Poona, did you really think he averted his eyes and walked off? I have a completely different recollection (though I admit that I haven't watched this episode in ages!). I thought he stopped for enough time to let her know he is in pain, and then walked away.

A breakthrough ... A turning point ... The story of our Khushi and Arnav turns to gently face a path that leads to his healing. He had rejected her offer of an aid just this afternoon. Now he is ready. She does not prompt him, she does not lead him, he seeks her.

The next turning point in their relationship after diwali night. Arnav seeks comfort for the first time from her. She has already sought comfort on the day he first said "sorry" to her when she opened up about her parents to him.

A man who hides the worst of his despair even from his closest confidant, his Di, seeks her, a kindred wounded spirit. He knows without a doubt, if anyone is capable of unlocking this knot in his chest, it is she ...

So so so true.

He asks,She answers ...

A faithless, godless, unapologetically irreverent, unreservedly cynical man, asks her, Is his dead mother one of the stars shining in the sky ? As ridiculous, as illogical, as farfetched a question as any he has scoffed at numerous times before. Yet he asks. He longs to have what she has ... A faith ... A belief ... A fairytale ...

Not a question really, but a quest for fellowship ... Take me into your fold ... Show me what you see ... Make me believe ... A restrained a quiet plea ... Release me from my prison ... Lead me out of here ...

So beautiful Poona. You have worded it beautifully.

One of your best ones poona. I love the way you brought out emotions in both of them. This episode has always intrigued me.

will write why in my next post since i want to address something that both you and Arshi wrote.

@ arshi, poona,

Here are my thoughts on his question, and her answer. As I mentioned in my earlier post, this episode has always intrigued me. It is also the first episode where they had any sort of a sane 2-way conversation 😊

He asks "Kya woh hamen dekh kar khush hai?"

What did Arnav actually mean here? Did he want to know if his mom was happy with the way his life was, the way he was, or was he referring to the two of them? Or was it both?

In my opinion, it was probably both. A very deep and profound question about his being. A life that was simply incomplete without Khushi, though he still hadn't acknowledged it. But at this time his guards were completely down.

Would love to know what you guys think about this question of his.

She doesn't answer. She doesn't want to say no, and she cannot say yes. She looks at him with sadness, but silently passing on her strength to him.

Her unsaid words - Mom is not happy because you are not happy. You are not at peace. But the very fact that you asked this question means that all is not lost. This shall also change. You will find happiness.

She gave him strength with the words she spoke and carefully nurtured hope with the words she didn't.

You could see a man at peace while she walked away. Mom was probably smiling at the mask slowly slipping away...

Yes, Shyam put the ring in a not a very subh muhurat on the wrong side finger. Then this bracelet not being able to stay with her... Just like the gift or the jalebis he got that Khushi left on in the front verandah of GH as she has no heart for them. That is the thing that didn't let their epic love being tainted although they both had partners, those partners NEVER really were able to leave any kind of marks with them not even physical let alone mental and Arnav and Khushi belonged to each other what they say manasa vaacha karmana... By heart, by word and by action!

There is another major grand mother of all symbolisms to come in that 124... How Arnav and Khushi got engaged formally!

Thanks bidz for un covering that one.

Thanks Horizon. I uncovered as I wrote. The inspiration comes from you, Poona and arshi. Cannot wait to read your take on the symbolisms on 124

Ipoona, I am amazed, and astounded! 👏

It's like you stole all my thoughts! Reading your post, I felt like all my emotions and thoughts about the episode found wings in your words - I would never have been able to express my thoughts so well!

I always felt that the characters of Arnav and Khushi were meant to complete each other, like 2 sides of the coin. One does not exist without the other, and together they make one completed and fulfilled soul. Individually, they are 2 imperfect individuals who if not at a conscious level, at least at a subconscious level, are very well aware of their faults, insecurities and shortcomings.
Arnav, in this episode, knew that he in his current persona, does not and cannot measure up to his mother's expectations and aspirations. Anjali was, is and always will be his devotion and responsibility, but he never felt the need to match or rise up to her expectations. He always wanted his di happy, but that devotion never prompted him to change. But his growing love for Khushi makes him want to be a better man.

And though he keeps taunting Khushi about her 'aukat', that was just a shield to safeguard his bruised soul. He subconsciously always considered her an equal. It's her tears that bother him, her smile that lights up his soul, her approval that soothes his heart, and it's only with her he could share his feelings of inadequacy without even blinking an eye!

This love story was never about two opposites getting attracted, it was from the beginning to end a journey of two incomplete souls finding their way to each other through the internal maze of their own imperfections!

Beautifully said!

Here are my thoughts on his question, and her answer. As I mentioned in my earlier post, this episode has always intrigued me. It is also the first episode where they had any sort of a sane 2-way conversation 😊

your 2 way conversation reminded me the time when in hospital Khushi unknowingly needed his shoulder for solace and ran into his arms this time he completed the circle by seeking her strength the same way she did

He asks "Kya woh hamen dekh kar khush hai?"

What did Arnav actually mean here? Did he want to know if his mom was happy with the way his life was, the way he was, or was he referring to the two of them? Or was it both?

Bang on girl...i was pondering over the same thing...what did he actually meant by the word "Humen"...after watching it again i think Khushi took it as "you and me " as she got embarresed and confused and looked at him questioningly...he realised what he said but not scared anymore to hide his feelings he spared her respectfully and rephrase his question to seek a positive answer...

In my opinion, it was probably both. A very deep and profound question about his being. A life that was simply incomplete without Khushi, though he still hadn't acknowledged it. But at this time his guards were completely down.

yes for him it was indeed both...he was concerned about his
transcendental feelings towards Khushi and his upcoming marriage with lavanya but for Khushi it was just "them" coz at that time she didnt know about his painful past.

Would love to know what you guys think about this question of his.
She doesn't answer. She doesn't want to say no, and she cannot say yes. She looks at him with sadness, but silently passing on her strength to him.

they were never even dependent on words to convey their feelings and emotions, answers and questions and their desires and needs..so this time also as you said her strength was conveyed

Her unsaid words - Mom is not happy because you are not happy. You are not at peace. But the very fact that you asked this question means that all is not lost. This shall also change. You will find happiness.

She always had her belief and trust in him and this time it was coming straight from his heart and his eyes conveyed how much he wanted to be his moms son and make her happy and she stamped his belief with her silence.

She gave him strength with the words she spoke and carefully nurtured hope with the words she didn't.

You could see a man at peace while she walked away. Mom was probably smiling at the mask slowly slipping away...

ArshiH 😊
He asks permission from her parents through her today...as this is his first introduction to him and then he asks about his mother.

I loved this line of yours as he is getting introduced to her parents today through her and just want to add "human" as he mentioned "humain deikh keh hush" Today is the first day he is accepting her presence in his life and wants her answer and she gives him her acceptance with a question as she flusters and doesn't let him see more than that but after that he was in peace and had a soft smile because what he wanted to know he got it because Later when he is going to find out her engagement, that becomes his reason of blurting ,mujhe bata zaroori nahin samjha...kaise...kissi ko pata kyuon nahin hai...all those indicate how he can misunderstand her eyes...because your eyes always speak the truth.

He was talking about themselves like as he is granting permission after realizing his blunder with La as you mentioned in nishu's post earlier on main IF.

I must say I am reading you from Blast to main IF and your views about this scene on nishu's post are astounding .You really show different angles of this show.Love the way you explore the story because as you mentioned a lot this is not just a love story. So true.

@ zombie,

Thanks dear😊
you're so right - her immediate reaction was of a slight discomfort at his blatant question. To add to the fact that she is now engaged and he is unaware of it. Cannot wait for the episode where she drops that bombshell on him. right poona?😉

Bidz, lovely thoughts.. but I don't think so. I seem to be in minority here as by that "humain dekh kar" line I don't think he meant to refer to both of them as couple.. not just yet! I remember this line was shown as the precap that time the day before "kya woh humain dekh kar khush hain" and his turning head towards her.. we were all jumping up and down that he kind of confessed without us knowing the full context of that scene.. but leaving that nostalgia aside,
I think at first he said "humain" to refer to both of them as independent son/ daughter to their respective mothers.. becos he knew Khushi always believed her mother to be one among the stars, and so must be communicating with her in her own way... so he thought Khushi must knew by now how her mother felt about her... but since he subconsciously acknowledges Khushi to be a better person than him, there is NO need to worry for khushi if her mother would be happy or not with her today.. where as he is certain that his mother will NOT be happy with him.. so first he refers as "humain" as they both being the orphan kids to their dead parents.. then separates him self "kya meri maa mujhe dekh kar" as he feels he is different/ imperfect where as she is not... .
And, Khushi's answer an implicit "NO", doesn't hurt him, as he himself knows it, and he is rather at peace to communicate that imperfection with her .. and she SEES that STRUGGLE in him between that Shaitan and Raj kumar first hand... she could almost read him saying "I know what I did to you is wrong.. but I can't help it.. thats just me".. and remains the reason why she is able to forgive this man.. as she ALWAYS SAW THAT STRONG CONSCIENCE in him as she said later "hume patha hai hamari har ek aansoo aap dil ko hazar bar thes pahunchata hai"..
Intriguing scene indeed with many possible meanings..
But yes the underlying fact about it is, they both seek each other, and ONLY each other in their times of distress.
