I totally understand what this post is saying. And it's not wrong at all and kudos for even daring to talk about it!

But honestly in my opinion that's the way it is. Not mentioning any names, but it truely is who is friends with who but no one can help that becuase the forum is such a big place it's very easy to over look an amazing story. Like the other day I got a pm asking me to vote for them for something I'm like huh? I was confused as I honestly didn't think they deserved it. But then the same person pm-ed again for me to vote for them. I'm like don't take these awards too seriously man. If your awarded well done and move on. It's not something to get depressed or overly happy about in my opinion.

Maybe there should be a change in the awards system where people nominate the stories and the top like 10-20 are ready by certain high MOD/great writers etc and they as a group judge who's is 1st/2nd and 3rd. But that's me just going on and on😆

Yeah anyways where was I...Oh yeah, I have to admit there are many readers I've read who aren't popular at all but they have amazing story lines etc but never awarded. No one should really take these awards to heart however as it's only a forum and writers should appreciate the support they already get.

P.S only my opinion.

Popular (common categories)

Critics (here DTs would choose 5 anonymous judges who would be judging few set of awards giving chance to new and not so popular writers if they really deserve it. and her only writers can send their entires to them not the readers)

but in the second case you need to 100% trust the judges

this is my suggestion to the DTs.

P.S. Someone too suggested my story, i don't know how many times she asked if she can suggest my story and what you think i have replied?? I said yes, of couse all will say yes! But I NEVER ASKED, and will NEVER DO!! Yeah her suggestion helped my story, but i think i have gained the best readers on my own

Note: well for me if you ask to others to suggeste your stories then sorry to say but you are using that person and the friendship that you share just for your own benefits 😳

@ Sonia: When the OS contest come up and then the awards I asked to the DT's of IPK forum if we can have a OS contest but only for the new writers only for those who have started writing in 2013, in a way to give them a chance and it was almost a yes (at least i hope)

I really want to do something for the new readers, i'm also new but i write just as a stress out and for few people that i love from the bottom of my heart and plus my english it's pinaing poor my readers 😆 😆

My POV

Oh yeah someone said having an award doesn't matter well sorry to say, but why when readers have to chose between an awarded OS/FF/SS and a normal one they chose the awarded one?? Okay maybe few of us don't bother to it and a lot DO!! 😳

For eg. one OS won as the OS of the week and that particular OS got a lot of readers in that week can sameone tell me why? 🤓 Don't try to say the award thing doesn't help because it do!! Otherwise why should a writer take the pain to write Awarded FF/SS/OS in the tittle 😕 😕

FF DT NOTE

A member at the Fan Fictions Forum brought this thread to my attention and first and foremost, I'd like to state that if there are any issues at all in regards to how certain activities are conducted at the FF Forum, members are encouraged to post at the General Complaints/Inquiries/Requests Thread. I feel that the FF forum is very unique because we have such a thread where members are free to post their opinion publicly about the DT and the forum in general.

Coming to the issue on hand, I understand awards for stories on IF are very controversial because of the procedure.. and the results are usually in favour of the more popular authors that have enough members that will vote for them. However, as Saraa already posted, if you know you're a good enough writer and you know you should have received a certain award, should it matter to you? Do you not have enough confidence in yourself that something as such as a sig and two sentences stating that you're good at BLANK, is required to maintain that confidence?

But, I also understand that to some people, this is very important. They do require and expect to be recognized and find it unfair that they aren't.. So, I really do like the idea of having members nominate stories and getting a certain panel of judges from the DT to read the stories and decide the winners. If there other suggestions as to how the awards could be made a more fair and acceptable event that awards members based on their skill and talent and not their popularity, please do drop by at the General Complaints Forum and feel free to post there. All suggestions will be taken seriously and possibly implemented for the next years awards.

Wow, thanks that you feel like that , see it is like this sometimes you dont know what you are doing wrong if no ones tells you and that is why it is important to say it and not just to talk about behind like some does. For me it feels like that the award system here can be changed and become better and I also feel glad that alot of members have also talk about here so now I know it was not just me how felt like that but others also. Sometimes it is better to talk openly so the forum can get better, that is why I had open the topic

I just want to say one thing. She did not mean like in a wrong way. She was not lashing at you, she just wanted to say since you are popular, the readers "goes" to you and other writes dont get same chance like you do. Yes, being popular takes time and dedication but see it is like this, the reades give you a chance and they liked your stories so I feel why cant the readers give the chance like they did with you. Because everyone has started with being a new writer, and sometimes it feels like here, being a new writer is like a crime because everyone thinks no, I am not going to read a story from her because what if she leaves the story in the middle and all that. So, that is why I feel why? Yes, the readers have a right to read what they want and no one is foceing you to read a story who you dont want to. But I feel like this like a writer wins a "award" a new writer wins a award then maybe the readers will give they a chance and think this this person has won then maybe the story has to be good to read. See, this is what I want, a chance for a new writer so they have a chance
