Episode 128

I hope tumhay farak nahin padta ...

A room full of people, yet it seems like it is just the two of them in the room. She sits, on the edge of the large plush living room sofa, three space over from him. He head bent, his hands that had been fussing with is blackberry all the while, still ... he slowly raises his head and turns to look at her. She immediately averts her face, her eyes sliding to the floor. He can see she is rattled. She repeatedly clenches her hand tightly in her lap, her breath short and shallow, her eyes restless.

He had just turned down the ring she had liked. A clear message to her, don't want to have anything to do with you. His relentless offensive is definitely paying off. She is positively at the edge of her seat. He feels a momentary twinge of regret. She seems so sad, so lost ... But ... This is a war.

Oh he knows what is he doing and that's what he wants , he wants her to snap so he can settle a score

He wants her backed into a corner ... No room to maneuver ... And until she gives in, he is going to keep at it. Not going down easy, this one ... He knows that well, can read it in the stiffness of her back. He wants her to scream it, just like he did yesterday ... Mujeh farak padta hai ... Hadn't he said it ??? Hadn't he said ... Mujeh farak padta hai damnit ... How can there be any doubt in her mind ... Your turn, Khushi ...

He challenged her that it doesn't matter ans he knows how to win but not this time.

The young sales man is courteously persistent, trying to make a sale. He offers to show her a number of things. Humnay nahin chaihay, she declines repeatedly, equally polite. But he persists ... Bilkul naya design hai, appay bahut accha lagayga. She declines again.

His head bent, his hands again uselessly fretting with his blackberry, he struggles to control his temper, dragging in air deeply ... Leave her alone !!! He wants to look up and snap at the young pup ... Did you not hear what she just said ?? Did she not say no five different
ways ?!?

The sales man is perceptive. He knows instantly the moment she spies something she likes. A simple set ... Aha ... A discerning customer ... Always a pleasure. Seems like she likes simple things ...

Simple ... Not even close ... He may, some day in the distant, distant future, mellow and calm down but until then, simple is the last thing he is ... He is as twisted as one of her jalabies ... He ran away ... He broke her heart ... He attempted to bind himself ... And now he is on a very private, very well devised, sustained offensive, all because she had the gall to go and get engaged ... All because he wants to hear what he wants to hear ...

It's either his way or no way.He is not simple.I think Jalaibis are simpler than him.Nice analogy

Simple bilkul mat kahiyay, Bhaiya ... Appallingly unreasonable, Fanatically singleminded, Heartlessly cold blooded, Feverishly hot blooded, Deviously twisted, coldly calculating ...

A Shatir dimag ...

Aap yeh sab kah dalliyay ... Dehakhayiay, aab Janab kya karnay jaa rahay hai ...

Mujeh yeh karidna hai, he tells the sales man flatly. She sees immediately, from a distance. Her heart stops, he wouldn't dare do this ... Would he ?

He saunters over, the jewel box in hand. Khushi ... he says, softy, his eyes locked with hers ... Pushing the open box in front of her numb hands. Dazed, her hands accept his gift. Her eyes unbelieving, her voice hesitant, she mouths, Aap yeh ...

He lifts the necklace out of the box and holds it in front of her. Aap ... She breathes ... He holds it aligned with her neck, memorizing her ... and then without moving his eyes from her face, says, Lavanya ...

His eyes do not leave her face, not when he pushes Lavanya's hair aside to drape the necklace on her neck, not when she turns and hugs him, thanking him.

He is a player and Khushiis no match of him.He can only be defeated with her innocence and that's will melt him.Her straight forwardness and honesty with her heart will show him that even it matters to her , she will not site against her family and values even if it will break her heart in this process.

He steps in front of her, his voice again lowered for just the two of them, Meinay tumhari pasand ka set Lavanya ko de diya ... I hope tumhay koi faraq nahin padta hai ...

Game, Arnav Singh Raizada.

Nice one Ipoona...👏 Love Jalaibi analogy with this character...

You asked me what am I trying to say...I mean Her Amma is saying which Arnav is trying here to show her the path towards him which she is not looking but she knows one thing that family and her respect is way above than anything and her belief on DM will show her and will lead her where her Amma's words are directing her...you will get all the happiness after marriage...

Amma is worried that her forceful decision has made her child sad and she is directing her thinking but Payal said ...listen to ur heart always and these recent events are tied up with Arnav as he wants her to accept it all mattered but she is as egoestic as he is and desn't want to hear or see it.

Ipoona,

Did you notice that his eyes were blood red when he walked in into RA when Khushi did not expect him ? Poor guy looked as if he did not sleep the entire night. No wonder he was taking it out on her. Sometimes I wonder how things would have been had Khushi been engaged to a normal likeable guy instead of Shyam. Ofcourse she loves ASR but she is also somebody who keeps her word and takes care of the happiness of all around her.

Thnx JJKKL -😊

Lovely thoughts up there👏

The hurt of loving some one and not getting to be loved demands sacrifice and that is coming from Khushi , not so much but in a small fraction.Arnav's comes in deep hurt after terrace scene. But I agreed with the courage to hold and convey your feelings verbally and physically.Love demands that and that's what ASR is missing and thinks she supposed to figure out by herself. His double minded phase is hurting her and he will soon realize it.

Thnx Mehreen 😊

Yes Khushi is sacrificing and will keep doing it but I feel and strongly feel because of his no accepting his love he sacrificed more than her...his pain was doubled regardless he did give her torture no doubt, stigmatize her no doubt but he was with her as her protector even in that time, but he was alone...burning and dying every moment in this love.

Happy new year to u too😊

Ipoona, your write up as simple yet powerful as that sequence itself. In that instant that day he confessed all the ways one could... in his gestures, in his words, in his eyes...he juts needed to hear that back from her.. the three words that implied everything doe them "farq padtha hai"..and unfortunately he would resort to anything / everything he could for that.. Loved everything esp those in red.

Reliving IPK

Episode 126

Jis say Pyar nahin karti

He watches as she walks into the house. After their usual brief, unable to take eyes off of each other moment, her eyes slide off, refusing to meet his, scanning the floor ...

He reads her easily...

The baychani in her saddened eyes, as she pulls them away, the despondent sorrow in the downturn of her lush lips, the the heavy hearted gloom in the drag of her feet, the dispirited dejection in the stoop of her shoulders, the anxious dread in the tight hold of her basta straps. He had sensed it yesterday and today he confirms it. She does not want this ... She had lowered her head and walked past him, her feet dragging.

Yesterday, Di had come into his room and said the same thing ... She had noticed that Khushi did not seem happy. She had seen a strange forlorn despair, a restless anxiousness in her eyes, especially when she was speaking with her fiance. Had he noticed anything ? She had asked him of her nagging concern ...

He knows the reason for her despair. His very first instance of verbally addressing and acknowledging the emotions she feels for him ... He uses the dreaded words ... Word he has shied away from ... Word he has ridiculed repeatedly ... Pyar ... Poor zandigee. He now uses them with authority ... He uses them with fluency, with a persuasive nuanced understanding, as one who knows what it is to love, to lose ... To love and lose for a lifetime ...

He knows, without a doubt, that she cannot love the man she is engaged to. She cannot love that man, because she loves him. His back turned to his Di, he had rambled uncharacteristically.

Beychain hai, khush nahi hai toh shadi kuon kar rahi hai ? Asa faisla liya hi kuon joh bad mein pachtana paday, khush nahin hai toh sagai kuon ki ! Kiss nay kaha tha han kehnay kay liya ? Kisi nay zabardasti ki thi kya ... Jis say Pyar nahin karti, Jis kar saath reh nahi sakti, oos kay saath pori zandigee kasay bitayagi .. Ayu mein ...

All questions he had wanted to shake the answers out of her ... Tell me ... Explain to me ... All questions he addresses to her as he does to himself too ... Who asked her to say yes ... Who put a gun to his head ... How can she live her whole without him ... How can he ? How did they both end up in this quagmire ? This quicksand, which promises to drag them both in ... For Hamesha ... For their pori zandigee ...

Aur mein ... His admission is lost in his Di disbelief at his rambling cynicism. She had merely asked her brother if he too noticed if Khushiji seemed a little distraught ... She had not expected him to deliver an entire speech on why Khushiji needed to answer all these questions. She had approached him, wanting answers ... He pleads to be left alone ...

Khushi sits with her Jiji contemplating the lost world of their fairly tales ... How easy it was to believe in the foolish stories ... One thinks about the uncontrollable anger in his face as he had grabbed her and pulled her to him, the other thinks of the vast divide of haisiyat between them.

Shyamji had come, bearing a gift ... A pretty silver bracelet. With his smarmy, sugar coated words, he had lifted her right hand and had clasped the bracelet on her wrist.

She had been like a marionette, physically and emotionally, unable to move. On the other side of town, he stood, a chiseled, dark gothic statue, staring at the darkend sky ... The words of their last encounter ... Humari sagai ... ricochetting in his chest ... Lavanya had flitted around him, blithely contemplating honeymoon trips. It had been a while before she is aware of his absence. A dark, violent storm brewing outside had perfectly mimicked the one raging within them.

This man's bracelet means nothing, just like his ring was placed late, on the wrong finger, so is his bracelet. ASR had, not long after meeting her for the first time, repeatedly marked her, imprinting on her wrist his violent,

A fierce, savage, allegorical claim. His hold on her wrist, a primitive, feudal bondage. You are mine ... I cannot let you go ... I will not let you go ... He much later, will redeem himself and buy her red bridal bangles and place his mothers kangan on her wrist.

It is this bracelet that breaks and slips off her wrist, landing at his feet, its brief sojourn on her wrist, ends as unceremoniously as it had begun. It's impotent claim on her life ends before it begins. She had bent at his feet to pick it up.

Small mercies ... He is darkly pleased to see the other man's gift wilt and fall off her wrist, but he is not done with his caustic barbs. Next time, walking past her, he advises duplicitously, ask your mangater to not buy you something so cheap ... So sasta ... She turns to him and tells what she thinks of a comment like that, Humay sastay ya mehgay say koi matlab nahin hai. Months from now, it will take him several attempts and a few lakh rupees before he figures out the veracity of that statement.

A battle not of ideologies but one of defensive self preservation on both sides. She, just like he had yesterday, assures him of her joy. Hum bahut khush hai, but it not her he needs to worry about, it is himself. He with his fancy bank balance, and yet so na khush ? Should he worry about that ? Naniji summon had fortunately put a halt to the escalating skirmish.

But our man is not bullish, if not anything. She is very happy ? Well, let's put an end to that little fable right now.

Diwali 102, a refresher course ... He had gone and grabbed Lavanya's hand tighter ... More urgently ... More impendingly than before ... Yeh engagment kal hogi ya kabhi nahin ...

Ipoona, your wording always very germane for the occasion.. it feels those words are born just so that you could use them here .. for these two.. such apt they are! Spot on analysis for this case study psychiatry 101...his ramble ... his claim on her wrist much early...his instinctive defense giving rise to those most caustic remarks..
Couple of things, was never sure why khushi said "hamare hisaab se tho who amir hai".. even then she couldn't love that guy right.. but cared only for this man throwing barbs after barbs.. his words about sasta could be very harsh there but there is an ice cold truth in those...
And, never could understand/ appreciate Khushi's POV when she most outrageously rejected that gift of his months later... its only fault was it was expensive!
Great Ipoona.
