thing in the morning. He touched her face to wipe off her tears and he retracted his hand immediately. She was burning up. He was worried and scared now. He carried her to their room and made her lie on the bed. Through all this khushi did not wake up. He caressed her cheek and tried to wake her up. But she did not even move. He went to the kitchen to get water and found that she had cooked but had not eaten anything. He took a plate of dinner for her, a bowl of water and a cloth. He woke her up with difficulty and he let out his breadth which he didn't know he was holding in when she opened her eyes.

Fresh tears started flowing from her eyes when she saw him. She turned her face away and got up from the bed. She felt dizzy and was unable to balance herself. She closed her eyes tightly when Arnav caught her and made her sit in the bed again.

"Khushi, what happened why are you crying?"

Khushi did not want to reply. She turned her face away from him. Arnav was confused by her behavior. He turned her face towards him and asked again. Khushi just stared at him.

"Khushi, did you eat anything from morning? Even the breakfast has not been touched. What happenedKhushi? It's your b'day today and you have remained hungry. Did you go to meet your parents and have your lunch and dinner there?"

Khushi's phone rang at that moment. When Khushi made no attempt to attend the call, Arnav took her phone and checked the caller. It was Khushi's mom. He attended the call and put it on speaker phone.

"Bitiya are you well? Why didn't you attend my calls from morning? I have been calling your phone and house phone from morning. But you didn't attend at all."

Arnav was shocked to hear this. Khushi got the mobile from him and spoke to her mom.

"Maa I went out with Arnavji. I forgot my mobile at home. We reached home just now. I am very tired ma. I will call you tomorrow."

"Ok Khushi. Happy b'day beta. One minute. Papa wants to talk to you."

"Khushi Happy b'day beta."

"Thank you papa. I will talk to you tomorrow."

Khushi couldn't control her sobs anymore. She disconnected the call before her parents could hear her sob and rushed to the bathroom. She came out after a long time hoping that Arnav would have slept. But he was there waiting for her with dinner. She avoided him and went to her side of the bed.

"Khushi eat this and then go to sleep."

"I don't want anything."

"Khushi please.." but even before he could finish, she lied down and closed her eyes. Arnav knew from her posture that it was futile to ask her to eat now. He placed the dishes on the table and went to lie down with her. He went near her and hugged her from behind. Khushi tried to wriggle out of his grasp. But he just tightened his hold. Feeling too tired to fight now, Khushi just closed her eyes and drifted to a disturbed sleep.

Arnav looked at his wife. He suddenly felt that she had grown thinner than before. Her face was tired not just coz of crying today. There were dark circles under her eyes. A tell tale of many sleepless nights. Arnav felt bad. How had he not seen this all these days? How could he have ignored her when she had always made sure of his wellbeing? He felt sick of himself.

He applied wet cloth to her forehead to bring down the fever and caressed her hair and her cheeks. She snuggled into his warmth holding his palm tight with her hands. His heart constricted seeing her.

"Chotte one day you will meet someone in your life who's every emotion will affect you. If she is happy you will feel as if you are the luckiest man on earth. If she feels sad, you will feel a pain so deep that you will do anything to bring a smile on her face. If she leaves you physically or emotionally, your breath will stop. And that is when you know you have fallen in love Chotte." Anjali had told him this many times and he had royally ignored it every time.

But now every single word his Di said seems to be true. He had fallen in love with this child-woman. His child-woman. Arnav smiled at this thought and promised himself to take care of his love from that moment.

Arnav really didn't know how to prioritize his responsibilities towards his sister and his wife at times!
