Wiwy, Supriya, Chalhov, IssK, were you all able to listen to the music earlier?

Soni, I'm glad you are able to hear the music now. And Durga, I had no clue that you were having the same trouble. Yeah, I don't know what's going on but I been having trouble with the "like" button!

Some of us were utterly disappointed at how Khushi's character was reduced post the hate marriage. But I don't think its the male writers who have done injustice to this female character as it was females who were at the helm deciding for this show, be it the producer herself or importantly the Star Plus creative head who decides the content of every episode for a show (the one who thought ASR can be killed/ changed just like they could do with some other shows!). The regression of the female lead started much earlier than that where in post Diwali, the girl who once retorted by the pool side while she lost her payal, "Had I known, I would die but wouldn't have come to your place", bravo girl, went amiss! Post Shyam revelation, where she was denied of love by one and was coerced to get engaged to another only to realize him to be a lecher, neither her love importantly nor her pain was highlighted. Except for a couple of sequences post the so called Hate marriage, there wasn't any focus on her turmoil. Everything was left for one's interpretation. This love story has been about the male protagonist from Day 1 and always meandered the way the he wanted, whether his struggle, denial, guilt, acknowledgement!

As said in Geeta, "Swadharme nidhanam shreyah, paradharmo bhayavahah" (Better is one's own duty though devoid of merit than that of another well discharged). Isn't that what exactly seem to be the difference between ASR's and Khushi's actions, swadharma of the former and Paradharma of the latter??

This wouldn't necessarily make ASR right, the way he executed it. Even if he were to ask and believe Khushi, having truly seen Shyam's madness for Khushi (pagalpan, junoon as Shyam said) in order to bear with him for the next 6 months, marrying Khushi would have been the only option, perhaps at her consent but not necessarily family's. But for him, the pain of the knowledge that her mother like sister's trust and marriage was in shambles would still remain!

horizon,

well said about the women who were in charge. and i do agree the story is primarily about the male protagonist. that in itself doesn't bother me... it is the bent of the tale, its reason for existence.

where i find a sad lack of responsibility in writing is in the way characters, especially the female lead, have been treated at will. yes, that started way back, not here.

no matter who is your protagonist, when you create characters you have to be true to them... if you are a writer with any integrity that is. to completely ditch the female lead's character, to make her into a meaningless muddle... that i thought was not done... of course, you will manipulate characters, even the main lead, but the task is not to lose them, however hard that might be... that is the challenge of creative writing...

here i did feel khushi was treated in a most cavalier fashion... made into a caricature when it suited them, and then suddenly acchi bahu bharatiya nari... anything... along the way she was gone. whoever the writer was... the one who executes the words and story... messed up. i did feel a male indifference to a woman's mind here. centuries of patriarchy and seeing men as natural leaders... karta... has its impact on minds, male or female. gul, gautam hegde, ved raj, hitesh kevaliya, whoever started letting khushi become less, was wrong.

when one sees the final scenes of othello, desdemona still feels real... not just othello. many stories are about one principle character, male or female (zee's astitwa did a pretty decent job of portraying a female protagonist but created a memorable male lead too)... but the other characters remain relevant... as they are... not just as a tool. a rather clumsy writer's tool at that.

i do feel writing was ultimately weak. bits of utter brilliance, but no real consistency or commitment of writers... more a show of "cleverness" from time to time... in the middle of it all some lovely lines... but tell me if sanaya and barun were not saying them, would we be swooning?

can't think of anyone else who could have made stuff that was kinda corny sound practically divine, like a life lesson.

loved the geeta quote... still trying to understand it.

but the oft said karmanye badhikaraste comes to mind... that went missing, too much concentration on the fruit of action.

Durga, Shashi was one admirable father! If he were to be normal, Khushi would have certainly shared with him about her marriage at some point that would have given a new dimension to the story. I always wanted to see some thing on the lines of, where in Khushi would leave RM and start working at GH, ASR would move to that neighborhood to woo her.. not exactly but some thing like the movie "Anand" if you know what I am talking.
Buaji and Garima were beyond redemption. They were the ones to corce her into engagement, not much guilty for this girl at how Shyam turned out to be, and then they have the gall to slap her when she gets married at her own will ...to the most eligible bachelor in the town...:). jokes apart... there was NO consceince on their part at all.. either to own or diswon this girl at their will!!
Khushi was indeed lucky to have found true love and some one whose way of punishment was to bring her even closer!!

right you are, horizon, she found this one human being on earth to whom she meant everything, he needed nothing else. that is what she found... the only person over whom she had complete haq... at 8 she lost her own, her immediate family... not a single person in her life was one she could claim with full right... if they turn away from her, she knows there was always a chance... no matter how much love they all felt for each other... but with arnav ji... he was hers, unquestionably, completely... oh i so loved that scene where he holds her dupatta then pulls her back and says, even if it were true, if i were arav's father, would you leave me? some really deep issues of love loving haq explored at beautiful moments in ipk... shining and true amid a whole lot of dross.

no matter how much he hurt her he loved her like no other ever had... she was his whole life... his heartbeat. so beautiful this loving... not always sweet and gentle, but beautiful nonetheless.

Good for you AD. Will try to take a look if possible. You know, unlike many here, I have been a regular serial watcher. Most serials start off really well, only to sink into a mess in due course. I would watch the show till it started deteriorating and then would quit. Very few shows I stuck to till the end. But after IPK, I couldn't make myself watch another show even in its initial stages. After sometime I felt, would I ever watch a serial again? Though I never liked any of those on-going ones, I was missing the suspense, the excitement of what would happen next. So, I decided to change gear. When I was in Mumbai, I used to follow Marathi and Hindi shows equally. So, started watching Marathi shows. It was a different language, different culture, shows made for an audience with a different taste. It worked. I am following a couple of them now. And none of them make me feel that they are trying to copy IPK. They aren't and they are not even close to it. It is totally a different world altogether. And the best part is, my knowledge of Marathi with which I had lost touch is now back on track. 😃
Would like to share a funny incident. When I started watching one of the Marathi show, my daughter went and complained to my mother about it (of course in good humour). My mother wasn't surprised for she knew I used to watch earlier. Anyway, now my daughter has learnt the title song of one of the shows and keeps humming it when the show starts, although she doesn't know its meaning. 😆
Ok, ok I will stop blabbering ...

hi durga,

i enjoyed that. 😳 so she's singing serial gana now. mine reads over my shoulder and complains to her dad, look look ma has written ...

i was never much of a serial regular, but after several years here away from india, i'd switch on the tv the moment i entered my room. i have seen practically every serial from around 2000 till date, bits and parts, sometimes quite a lot... never really followed. nothing made any lasting impact... just reminders of home and the things we go on about... i mean this whole saas bahu thing... where else would we have all this and understand each and every subtext of every conversation, every ishara however subtle or not.😆

then came ipk.

i had resisted it long, especially because i found the male lead sexy. you see, i'd decided he must be a useless guy who thinks no end of himself and huh he'd so a sophiticated city man with money and cool? tell me another one...

silly me, so i was not there on 6 june 2011.

but then he got me and the love story trapped me... hooked ol' me every night at 12 a date with the tv, then a frolic with youtube.

story as you say always goes haywire.

here too.

but i couldn't leave.

today i know it was barun/sanaya really... two people who acted with integrity and kept two characters alive even when there was nothing in them at times... okay, i believe barun was the one who was totally true to asr no matter what, sanaya tried her level best, but there was a gap... i can't blame her... the role was all over the place.

after ipk, honestly... no tv.

once in a way i try... then quickly switch off.

i watch a movie or some serial dvd f i need to chill with something new.

watched saptapadi on the net the other day, sitting by myself. was lovely.

but nah... no tv for me now.

maybe when barun returns. 😆

doesn't bother me... i am still watching and dreaming ipk.

Good Evening every body...

I can see lovely write ups by Horizon, Indi and Durga...

Will read tomorrow ,just came home an hour ago and tired as hell.

But as I promise to myself not to bother you but before I go and indulge myself in my stupid work quick question as I am not leaving 189...

BLASTERS

AGAIN I am back with my confusion...

On Teej Arnav touches her hand and she snatches it away as shyness...Phela Phela Jhatka...

Ok now she is snatching her hands away again from him but this time there is something else and he is having something else as he was beseeching seeing her in pain and troubled during pheras

Here is my two cents and my mind is stuck at these...

Just for the moment ,he is taking her as home breaker as Shyam's gazes rages him every second...

She is fighting with herself "he doesn't love me ,it's just a lust"

Arnav's misunderstanding as he suspects Shyam and Khushi to be in love and playing game with anjali. Khushi's misunderstanding is the real TROUBLING fact She thinks Arnav or rather ASR has not changed even a bit! She has seen him in live-in with La. and the day ASR broke his engagement with La, she confirmed her belief that ASR is afraid of commitment . So according to her at this moment only just like him for the terrace one her hasty thoughts are that ASR is interested in her so he wants to make a contract kind of marriage and doesn't believe in LOVE and all .That was the reason she quickly removes her hand from ASR when she was passing the thali and overall hurt by his approach.

Your views ,PLZ ...

Plz don't throw tomatoes at me as my mind is going in different directions...

Did anybody watch 201 yet? Don't you think mami's behavior was OTT? she was not seen in the video and for that reason, how she created a hue, that was simply too much. when they gathered to watch the wedding video, i thought some important thing would be revealed. But sigh cvs forgot everything.
When Arnav was feeding Khushi kheer, how he acted it seemed like he was genuinely being romantic with her. I was swooning when he said,
"tumhari hath mein bina shakkar ki kheer bhi meetha lagte hai."
Barun was too yummilicious in the scene. faiqa i stole your word, I couldn't find any appropriate word for him. Though the bd was irritating, specially i felt disgusted when he touched Khushi's lips.

sohara meri jaan 😊...I am stuck at 189 and you are talking about 210...PLZ don't make me hyper...

But I do remember ,yes she creates the whole drama when she is not being seen in the video.
And yes NK and his camera everything is just waste of time...

I never gets disturbed with these aliens as long as the meaning is delivered and the main theme is intact and the characters are doing the justice...

Yes he is Yummilicious and she is Temptalicious in that saree as soon we will see the tents and all

We will scream together when we reach there...
