Coz everytime we touch I get this feeling and everytime we kiss I swear I can flyyy..
The confines of her bedroom was filled with the totally off key voice singing the song. But Khushi was far from any hesitation or realization. Warmth curling merrily in her heart and evident happiness on her face told a story of their own.
Since the day of his birthday, something had changed. Its not like she wasn't aware of it before that. But now the difference was that it didn't confuse her anymore. Agreed, that he was still the workaholic khadoos in the office. But if the frequent gazes, light caresses and shifting of her desk in front of his line of vision were anything to go by, then there is no reason her heart shouldn't go dhuduk dhuduk, Khushi thought with a silly grin plastered on her face.
Moonlight streaming in silvery beams, the light shadows on the walls, the rotating ceiling fan , the reddish orange dot like light of mosquito coil, the monkeys on her night suit, smell of her shampooed hair.. Everything is so beautiful, Khushi mused, smile refusing to leave her lips. Picking up her cell phone, she googled out a few images with heartwarming love quotes. And with enthusiam sent one of them to Arnav. She has six more, she thought. One for each day of this week, yes!
With child-like anticipation, she kept checking her messenger to see if he has seen the image or not. It was still around 11pm and she was sure that he must be awake. After about 10 minutes, he was online, message seen and him then, offline.
Hmpf! Keeping aside the cell phone, with brows furrowed and a pout on her lips, she willed the sleep to take over. Now if only this irritating mosquito coil smell could just vanish!

Arnav came into the office, nodding and replying to everyone wishing him a good morning. Reaching near to his desk, he looked towards Khushi, only to find her head bent, seemingly immersed in his work. Very unlike her. His brows furrowed slightly in question and keeping his gaze fixed on her, he took off his laptop bag and settled down fir his work.
Minutes later, he called for a short meeting. Having explained them the nitty-gritty of a few things he waited for them to disperse. Khushi would usually wait back for a few minutes on such occasions. On pretext of anything under the Sun but the actual reason their hearts knew well. As the last person walked out, he found her too collecting her things and start walking out. Confusion marring his face and words frozen in his mouth, he watched her move out without a second glance in his direction. Calming down his nerves and refusing to acknowledge the mild hurt in the region of his heart, he moved out too.
Time flew by as everyone got busy in their work. At around two, very unlike him to have his lunch on time, yet today, something propelled him from his seat. We should have our meals on time, his mind provided the reason stupidly. Coming out of his glass cabin and walking upto her desk, he pointed out," Its lunch time. Lets go and order something for both us from the cafetaria."
It was immediately met by ,"Humein bhookh nahi hai..", straightfaced.
He thinned his lips and let out a deep breath. What has gotten into her! This was getting too much.
He walked back upto his desk, picked up a file and came back to her. "These are the details of all the pending cases of the last month. They should be logged in by 4pm today". Keeping the file not so kindly on her desk , he walked away to the cafe.
Khushi looked at the file and then back to him. Until now she was a bit angry but now it was converted to a heaviness in her heart. She knew that in no way she'll be able to complete this work in two hours. But what hurt her more that even if she was angry or hurt or whatever, he could have tried reassuring her in return in some way instead of getting high strung himself. Humaari toh koi importance hi nahi hai, she mused, looking back at him. He was now talking to Meneka. The new employee in their team who was not so subtle in showing her interest in Arnav Sir. See how she is grinning ear to ear. As if cat got the cream. Huh! With watery eyes, she picked up the file and started doing what she had been told to.
In the evening, finally around 6 when she was able to complete her work, she looked up, involuntarily glancing in his direction. His gaze met hers and he seemed to have been looking towards her since a while. Dropping her gaze from him, she got up, collected a few things and walked upto him.
"Sir,..here..Its all done." The dullness in her voice was evident yet the coldness in her demeanour was now absent. He didn't remove his eyes from her face and she faltered. Fidgeting with the edge of the file , she kept it on his table and as soon as she had turned, he spoke,"Coffee? In the nearby cafe outside? Il wind up in 15 mins."
"Kyaaa?" Eyes widened, she looked towards the clock. "Aap aur itni jaldi?!"
"So?" He questioned with a expression as if she grew horns on her head. Experiencing momentary freezing, she moved into action, the spring back in her step and with an "Okay!" she made a dash to settle her work and collect her things.

With the grin back to being plastered on her face and a satisfied sigh, she waited for him to return after placing the order. "Haaayy Khushi!", and it was enough to dampen her spirit. Meneka occupied the third vacant chair while the other one had Arnavs' bag on it.
"I heard Sir telling Parth that he is coming here. So since I had to clear a few doubts, I too came here" and then she cackled a bit. "Umm..Where is he?..Oh here he is.. hello Sir."
Glancing once at Khushis' face, he asked Meneka the reason of her being there. She opened her laptop and then Khushi zoned out of the conversation, looking out through the glass walls, as Arnav started pointing out things to Meneka. 20 minute's into it when she tuned back, she heard her saying, "Sir, aap hain na..isiliye sab sahi se ho raha hai, nahi toh abhi tak nahi ho pa raha tha..".
Pursing her lips, she was just about to tell Arnav that she'll now take her leave when he told Meneka,"Then you still have lots of learning to do..I guess you should take up the training scheduled for next week in the new branch office. For now, I'll take my leave..".
Collecting his bag, he asked,"Chalein Khushi?" and without waiting for a reply, he held her hand and lead her out.

Soft music filled in the confines of the car. A sense of deja vu enveloped Khushi as a peaceful smile settled on her lips. Wind played her hair even as she stole glances at Arnav. The ride seemed shorter and they were now standing in front of her home.
"Are we okay now?" he spoke softly. She knew why he asked that. "Okay kab nahi the?" she answered with a shrug. Arnav shook his head at that and without any preamble leaned forward to press a kiss on her cheek. The smile vanished from her lips with a lightening speed even as her face warmed up. Raising her fingers to her heated cheeks, she kept looking at him with a mild shock and then without saying anything, fumbled with the car door and literally ran her steps upto her house gate. Instantly coming to a halt, she turned back as a slow smile graced her lips. He laughed as she waved back at him. Everything beautiful around , a witness to their happiness.
