Different strokes for different folks?

I'm not quite sure where to post this, but since my issues are associated with this forum, I'm just going to post this here. My purpose is to bring to people's notice some rather bizarre goings on on India Forums and ask a few pertinent questions to the authorities in charge.
Who is a moderator?

Presumably someone who can be trusted to follow the rules, judge between right and wrong and use their powers judiciously.

Who's a transgressor?

Someone who flouts the laws and thereby gets their posts closed. Because they broke the law.

What's the law?

The IF code of conduct.

These are basic principles- I think we all get this. So, now let me ask the bigger question.

Why does someone who openly posts "mature" and downright questionable content in her FFs get to be a moderator? I'm referring to this: https://www.indiaforums.com/forum/rules-and-announcements/3823385/promotions-and-new-additions-to-the-development-team

One of the names on that list openly posts content that clearly violate YOUR OWN LAWS for God's sake. Here, take a look- I can count several different laws that are flouted in these posts.

Rule No. 1- No posting the label 18+- yup that's right there in this post.

Rule No.2- No description of anything beyond kissing. There's definitely more than kissing going on here.

Rule No.3- Using the blog to post the graphic content. She hasn't provided the link, but she's offering to in her post. And that's clearly where the "mature content" is.

So- she gets to be a Moderator. And you guys go around wilfully closing other people's posts for flouting rules. I think you need to take a look at your own people first before you make these decisions.

And I'm not making these rules up. YOU PEOPLE MADE THESE RULES! Take a look here:

Look, I have nothing against this person at all. I don't care what she does or writes. I am just saying the rules must apply equally to everyone. You can't have a moderator that flouts the rules openly. You guys have a reputation for functioning in a biased manner anyway. This kind of behavior only reinforces my opinion. Am I guilty of flouting some of these rules? I'm sure I am. But I don't have the power to shut down other people's posts. Whereas she clearly does.

I'd like an honest answer. Most of the time, I hardly care what you guys do and how you function. But this is beyond the pale. If India Forums takes itself even slightly seriously as a website, they need to do a better job than this with moderating. And please don't use the "this is an FF question, use the FF forum to ask your question" argument. This is NOT an FF question. This is a question about moderators in general and how they get picked in particular. If you break any rule in any forum of IF, you're clearly not qualified to be a moderator. That's how I see it. You can tell me otherwise.

INDIA forums hai bhai - we have english subtitles for english movies where every third word is censored because thats what's going to keep our children from becoming bad girls and bad boys.

Theres a thread full of sex jokes or innuendos that can get banned by a person who wrote a story about a husband who was a rapist. I don't care for the story but I do care about what this means for us.

Tell us how you pick moderators, please ? You give us the rules but tell us nothing about enforcement - or the people who are responsible for it. Why ? INDIA forum hai bhai -democracy hai.

There are a host of issues we should be fighting about in here.

But we forget all of that and take the chance to ban the few posts that make some people laugh, others smile and more people wonder at the sassiness that exists in a world that takes itself too seriously.

Point to ponder, maybe?

If you really want to do something constructive - laugh with us and see how we can make it a really really fun contest. :D

All of that.

But really- if the people who enforce the rules can't be trusted to keep them, then it's just a travesty. Who are these guys working for? The website or themselves? That's the question!

I have a question - this moderation thing - who are these people - people who have volunteered to be the class monitor? If yes, then where is the class teacher who laid out the rules in the first place and what is the policy of discipline that has been authorized?

Seems to me that this is a job that needs to be done and needs some time and effort and anyone who offers to do it, gets accepted. If I have learnt anything, it is that such arrangements never work for the overarching purpose. They are almost always about the individuals

Kind of the like Umbridge and her squad. Ermmm...Yes I will stick with that analogy :P

Hi MM,
I'm your big pankha! Oops, sadly I can't even use that word here anymore. Two days ago, when you had opened that post of yours, I had such a wonderful time reading it. It made me go all nostalgic to a point where I even started to cry missing all the old IPK days, when this forum used to be so much fun.

Fun as in, I started randomly laughing seeing your posts on my laptop and people around me started staring at me weirdly.😆 And believe me, I haven't laughed like that since IPK days.

But sadly IF is no more the place we used to know 2 years ago. That crazy IPK forum is dead and gone. This place is like a graveyard now, where we only come to remember those good old memories and lament about them. People here have become so sensitive that Fun died its untimely death. There is an issue created for each and every word uttered here. I really wonder how these people are in real life! Are they really so sensitive about everything?

Ultimately, my point is that, there is no point fighting for anything over here. Apna boriya bistar baandlo aur pack up! There is no place here for fun beings anymore. All have turned into zombies here.😆

And good luck. This post will also receive it's untimely death soon, thanks to the *ahem* IF members constantly pressing the report button.

P.S. I mis da Gutterz posts wala days! LOLZ

Not just the aforementioned author, there are many other authors who post god-knows-what, in the name of Dark FFs. Just because that they write, Dark FF before their stories' name, they get to write about anything and everything they want. I have nothing against these authors at all. It is their choice to write and a reader's choice to read such stories. No judging at all. But, as Max, had already said - The rules should be equal for all.

The thread that got locked last night, had contained nothing but funny innuendos, while many writers use the direct words in their stories and their FFs are flourishing given by the fan following they have.

So, I'd like to know what kind of policy do IF moderators follow.
