He had run straight into her. She is stunned to see the raw pain seeping through his eyes. He had averted his eyes, hooding them and had walked off, not wanting to reveal any more.Poona, did you really think he averted his eyes and walked off? I have a completely different recollection (though I admit that I haven't watched this episode in ages!). I thought he stopped for enough time to let her know he is in pain, and then walked away.
A breakthrough ... A turning point ... The story of our Khushi and Arnav turns to gently face a path that leads to his healing. He had rejected her offer of an aid just this afternoon. Now he is ready. She does not prompt him, she does not lead him, he seeks her.The next turning point in their relationship after diwali night. Arnav seeks comfort for the first time from her. She has already sought comfort on the day he first said "sorry" to her when she opened up about her parents to him.
A man who hides the worst of his despair even from his closest confidant, his Di, seeks her, a kindred wounded spirit. He knows without a doubt, if anyone is capable of unlocking this knot in his chest, it is she ...
So so so true.
He asks,She answers ...
A faithless, godless, unapologetically irreverent, unreservedly cynical man, asks her, Is his dead mother one of the stars shining in the sky ? As ridiculous, as illogical, as farfetched a question as any he has scoffed at numerous times before. Yet he asks. He longs to have what she has ... A faith ... A belief ... A fairytale ...
Not a question really, but a quest for fellowship ... Take me into your fold ... Show me what you see ... Make me believe ... A restrained a quiet plea ... Release me from my prison ... Lead me out of here ...So beautiful Poona. You have worded it beautifully.
@bidz,
Loved the symbolism of shyam's bracelet you brought up in 121. Can't seem to find that epi link commenting here.Yes, Shyam put the ring in a not a very subh muhurat on the wrong side finger. Then this bracelet not being able to stay with her... Just like the gift or the jalebis he got that Khushi left on in the front verandah of GH as she has no heart for them. That is the thing that didn't let their epic love being tainted although they both had partners, those partners NEVER really were able to leave any kind of marks with them not even physical let alone mental and Arnav and Khushi belonged to each other what they say manasa vaacha karmana... By heart, by word and by action! There is another major grand mother of all symbolisms to come in that 124... How Arnav and Khushi got engaged formally! Thanks bidz for un covering that one.

Ipoona, I am amazed, and astounded! 👏
It's like you stole all my thoughts! Reading your post, I felt like all my emotions and thoughts about the episode found wings in your words - I would never have been able to express my thoughts so well!I always felt that the characters of Arnav and Khushi were meant to complete each other, like 2 sides of the coin. One does not exist without the other, and together they make one completed and fulfilled soul. Individually, they are 2 imperfect individuals who if not at a conscious level, at least at a subconscious level, are very well aware of their faults, insecurities and shortcomings.Arnav, in this episode, knew that he in his current persona, does not and cannot measure up to his mother's expectations and aspirations. Anjali was, is and always will be his devotion and responsibility, but he never felt the need to match or rise up to her expectations. He always wanted his di happy, but that devotion never prompted him to change. But his growing love for Khushi makes him want to be a better man.And though he keeps taunting Khushi about her 'aukat', that was just a shield to safeguard his bruised soul. He subconsciously always considered her an equal. It's her tears that bother him, her smile that lights up his soul, her approval that soothes his heart, and it's only with her he could share his feelings of inadequacy without even blinking an eye! This love story was never about two opposites getting attracted, it was from the beginning to end a journey of two incomplete souls finding their way to each other through the internal maze of their own imperfections!
@ arshi, poona,
Here are my thoughts on his question, and her answer. As I mentioned in my earlier post, this episode has always intrigued me. It is also the first episode where they had any sort of a sane 2-way conversation 😊
your 2 way conversation reminded me the time when in hospital Khushi unknowingly needed his shoulder for solace and ran into his arms this time he completed the circle by seeking her strength the same way she did
He asks "Kya woh hamen dekh kar khush hai?"
What did Arnav actually mean here? Did he want to know if his mom was happy with the way his life was, the way he was, or was he referring to the two of them? Or was it both?
Bang on girl...i was pondering over the same thing...what did he actually meant by the word "Humen"...after watching it again i think Khushi took it as "you and me " as she got embarresed and confused and looked at him questioningly...he realised what he said but not scared anymore to hide his feelings he spared her respectfully and rephrase his question to seek a positive answer...
In my opinion, it was probably both. A very deep and profound question about his being. A life that was simply incomplete without Khushi, though he still hadn't acknowledged it. But at this time his guards were completely down.
yes for him it was indeed both...he was concerned about his transcendental feelings towards Khushi and his upcoming marriage with lavanya but for Khushi it was just "them" coz at that time she didnt know about his painful past.
Would love to know what you guys think about this question of his.
She doesn't answer. She doesn't want to say no, and she cannot say yes. She looks at him with sadness, but silently passing on her strength to him.
they were never even dependent on words to convey their feelings and emotions, answers and questions and their desires and needs..so this time also as you said her strength was conveyed
Her unsaid words - Mom is not happy because you are not happy. You are not at peace. But the very fact that you asked this question means that all is not lost. This shall also change. You will find happiness.
She always had her belief and trust in him and this time it was coming straight from his heart and his eyes conveyed how much he wanted to be his moms son and make her happy and she stamped his belief with her silence.
She gave him strength with the words she spoke and carefully nurtured hope with the words she didn't.
You could see a man at peace while she walked away. Mom was probably smiling at the mask slowly slipping away...
After almost 10 years, I started watching IPK again from the Diwali track and continued until Shyama’s exit in just 2 weeks It felt like nothing...
What if Arnav had not released the fashion show tapes? What if Khushi had adamantly refused to come to Shantivan and teach Lavanya? What if...
