"Being happy doesn't mean that everything is perfect. It means that you've decided to look beyond the imperfections."

Genre: Tragedy

When the time passes by, you will shine like a star in my heart

Arnav puts the keys on the door and he opens the door of shantivan...it has been one year, one year since he has stepped inside the house but today it was really special day for Arnav. Arnav took his first step inside in shantivan to let the breeze come to him as to welcome him back and make him remember the memories he has created here with his love, his Khushi...

Khushi or what buaji used to call her sanka devi, thought Arnav as he smiled whenever as Khushi had many nicknames given by the families but never once did she complain. Khushi has always lived up to her name, she always used to give happiness to everyone single one and never once been selfish unlike him.

Arnav moves up to their room, Arnavs and Khushis room. Everything was the same here, it was like nothing has change then the reality was different. Arnav looks around the room and he has flashbacks when he and Khushi used to share the room and their moments together. It was the best times he has spent with her even though he has never confessed to her but sometimes you just know by heart and Arnav knows that she knows it. Seeing their old room Arnav has been lost to the time where he meet Khushi for the first time and their journey together. Arnav closed his eyes the pictures started to come in front his eyes.

Flashback...

Khushi and I have been married for two months and we were happy with our lives...our love story was really one of kind. I, Aranv Singh Raizada was the cold business man that no one dare to challenge or question but it was before Khushi. He didn't scare her and she never thought twice for answering him back where she thought he was wrong. She could fight him and keep up with his pace. Khushi was the only one in the world who had the guts to fight Arnav Singh Raizada and accepted every challenge thrown at her and also come out as a winner.

Slowly Arnav started to fell in love with Khushi who was really opposite to him in entirety. They were from different dimensions all together. Where Arnav belief in power of money was brought down to it knees, Khushi on the other hand made deal to work for free to help someone. His lack of trust on Khushi had been shaken to core when once she risked her life to save his. He was the one who eat his paratha with a fork where Khushi tear a cookie packet with her teeth.

But love is love and one thing he loved about Khushi was that she was herself all the time and with her, he also was himself. Both knew what types of person they were and that was good enough for them. Later they got married and here they were...happy with their lives. Living in a world where almost everyone lived a world of facade and Khushi were his fresh air and nothing will never come amongst his love.

But in this happy world will soon come a storm which had shake Arnavs and Khushis lives forever...

After 4 months of their marriage, Khushi started all the sudden get pains on her body for no reason that all which was really strange as she never had this type of pain ever before. But this was just the begin...later Khushi used be really tried, have headaches and have lost weight of no reason that all. Khushi, who was foodie lost her appetite. She also started to have double vision and that was then Khushi decided it was the time to see a doctor and know what is happening inside of her body.

But it was not only Khushi, who have notice that she was not herself and she is getting really weak for some days but also Arnav. And that is why Arnav follow Khushi on her doctor visit as he wanted also to know what is happening to Khushi.

The next day Khushi and Arnav went to the doctor cabin and they were sitting. The doctor checked at Khushi's health records. The doctor looked at Khushi and asked her to tell the symptoms she is having...After telling to the doctor and checking at Khushi. He still needed to take some tests to be sure if she really did have what he thought and so the doctor took some tests on Khushi and later then the tests came and it showed positive. Arnav and Khushi looked at the doctor and the time he took to the what was wrong with Khushi was making them restless and finally the doctor told the news which nobody wants to hear...

"I am sorry Mrs. Raizada, the tests I have taken on you have showed positive for breast cancer."

Khushi and Arnav both froze on their spot, they both hear what the doctor at same time it did not feel like a reality for them. Both were had tons of thoughts going on their minds and it did not help when the doctor told them...

"There is also one thing to tell, the cancer has reached to the final stage so there is nothing to do than to accept it."

When Arnav heard what the doctor told him, his first reaction was to hold Khushis small hand gently. He saw the tears that were hanging at the brim of her eyes and he breathed out which he was holding without him knowing. He had really hard time to handle his own pressures. He did not let go of her hand when they were out from the doctors cabin. Arnav looked up at Khushis eyes and assure her nothing is going to happened to her. They will be out from this, just like they have been on other issues on the past.

For over some weeks Arnav has been keeping to find the best doctors who can help Khushi but when they read Khushis records. All of them say one thing, the cancer is on the last stage and there is nothing to do now. Arnav was getting angry that the doctors and the situation they were as right now it feel like just to accept the fact Khushi is going away from him...no, he will not let anything to happened Khushi. Arnav went to office as Aman has called to come and he had to come.

But Khushi has now accept the fact and she is trying to make Arnav also understand that there is nothing to now. She will go away and right now she only wanted to spent time with Arnav as Arnav is the only person she has left in this world. But Arnav is busy on calling the doctors. Khushi is thinking how to make Arnav understand that right now the only thing she wants to do is to spent time with him and nothing else. She did not want to waste time on Arnav calling the doctors when the answer is no. They have to learnt to accept and move on. Khushi had a idea on her mind and she went out to buy things...

When Arnav returned home late night, he went straight to his bedroom and when he open his door, he was mesmerized by the room. Everywhere Arnav saw candles and he knew who did this..it was his life...Khushi. His eyes searchingly looked after his wife. Then Khushi came on a red sari. Arnav was really mesmerized by Khushi and he started to walk towards Khushi as someone is pulling him towards Khushi.

"Khushi." Arnav breathed her name and Khushi held Arnavs hand.

"Arnav, how did you love my surprise? See, how much I have done only to make you happy." Khushi pouted...

"Khushi, I have one good news to tell you. I have talked to the one doctor and he has told me that there is one treatment that can cure you and tomorrow, we are going to meet the doctor." Arnv was really overwhelmed knowing that Khushi is going to be well soon.

But Khushi was not that happy as she is accept the fact that she does not have that much time and having a hope will mean that if the doctor have not helped her then she will be ruin and right now she really did not need any hope. She only wanted to spent time with Arnav. This is something which she needed to tell Arnav about it.

But when she told her this to Arnav, he got angry. And in the angry he told to Khushi...

"I wish I never meet you. I was so happy when I didnt meet you. Why did I meet you?"

Saying this Arnav left the room and Khushi was broken. When Arnav was driving the car in high speed when flashback on the earlier events were coming back to him. Arnav later got a flashback what he told to Khushi about he wished he had not meet her. Arnav suddenly pushed the brake and said...

"Dammit."

Khushi looked at the star and was crying because today her parents were today with her but even she did not want to go from Arnav. She decide to leave Arnav. As she started to go to get her things, Arnav came inside the room. Arnav started to walk towards Arnav and make her sit on the bed. He knew right now it was time to tell Khushi about how he felt...

"I dont want to lose you Khushi like I did with my mother..."

Arnav had tears in his eyes and seeing Arnav in this state make Khushi felt pain engulf her heart and she starting to cry. Today, they have realize that one day they will not be with each other anymore, they would not see each other, talk to each other...that reality of their situation make both hearts cry.

From that day, after they had confessed their fears, Khushi started to be herself like she used and Arnav slowly also started to be like he was before. Both used to fight but in of the day they used to make up.

It was like they have forgot the storm and they lived on their own world. The day always started with Arnav sending red flowers as he know that Khushi loves them very much and Khushi used to have crazy ideas which make Arnav really annory and he calling it was really stupid idea. Heading this Khushi always told Arnav, you are so laad governer and she used to leave there. But when Arnav used to come home she always got herself trouble in a way and Arnav couldn't help but to say...What the...

They were happy but it did not mean that everything in their lives were perfect. it was just that they had decided to look below the imperfections and live the life to the fullest because one know ones what will happen tomorrow. Even if they were dieing inside, they did not let it show to their loves ones because they did not want to hurt them.

But one day, when Arnav was working on his laptop, Khushi came in front Arnav and she started to cough really bad and she couldn't even breath. Her face was red due to her cough so much. Arnav took her to the hospital. After some time the doctor came and told him that she is really weak right now and she does not have that much time left now...Arnav had listen to everything the doctor told him. He went inside where his wife was. She was lying on the bed and she really looked so weak and pale. Khushi open her eyes when she heard someone foot step. Khushi smiled at him because she was mesmerized by his handsome looks and told him...

"Land gover, stop looking at me as you are seeing me the first time. I am fine. I just got little weak, so dont worry."

Arnav smiled thu his tears and he took Khushi and he started to tell Khushi...

"Khushi, I am so sorry for everything bad, I have done to you. I know there were times where I have hurted you so much by my actions and believe it hurted me so much to know that I had hurt you. I've always hurt you Khushi, picked on your 'aukat', on your family and upbringing but you always forgave me even though I never deserved your forgiveness...and I definitely don't deserve your nor your love. One thing you should know is that I really love you and always will do. No one will take that place from my heart. "

Khushi gave a small smile and takes Arnavs hands into hers and tells to Arnav...

" Arnavji, you know that it was your love that make me to forgive you and also that even when you said all those things about me, you are forgetting how you used to regret afterwards. Remember also the times when you and I always used to get close to each other without us knowing. Remember when you used to help me and save me and always come when I needed you. When I will leave you and become a star. The 3th one which will shine the most, that will be me, looking at you. We will always be together no matter what because Khushi only belongs to Arnav. (Khushi puts her small hand on Arnavs chest where his heart is beating) Because whenever we are near our hearts beats together and I will always stay inside your heart."

Arnav pulled Khushi into a bone-crushing hug and Khushi also hugged Arnav hard. Arnav kissed Khushis forehead as he wanted to feel Khushi for what it felt last time...Khushi also placed a kiss on Arnavs check and snuggled closer to him. Feeling safe with Arnav beside her, Khushi closed her eyes and there she left the world to become a star but also stay inside Arnavs heart always like she promised...

Flahback ends...

Arnav is on the poolside there he is seeing the sky. Today the sky was clear and could see the star but there was one star which he notice...it was the 3th star which was shining but also his heart is beating fast. Arnav knew then that today his Khushi is with him and she is looking after him just like his mother is...

"I love you, Khushi and happy 1st marriage anniversary"

Arnav placed his hand where his heart is beating just like his Khushi promised him...

"What lies behind us, and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us."

Genre: Romance

We are all, very romantic people. We fall in love all the time. We love talking about it. We love sitting alone & thinking about it.

A stream of light entered through the glass pane as a girl removed the curtains. The sun was rising brightly at its peak, showing that it was almost noon. A figure sleeping on the white bed, groaned in irritation as the light rays attacked his face.

'Someone please slide back the curtain for f**k's sake' he cursed, while putting a pillow on his face. After a while, he heard soft sound of anklets and he knew there was no more sleeping for him. He cursed again. Why me?

'Get up already Arnav! Or do you want a cold water bath?' a girl's voice called him out & he murmured something inaudible. Probably cursing again, she thought rolling her eyes.

'Hell, what the f**k is your problem? Is this the way you take care of your patients in remedial centers?' He cursed once again when he felt his blanket being pulled off him & then suddenly he felt cold splash of water on his face.

'What the f**k!', he cursed again.

'Stop cursing now, okay? I got your morning doses now. Save some for the half day. Anyways, get up now & get ready for your exercises. We have a new goal for today' the girl happily chirped & went towards the cupboard to take out his clothes.

Rubbing his eyes, he climbed down from his bed & reached his bathroom, still yawning. He saw things were already ready for him there & unknowingly he smiled, which was a rare sight. This girl never ceased to surprise him. Latching the door behind him, he decided to get ready for the day ahead.

'In whose thoughts are you lost in Khushi?' he asked to the girl, who was sitting with a notepad in front of him, looking outside the window with a serene smile playing on her lips.

'No one is particular. I was just observing the scenery outside' she replied, still looking out of the window. This made him curious & after drying the sweaty him, he made his way towards her.

He followed her line of sight & what he saw made him roll his eyes. A couple was sitting on the bench of the ground, just holding each other's hands with a smile adorning their faces, saying nothing.

'This was the interesting thing you were talking about?' he said sarcastically earning a frown from her.

'I never said interesting. Because of course, watching a couple's private time is not an interesting business for me. I wanted to show you that those two people are so much in love that even without saying anything, they are talking with their eyes!' she said this with a dreamy look on her face making him roll his eyes yet again!

'Cut the crap Khushi. You know what? Love is an illusion! The sooner you'll understand this, the better it will be for you!' he walked off to change, while she looked at his retreating back, hoping that someday he will definitely understand.

Love is contextual. What you call love today might have been really stupid a few years ago. And what you would call love in few years time might be a heinous crime to you today.

'And..I...Uhmm...I love you Arnav' He never knew, that those 4 words spoken to him, would make him feel so happy! He felt his heart thumping loudly on her admission. Finally, she confessed. Finally she was his! Only his!

'Thank you so much la. You don't know how happy you've made me. I love you baby!' he hugged her tight, not able to control the emotions he was feeling at that time. Being loved by the person you love the most was probably the best feeling ever!

And then came the day when it all got over.

'Oh come one Arnav! Don't be such an emotional fool. I mean, this was just because I loved to hang out with you. I liked being with you & not because I loved you! When did I even tell you that I love you? Where did you get this notion from?'

'But la, that day...You only came to me & confessed your love! You forgot that?'

'Arnav...that was just because I was confused. And I liked you! That's it! Sorry, but I don't think this will work out...and I ...I really like NK...so I am sorry Arnav. I know you'll find someone better!'

And Lavanya had left him alone, in that deserted area behind college. He thought it was all an illusion, that it was just a small fight between them & next day he would make up to her with his love! But that day never came. He saw Lavanya walking away from him & melting into the open arms of NK. He felt a pain in his heart. He felt numb. He turned on his heels and walked and then ran, ran to a place where he thought he'll find peace but what he didn't know was, he was heading towards darkness. Darkness which did consume him completely!

'Arnav, you took your medicines?' Khushi asked him softly, while he was lost in some deep thought. His reverie was broken by her voice & he snapped at her.

'Why you care so much for me? Stop showing your fake affection, okay? I know you are just acting! But I have seen enough of the world & you better stay out of my way'

He knew she wouldn't budge, but what was the problem in trying? He just knew he had to get away from her. He just had to

'Come on Arnav! Spare me of your fake anger. I know that inside you're a good human being. So no matter what you say, it's not going to affect me as I know you aren't saying it with your heart'

He threw his hands in air in frustration. She understood him excessively much for his own good.

'Why are you doing this? Why?' his voice was pleading, rather than the commanding arnav, which she had often witnessed in conversations like this. She smiled and walked over to him, took his hands in his & kept it over her heart.

Because you're my heartbeat'

Arnav was stunned for a moment. Staring into her deep hazel eyes, he saw the concern; care, worry & most importantly love. This was not the first time she was confessing her love. She had been in love with him for a long time, since their high school days. Though she had confessed it to him few months ago, when he was completely broken. He thought she did as an act of sympathy but over the time she proved that she meant it! Every single word she had spoken to him, she meant it! He smiled remembering their old times together, as good friends...though he did not knew she harbored those feelings for him

Khushi, I haven't done my homework. Will you please complete it for me?'

Anything for you arnav'

Khushi, help me! I told my parents that I'll be studying at your place & had gone to my friend's birthday party. So can you please make a call to my house, I'll message you when, so that they are assured that I am with you?'

Anything for you arnav'

Khushi! My date is not well. Will you please be my date for the prom night?'

Anything for you arnav'

Khushi! I like Lavanya. please help me out. Please pretty please'

I...sure arnav. Anything for you'

This crazy girl had never let him down no matter what the situation was. Be it his homework, outings with friends, prom night date or even setting up with the girl he claimed to be in love with, she had always helped him. And when Lavanya had broken up with him, she was the only one to be with him through his tough times. And he wondered how she did that? It was not that her life was a fairy tale! She had a drunkard father who always beat his mother. Her education expenses were all taken care by her part time call center job.

She was the liveliest girl he had ever met. She had never let the dark truth of her life overpower her present. She was epitome of beauty & happiness. Now, by confessing that he had feelings for her too, would ruin everything for her! Yes, he had developed feelings for this cute, crazy & lovable girl in the past 6 months of staying with her, in her remedial centre where she took care of patients who are there to cure their drug addiction. He could not remember the last time when he was showered with such affection. He knew his parents loved him, but always failed to show that to him as they were too busy in making money for his future.

But just coz he had developed feelings for her, didn't mean that he'll give into them. She deserved better. His khushi deserved better. Swallowing the lump in his throat, he barked out.

'Emotions make a fool out of us Khushi. Believe me! Do not become another fool and, as, I have told you before, love is an illusion. Do not let that stupid emotion over power you. Cause it will give you pain at the end.' he ended hoping she would get hurt & leave him. He closed his eyes for a while, surely emotions were something he couldn't deal with.

'I want to experience it Arnav. I've told you before too, that I am ready to risk it, if that means being with you' he jerked his head in her direction. Was this girl crazy? What did she think she was doing?

'Khushi, don't be crazy okay? I am in this remedial centre to get out of my drug addiction. I agreed to the fact that you will be my caretaker because I trust you. But I don't want to spoil your life Khushi. I don't love you and probably can never love anyone. WHY THE HELL DON'T YOU JUST GET ME?' He shouted at the top of his voice, to let his words register into her ears. But what he expected was just the opposite to what he got.

Khushi just gave him a small smile, confusing him.

'The way you do not get that I love you' she spoke so softly, that he could not deduce if she had actually spoken those words.

Pecking his cheeks softly, she repeated herself I love you Arnav for who you are. Every person has a past Arnav, but what matters is the person you are at heart. I know you are the most genuine human being I have ever met, but you're just afraid of letting your heart out. Try once again Arnav. It would not fail every time. Give your heart a second chance Arnav! Just try!' she spoke so sincerely & softly that he stood staring at her. How can someone be so good? What did he do to deserve an angel like her?

Khushi, listen to me. I...we...we cannot be together. I am not MEANT for you. You deserve someone who will always love you. You remember what you'd told me once? That you wanted a prince charming for you, who would sweep you off your feet & would carry you in his white horse. I am not that prince khushi. I am instead a monster, who is so selfish that...I...' he stopped & turned away from her. Closing his eyes for a brief moment, letting his pain in, he spoke in a cold voice.

Khushi, We are just not meant to be. So it'll be better if you get this & move one. Find another guy for you'

That's it! Khushi's patience snapped. Who the hell he thought he was? Somewhere' prince, that whatsoever he said, she would never say no to him?

Aap hote kaun hain tai karma wale ki kya sahi hai aur kya galat?Who are you to decide with whom my happiness lies? Since the past hour, I have been listening to all your you deserve better' crap! I know who is better for me. And that person is ONLY YOU'

Khushi...' but she cut him off. He needed to know what he was to her, what he meant to her.

Every time my father would beat my mother up, I used to feel so helpless...so alone. Then you came as a light in my life. You pulled me out of my sadness & brought light in my life. You taught me how to enjoy every moment of life. It was all because of you! Every moment, every second I have spent with you, I cherish those. Because those were the only moments of my life in which I was alive. Whenever I am with you, everything seems so good in my life. And you have the audacity to say that I deserve someone better? You had been with me in every step of my life. Be it my high school, college & even my University! You were the only understanding friend I might have ever had. And you think that you're useless? But if you think so, then let me tell you arnav, that I love you! I love you for the person you are & will never stop loving you. And if you want, I'll show you how much I love you'

And before he could speak, she sealed his lips with hers. He was shocked, surprise, happy & a sense of calm spread over his mind. He felt himself relaxing & automatically his hand made its way to her waist, feeling the curves of her body. Both were so consumed in themselves that none felt the need to break apart. Leaving her lips, he left feathery kisses on her cheeks, jaw, throat, neck. Exposing a bit of her shoulder, he left a wet kiss on her shoulder blade. She shivered under his touch & tightened her grip in his thick layer of hair. Leaving her cleavage now, his mouth again found hers & their tongues mated.

Breaking apart after feeling the urgent need of oxygen, he rested her forehead on hers.

I never knew that you were such a good kisser. I think I spent lot of my time listening to you, when your mouth could've been put to a much better use.'

She blushed profusely. He smiled seeing the red color adoring her cheeks.

You look more beautiful when you blush...for me'

She smiled again. His eyes traveled down to her lips, which were swollen, looking thoroughly kissed. He rubbed her lips with his thumbs & placed a soft peck on them.

I am sorry khushi. I am sorry for everything...for all the words I have said in this past month. I know I was being an obnoxious jerk after behaving with you like that, knowing that you love me. But...I just couldn't help it. I was scared to feel that emotion once again. I never wanted to be that week again. I just...'

Shhh' khushi shushed him placing her fingers on her lips.

Hum jaante hain..' she spoke softly, meaning those words. She wanted him to know that his past didn't mattered to her, what mattered to her was their present...where can be together.

Let me speak today khushi..' he whispered in a soft tone. She removed her fingers from his lips & cupped his cheeks while gesturing him to speak.

Jab jo bura kiya, uska koi matlab nahi

Jab jo bura kaha, uska koi matlb nahi..

Iss pyaar mei bus ek cheez ka matlb hai..

Ki mai tumse hamesha...hamesha mohobbat karunga'

Never! Never had she felt so happy in her life. Not even when she had received her graduation certificate from the president, not even when she had received her first salary & had handed it over to her mother's hand, whose face had lightened up in delight and not even when she had kissed him few moments ago. Sure those moments were the most precious moments of her life but this...hearing him confess his love for her gave her immense...immeasurable happiness.

Entwining her fingers with his & keeping her head on his chest, while draping his other hand over her other arm, they presented the sight of a couple too much in love. Sitting on their favorite spot in the centre's park, they looked n each other's eyes.

I am sure you'll soon be out of this. And then we'll always be together..'

Arnav khushi...hamesha!' he completed it for her & then both went silent. Happy & contended, their hearts beating in a perfect symmetry.

Mom you guys look so perfect! Awh, I can't believe your love story would've been so cute' vandana said in a dreamy voice while khushi just smiled at her daughter.

Bahut ishq karti ho na aap papa se?' her daughter asked in a soft tone.

Bahut' khushi replied & looked at arnav who was already looking at her, admiring her wife. 18 long years went by but still they surprised each other by falling in love with each other all over again. Who said love gets older by age?

Keeping the family album down her lap, she went towards arnav, leaving vandana awing on her parents pics.

Now I know why they all say they are perfect for each other! They indeed are the perfect two' she exclaimed happily, while khushi & arnav stood there observing their 16 year old daughter. Looking at each other again, they smiled. Their daughter indeed was true!

Winter, monsoon, summer

We will wither every weather

Come here, sit with me,

You make everything look better.

"At the touch of love everyone becomes a poet."

Genre: Comedy

The Language of Love

The crowd quieted as an old melodious tune filled the room, with all eyes on the man holding the microphone, ready to sing a popular Indian song.

Main shaayar to nahii

Magar ai hansii

Jabase dekhaa, maine tujhako, mujhako

Shaayarii, aa gaI

Khushi swooned and Arnav muttered some swear words under his breath.

Arnav possessively slid his arm around Khushi's waist but that didn't stop Banke Lal from his soulful singing.

Main aashiq to nahi

Magar ai hasi

Jabase dekhaa, maine tujhako, mujhako

Ashiqi, aa gai

Arnav had truly thought that Khushi had made up Banke Lal out of jealousy. The mere thought of a paan waala named Banke Laal had seemed impossible and something only Khushi could concoct in her head.

Therefore, he had been stunned when they first seen Banke Laal at tonight's party. Much to his disappointment Banke Laal was actually a good looking and well-built guy, with a thin mustache that suited his look.

Pyaar kaa naam maine sunaa thaa magar

Pyaar kyaa hai ye mujhako nahin thii khabar

Main to ulajhaa rahaa ulajhano kii tarah

Dosto mein rahaa dushmano kii tarah

Main dushman to nahii

Magar ai hansii

Jab se dekhaa, main ne tujhako, mujhako

Dostii aa gai

Of course he tilted his head towards Khushi who smiled at him, as he sang the words. The only word that Arnav seemed to enjoy from that verse was dushman. Yes Banke Lal was an enemy indeed!

Arnav glared at the guy, as Banke Lal's eyes lingered over his arm that was holding Khushi. Banke Lala's gaze was focused on Khushi the majority of the song. The nerve of this paanwalla.. If only Arnav had a paan in his pocket he would love to shove it up his...

Sochataa hu agar main duaa maangtaa

Haath apane uthkar main kyaa maangtaa

Jab se tujhase muhabbat main karane lagaa

Tab se aise ibaadat main karane lagaa

Main qaafir to nahii

Magar ai hasii

Jab se dekhaa, main ne tujhako, mujhako

Bandagii aa gai

The song finally ended, with thunderous applause throughout the room.

"Arnavji ! Let me introduce you to my meant nothing, I mean Banke Lal Ji" she grabbed his hand and pulled him.

Reluctantly he allowed himself to be led towards Banke Lal. Banke Lal was surprised to hear that Khushi was married and Arnav swore that there was a hint of disappointment on his face as well.

"Arrey Khushiji I didn't even know you got married! When did this happen?" he inquired.

"Banke Lalji , we have been married for months now. Forget about me, tell us what you are doing in Delhi" she asked inquisitively.

"I am here as I have been selected as a finalist for the All India Poetry Competition. It's sponsored by The Indian Poetry Society" he said shyly as Khushi squealed in delight.

"Poetry! Wow! Kya Baat Hai! I didn't know you're multi-talented. First you make the best paan and now you even know poetry, the language of love" she said dreamily.

Poetry - the language of love? Who needed poetry when they shared such an amazing chemistry?Arnav couldn't believe Khushi was so impressed with his so called poetry skills. He made a vow to find the best paanwalla in Delhi and take Khushi there very soon!

" Khushiji would you like to see some of my poems? I have a few with me!" BankeLal Ji asked sweetly.

*****

Arnav was so relieved to be headed home from the party. That good for nothing had spent most of the evening reciting some of his mediocre poems. Even Di and Payal had showered excessive praise towards his poems. Unfortunately it was a hot topic of conversation and everyone simply raved about the poems the entire way home. He groaned as he pressed the accelerator, anxious to get home quickly.

The next morning, they were all seated at the breakfast table as Arnav was making his way down.

"Hello Hi Bye Bye"

"I need some mithai" Mamiji said with a smile.

"Mamiji of course you can have sweets

As its needed to make breakfast complete

So please come and have a seat" Anjali smiled as the entire table clapped.

What the! Had his family gone mad?

"Arnavji don't look so surprised.

We have simply been advised

To speak and answer in poems

All day at home" Khushi answered as she stood and took a bow!

This can't be happening , Arnav thought! The poetry madness was continuing on.

"Don't you all have anything better to do than think of poems all day? There's plenty of work at AR if you all are bored" he retorted as jealousy was consuming him once again.

"Nannav mera bhai, kyun itna gussa

Dekhon Aur khaon garam garam samosa

Aur math kar sabka bheja fry

Peena dai mujhe garam garam chai"

Unbelievable! His brain was getting fried at these constant poems that were being recited.

"Bhai now you give it a try

After all you're a cool guy

Show them the wonders of your brain

And that you are in no way mundane"

Akash recited as the females clapped gleefully.

"I don't need to recite poetry to prove myself Akash" he rose up, clearly irritated.

"Yes please leave Arnavji alone

There's no way he could recite a poem

After all he has better things to do like talk on the phone."

*****

Arnav was furious. How dare Khushi think that he was not capable of delivering a poem? After dancing like Salman Khan, reciting a poem would be a piece of cake. He tried to concentrate on the words that flowed naturally to make a poem.

"BankeLal is an enemy

Who doesn't see our chemistry

But if he thinks he's scored a victory

Arnav Singh Raizada will make him history"

A sly smirk spread across Arnav's face as he fled the office to share the poem for Khushi. The language of love was not too hard after all, and he couldn't wait to romance Khushi Kumari Gupta Singh Raizada!

*****

If Khushi was surprised to see Arnav home early, she didn't show it. Arnav was a man on a mission , determined to show that love had changed him and even he was capable of poetry.

He cleared his throat. "Khushi I have something I want to say to you.

Roses are red

Violets are blue

Sugar is sweet"

But before he could finish Khushi angrily put her hands on her hips, and interrupted him.

"Stop! Just what do you think you are doing Arnavji?" she said furiously.

"I'm just reciting a poem, if you would let me finish!" Arnav replied.

"No you can't do it!" Khushi countered.

"Who said? Of course I can! Sugar is sweet and" he tried continuing by.

"Nahin Nahin! If you start saying poems you will get very sick" Khushi said agitated.

"What the! Why do you think I will get sick?" Arnav asked confused.

"Haan Arnavji. If you say sweet things then you will get sick" she said innocently.

"What rubbish! Who the hell told you that?" God help Banke Lal if he had even insinuated that Arnav Singh Raizada was not capable of poetry.

"Kamlesh Kabri says that a person can control their own life. So people that think positive means good things happen to them. If someone has negative thoughts then sadness always surrounds them. Therefore, if you say sweet things you will get sick, since you can't tolerate sugar" she explained reasonably while Arnav looked at her with a baffled look.

Khushi and her 100 ways to ruin a romantic moment!

Only Khushi could translate that into something so ridiculous! But here she was completely believing that he would really get sick by saying a few words, just because he had diabetes. "How many times have I told you to stop watching Kamlesh Kabri and his crap."

"Kamlesh Kabri gives such wise advice!" she defended him.

"Oh really? Where does he have his degree from, because I never ran into him at Harvard" Arnav taunted back.

"Hmmph! Maybe he didn't go to some foreign college but that doesn't mean that he is not intelligent. As a matter of fact, his show is broadcast on TV for this very reason. I don't see anyone asking Arnav Singh Raizada to be on TV and guide people" she snapped.

"Actually Khushi,i I have been offered a TV show as well which was based around the idea how to become a successful business tycoon. But I refused it" he boasted happily, rejoicing in the fact that the conversation was leaning in his favor.

"Good thing you refused! If you were on TV then how would all the ladies function, they would be glued to the TV watching you. Then they would watch repeats of your telecast and no housework would get accomplished! " she said sarcastically as she spun out and left the room.

*****

Arnav was waiting for Khushi. After their little fight earlier, he had made up some excuse and went back to AR. He was confident that Khushi would follow him there, and he could execute his plan without any interruptions. Sure enough, he looked down to see her entering AR, holding a silver tiffin in her hands. It was show time!

He pretended to be busy on the phone, he wanted to rile her up after she had refused him the chance to say a poem. "Sure Monica, I'd love to hear your ideas about expanding the project. Just come by tomorrow and we can discuss it over lunch" he said loudly, pretending not to see that Khushi was standing right there.

Khushi had been feeling guilty about Arnavji being so upset but now she was fuming. He was conducting business as usual, without a care in the world! Well, she would show him that she was also cool with things. She knocked on the door, even though it was wide open to let him know that she was there.

He swirled around to see Khushi standing at the doorway, and motioned for her to come inside. "Well I will see you tomorrow then Monica. Have a great evening" as he hung up the phone.

Khushi set the tiffin down on his desk. "I brought your dinner, in case you have to work late." She opened each compartment to ensure that he would eat right now.

"Aren't you going to join me?" Arnav questioned.

"I won't be able to join you. Actually Di, Jiji, Jiju, Nanheji, and I are going out with Banke Lalji tonight. He actually insisted that you join us, but I told him that you had important work to complete" she grinned widely, fully aware that it would infuriate him that she was going out with Banke Lalji. Of course she really didn't have any plans for tonight, she was merely making it up.

This was the last straw for Arnav! He couldn't digest the idea of Khushi spending the whole evening with Banke Lal and his poetry. It was time for him to do something to make Khushi forget all about him. "Actually I have a special surprise for you in the conference room" as he held her hand and lead her towards the room. She couldn't help but wonder what the surprise was all about. Maybe he had bought her a new red saree?

Her eyes widened in surprise as she entered the conference room and surveyed the tables. This was definitely not at all what she was expecting! What exactly was all this about? Small round tables had been set up and decorated around the room, but it was the items on the table that baffled her. She stepped in closer to see tiny foil covered packets that looked like paan!

"Khushi these are an assortment of some of the best paan you will find anywhere. Try one" he encouraged as he picked one up off the table.

"Arnavji this is really good!" she stated as she finished it off in no time. "But where did you get so much paan from?" as she headed to sample her second one.

"I had Aman gather them from different parts of the city" he revealed as Khushi giggled at Amanji's poor fate.

Arnav slowly treaded towards Khushi, as she stepped backward for each step that he took forward. Eventually he had backed her into the wall. Lifting her chin and staring straight into her eyes, he was ready.

You took my breath away

From the very first day

Those feelings you evoked made me scared

But I could never deny how much I cared

Even though I continued to torment and annoy

You loved wholeheartedly and brought me joy

Your love has changed me for eternity

To the extent that I could write a poem naturally

Love can make anyone do anything

Even make a businessman like me recite poetry and sing

With that he rested his forehead on hers, and let out a satisfactory sigh! Khushi had tears of joy as she basked in the emotions of the moment. The remainder of the evening was blissful indeed. When it was time to go, Arnav began gathering the paan in a bag to take home.

"Arnavji I don't think I will eat so much of paan" she said hesitantly.

"We'll have to see about that. I had Aman buy 100 different types of paan, so that I can stuff one in your mouth every time you get one of your infamous ideas to ruin a romantic moment" he winked.

"What lies behind us, and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us."

Genre: Romance

Sometime happiness comes in form of a pain.

"Happy birthday Khushi!" All her office friends and collegues wished her. "Thank you!" She said in a cheerful tone. "So sweet guys! You know what even I forgot my birthday today. But you all made it special for me." She said cheerfully. Soon her eyes trickled with tears. "What happened Khushi? Why are you crying?" One of her collegues asked. "Nothing yaar. Probably tears of happines." She said while wiping her tears. Everyone celebrated her birthday with great pomp and they all enjoyed thoroughly. If anyone saw her right now would say that she was an independent girl and a person who leads their life without

any problems.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"I am sorry! We couldn't save him"

Khushi woke up in a trance. Sweat beads started to form on her forehead and hand. She ran her hand through her hair. She started crying bitterly. That one night still haunts her. No matter how much she tried but she cannot forget that night which turned her life upside down. Hearing her cry, Payal entered her room and tried to console her. "Khushi calm down. Sshh! Don't cry." Payal whispered. It wasn't the first time that Khushi reacted like this. This happened almost every night.

No one except Payal has seen this side of Khushi. It would be shocking for everyone to believe that Khushi has suffered a lot. The Khushi whom the office members knew and the one Payal knew were probably two different people. Both were like opposite poles. She has managed herself but that nightmare just made her scattered life even worse. She did that job just to keep herself busy. Her day plan was "Wake up, Go to office, Work.. Come back home...Work and then sleep for a few hours only."

Sometimes it doesn't look the same as we see. That's why there's a saying "Never judge a book by it's cover"Khushi has buried this deep pain in her heart. She never shared it with anyone even Payal didn't know the reason behind her nightmares. The only thing she knows that 2 years back when she was in India something happened for which she shifted to her place in US.

"Khushi enough! How long do you think you can keep your pain within yourselves. Trust me.. Tell me everything and you'll feel very light and relieved. Cry as much as you want. In that way all your pain will flow away." Payal said hoping she will respond. Payal walked towards the door as she knew that she would never say it to her but may be today was the day. "Payal!" Khushi called out for her. "Yes?" Payal came back running. "I'll tell you evrything tonight. You know I never said it because I thought recalling those moments may hurt be all over again but I think it's high time that you should know my reason behind comig here." Khushi said. "No Khushi, I am asking you because I know if you share your problem then it will make you feel better and you'll be free from the

clutches of this pain." Payal elaborated her reason.

FLASHBACK

"Chotey, Chotey Chotey!" Anjali was calling out for Arnav holding his sherwani. "Di, clam down what's wrong?" Arnav tried to cool her down. "What is this Chotey? Today is your wedding and you are busy with your office work? Not fair. Before I forget again take this sherwani. It's your wedding suit." Anjali said it quickly. "Fine di!" Arnav said. "Chotey.. I am so happy for you and Khushiji." She said while tears of happiness rolled down her cheeks. "Di.. don't cry today at least and yeah I know that your tears are out of happiness but still. Smile suits you rather than these stupid tears." He said which made Anjali smile.

"Khushi hurry up!" Buaji yelled. "We have to reach the venue soon before your in-laws reach." She added. "I'm coming!" Khushi answered.

After 20 minutes

Khushi came out wearing her heavy designed lehenga. Buaji was in awe. Her sanka devi looked like a fallen angel. Khushi wore a deep red lehenga which was gifted by Arnav. After all it was Arnav's choice how can she not look good. She wore gold jewellry which complimented her lehenga equally. She put on a very light make-up yet she looked so beautiful and mesmerizing. Her hands were full of bangles and her palm were adorned with detailed design of henna with

"Arnav" written on it.

"Khushi you like an angel, dear!" Buaji said with a smile. "Really? Thanks buaji" She hugged her tightly. "Now lets go or else we'll see that Arnav babua will wait for you." They both and their relatives left for the venue.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Everyone reached the venue. The Guptas welcomed the Raizadas but Buaji was a bit shocked when she found out that Arnav wasn't present there but Anjali

assured her that he'll reach before the auspicious time. Time was paasing by but there was no sign of Arnav. Khushi became impatient and she did feel something was wrong.

On the road

"Today Khushi will kill me for sure!" Arnav chuckled while saying. He was driving a bit fast as he had to reach the venue soon. "Oh o! This is the 3rd time

Khushi has called me. I should call her back." He tries calling her while driving but the phone slipped and fell down. "Crap." He tried to pick up. he

picked up his phone when all he saw a flash of yellow light.

At the venue

All the guests started to leave the venue. Both the families were ashaned and Khushi broke down. Not because Arnav wasn't there. She had full faith on him but she prayed to her Devi Maiya hoping that Arnav is fine. "Khushi ji everything will be fine." Anjali and all the Raizada members tried to console her.

"Di please call him! I am scared.. What if..." Suddenly Khushi's phone started to ring. It was Arnav's. "Hello? Arnavji.. Arnavji where are you. Are you fine?" Khushi asked in one breath. "Hello madam. I am not Arnav. I am from XYZ hospital and here to inform you that Mr.Raizada has met with an accident.

Please come here soon." The person said from the other side.Khushi couldn't believe her ears. Everything became still. She felt herself go numb. She fell down on the floor crying bitterly. "Khushi ji what happened?"

Everyone started to ask. "Arnavji!" She screamed his name out which made Anjali feel scared. "She cried and said, "Di.. Arnav..Ar..navji met with an acc...ident!" And she broke down again. EVeryone panicked and Anjali thought about his Chotey.

XYZ hospital

Both the families reached the hospital. Khushi was in a very bad state, so was Anjali. "Doctor.. Arnav?" Khushi asked. "I am sorry. We couldn't save the patient." The doctor said. It seemed like Khushi's world had came to an end. "You are lying! He can't.. He can't.. please tell me that you are joking.

Please tell me!!!" She screamed. "Please take care of her!" The doctor said and excused himself. There Nani, Anjali, NK and Mami were crying. Buaji and NK tried to control Khushi but seemed like she had lost her mental sense. She went to the morgue and saw his lifeless body lying on the stretcher. "Arnav.. please get up! See i am wearing the dress you gifted me. It's pur wedding today! Wake up arnav please. You can't deceive me like this. Get up!!!" She

screamed and tried to wake him up. She started to slap him and shake him hoping that would wake him up but all went in vain. "Arnav!" She screamed and fell on the floor.

END OF FLASHBACK

"Arnav" Khushi screamed. Payal's eyes were teary by now. Her little sister had gone through so much and she didn't even know about it. Never in her worst nightmares she could've thought that Khushi had gone through so much. She always stayed happy and kept others happy too well who knew that her smile was her pain.

Thus there's a saying "Being happy doesn't mean that everything is perfect. It means that you've decided to look beyond the imperfections." Probably this quote was made for Khushi.

"Being happy doesn't mean that everything is perfect. It means that you've decided to look beyond the imperfections."

Genre: Tragedy

Zindagi Kaisi Paheli

Arnav was driving back to his home. Home, where his Nani and his Khushi lived. Khushi - only the name was enough to bring a warm smile on his lips.

Arnav and Khushi were best of friends, since...forever. He clearly remembers the day when an angel named Khushi entered his life.

A five-year-old Arnav was quietly sitting on his bench in school, eating his lunch, during recess. He was new in this school. Hence, had no friends yet. Just then a girl with two pigtails came and sit beside him, and in the most cheerful tone said, "Hello!! Mera naam Khushi hai. Aur tumhara?" ("Hello!! My name is Khushi. And yours?"). Arnav being very introvert and shy by nature, hesitated to talk to her. Not getting any reply, Khushi poked Arnav on his shoulder. By then Arnav had finished his lunch, so he put his lunch-box in his bag and got up to go and wash his hands, ignoring Khushi. Khushi also went behind him. But still Arnav wasn't responding to her, he ran away from her to avoid her. But Khushi being, well...Khushi, how could she leave him alone. She also started running after him. Both kind of started enjoying the game. When Arnav stopped and turned around to find Khushi standing before him giving him her biggest grin, he also smiled and pulling her pigtail said, "Main Arnav hoon." (I am Arnav."), and they started laughing.

Noise of loud horns made Arnav came back to the present time. He was so into the memory that he didn't realize when the light turned green at the traffic. He started the engine and again zoomed towards his destination, memories of past running in his mind.

Arnav and Khushi were neighbors too. Their friendship grew stronger and more stronger as the days passed. While Arnav was a person of very small talks, Khushi was exactly opposite. Her lively nature and bright smile were the reasons why everyone liked her, and also probably why Arnav liked her a little more too, but did not realize until that day.

Arnav never realized how much he loved Khushi, how much importance does she hold on Arnav's life. It was not like Arnav took Khushi for granted but he always thought that Khushi was meant to be with him forever.

He felt his breathing stop when he heard that Khushi's marriage was fixed, with another guy. Everyone was happy, he also wanted to be but couldn't even smile from his heart. He still couldn't understand the meaning of that piercing ache in his heart. He went to meet Khushi, immediately.

Standing at the door of her room, looking at Khushi, who was in her own dreamland probably weaving her future married life, with a small shy smile on her face, Arnav realized for the first time the true meaning of his feelings towards Khushi. He knew Khushi was happy with this marriage proposal. He just knew, by looking at her. They never needed any words to express what is in their heart anyway. At that very moment Arnav decided that no matter what happens, he'll never let that smile falter off Khushi's face, his feelings be damned. But easier said than done. As the marriage preparations started, Arnav felt as if his life was slipping from him day-by-day slowly. He was there all the time with Khushi, as she won't have it otherwise. She would always want her best friend for everything. Arnav also did all of it, although grudgingly but with a small smile only to hide the immense pain he was having in his heart. the toughest part was when Khushi was biding adieu, after her marriage, to her family. Her eyes searched for Arnav, but he was nowhere to be seen. He saw everything but did not come in front of her, afraid of not being in control of his emotions. Khushi couldn't even see him before going to her husband's house. That night nobody could see Arnav. He was all alone, locking himself in terrace, crying. Crying for the future he could have had with Khushi, crying for the chance he never had to tell Khushi about his feelings.

After three months another tragedy took place in Arnav's life and this time in Khushi's life too. Arnav's and Khushi's parents being friends were invited to a dinner party, they were returning but couldn't reach their homes. They met with an accident on the way and were spot dead, leaving Arnav and Khushi as orphans. Fate could not be crueler to Arnav. He was shattered. More than that he was angry, at his fate. He didn't even meet Khushi when she came to do the final rituals. And Khushi left, again, without meeting him.

After that day Arnav became all the more introvert, rude and arrogant. He stopped believing in fate because that left him nowhere with his love and family. He never moved on, he couldn't. Whenever Devyani, his Nani, would ask him of his thoughts about his marriage, he would just outright dismiss the topic. He focused too much on his work because that was the only way to deviate his mind off Khushi and his parents, even after three years.

"I am fine", he would often try to convince his nani with a smile but only his heart knew that he was far far worse.

The sudden jerk again made Arnav came out of his thoughts. He was home. Getting out of his car and handling the key to Om Prakash, he went inside. He saw his nani sitting on the couch and chanting her prayers. He went and sat beside her. "Aur kitni puja karengi aap, Nani?" ("How much will you pray, Nani?"), said Arnav with a gentle smile. Devyani looked at her grandson and very affectionately, brushing hairs from his forehead, said, "Aaj itni jaldi aa gaye, bitwa." ("You came so early today, son.").

"Haan who bass . . . Khushi kaha hai?" ("Yes, actually . . . Where is Khushi?"), Arnav asked looking here and there. Devyani smiled a little bit more and said, "Who aapan kamre mein hain." ("She is in her room.").

Before she could even complete her sentence, Arnav went to her room to meet Khushi. Devyani just looked at where Arnav went and thought, "Arnav ko apni khushi' mil hi gayi." ("Arnav got his happiness' at last.").

Khushi was standing by the window, one hand on her belly, lost in her thoughts. Arnav went and stood by her side and placing his hand on her shoulder said, "Kya soch rahi ho, Khushi?" ("What are you thinking, Khushi?"). She let out a sigh realizing that Arnav was there. She turned towards Arnav, smiled, which did not quite reach her eyes, and said, "Kuch nahi." ("Nothing."). Arnav looking at her belly, which had a slight bump, asked her, "How is she?". When Arnav asked her this, there was a warm feeling in his eyes, Khushi noted.

"Wo bhi theek hai." ("She is also fine."), said Khushi caressing her belly and with a smile which, this time, did reach her eyes.

"Tumne khana khaya?" ("Did you have food?"), asked Arnav concernedly.

"Nahi...bass mann nahi-" ("No...didn't feel like-")

But before Khushi could complete her sentence, Arnav bit out angrily, "Tumne abhi tak kuch nahi khaya? Tum janti ho tumhare liye sab kuch time pe hona kitna zaruri hain. Tum itni laparwah kaise ho sakti ho? Agar tumhari tabiyat khaab ho jaati toh? Agar baby ko kuch ho jaata toh?" ("You didn't eat anything yet? You know how much it is important for you to be everything on time. How can you be so careless? What if you got sick? What if something happened to the baby?").

Khushi looked at Arnav warmly and her lips curved upwards a bit. Putting her hand on his shoulder, she said. "Arnav! Bass!! Kuch nahi hua. Hum dono thik hai. Tum itni choti si baat par itne pareshan kyu ho jaate ho?" ("Arnav! Enough!! We both are fine. Why do you get so tensed on petty matters?").

Arnav frustratingly raking his fingers through his hair, gritted out, "Choti si baat? Tum...tum baitho, main khana lekar aata hoon." ("Petty matters? You...you just sit here, I'll bring the food.").

Arnav went outside to bring her food. Khushi sat on the bed, lost in the thoughts of her past.

It has been only three months of Khushi's marriage when hers and Arnav's parents' accident took place. She was shattered. When she went to her parents' home, she wanted to meet Arnav and share her pain with him. But Arnav was nowhere to be seen. Being hurt, Khushi returned to her in-laws' house.

Khushi was happy in her married life. Her husband loved her, her in-laws adored her but she realized that it was all a drama, when after three years she got pregnant. It was the happiest day of her life when she got the news that she was going to be a mother. Being the ever-joyful girl, she immediately started weaving dreams of her life with her little family. But it soon shattered when she was forced to go through the test by which her child's sex could be determined. It was found out that the child was a baby girl. Her furious in-laws after knowing this tried to force her for abortion for many days. Fearing for her child's life, she fled from there and took shelter in an orphanage far away from her in-laws' house, so that they can never find her and her child.

She started living life by her own, accepting her fate. But she was no more the Khushi that everybody used to know. Now, she talked less, didn't mingle with people and her smile got lost somewhere. And that's when and where Arnav found her. He was there for some other personal reason. On seeing him, she couldn't control her emotions anymore. When Arnav heard her story, he went mad with the rage boiling inside him. He wanted to punish those people who dared to hurt Khushi but Khushi stopped him saying that she doesn't want any more interactions with those people. After many arguments, Arnav agreed and also convinced Khushi to go with him to his home.

And now after three months she was here. Arnav and Nani took care of her a lot.

Arnav, always concerned about her, never let her realize that she was an outsider here. Outsider - if Arnav would hear this, he would have been very furious. Once during their ever going arguments, Arnav told her that she and her child were his responsibility now and she will only do things which he will tell her to do.

That day Khushi was very angry on him. But now whenever she recalls this incident, a warm and content smile comes up on her lips.

Arnav always stood beside her in every step during her pregnancy. He was even there on her first ultrasonography. The sweet and warm smile on Arnav's face when they heard baby's heartbeat was so heart touching as if this was his own baby. His baby - yes, of course it was his baby, his and Khushi's baby. So what if it wasn't his own blood. He was a true father to this child in every sense. Nobody can take this right from him.

She knows. She knows what Arnav feels for her. She can read it in his eyes. Tough he had never told her. Stupid Laad Governor of hers. Yes, he was hers. After so many years when she was really happy with her life, she knew that it was all because of Arnav. She has fallen for him, not out of obligation. The feeling was from her heart, purely involuntary. She knows Arnav is planning to propose her for marriage. When he will do that, she would have only one answer to his question.

The sound of footsteps told Khushi that Arnav was there. He was standing by her bed with a plate full of food. Khushi holding Arnav's wrist made him sit by her side. Arnav sat and took a spoonful of rice and held it in front of Khushi's mouth. Khushi automatically opened her mouth and took it. Arnav was preparing for another morsel when Khushi quietly asked, "Hum dono tumhe bohot pareshan karte hai na?" ("We both trouble you a lot, right?")

Arnav looked at Khushi at once as if he was accused for a crime he never did.

"Tum aisa kyu soch rahi ho, Khushi? Tum aur princess meri zimmedaari ho. Tum dono ka pura haq hai mujh par. Main kabhi tumse pareshan nahi ho sakta." ("Why are you thinking like this, Khushi? You and princess are my responsibility. You both have right on me. You can never trouble me."), he explained for the umpteenth time.

"Hum tumpe haq kyu jataye Arnav?" ("Why should we have right on you Arnav?"), Khushi asked innocently. She was trying to test Arnav's patience that till when he will hold his feelings from her.

"Haq hai kyuki...", Arnav shut his eyes frustrated by not able to express his feelings but decided it has to be done anyway, he wouldn't have it otherwise, then why not now?

Arnav held Khushi's hand, keeping the plate on the side-table.

"Khushi, main tumse kabhi yeh baat keh nahi paya, lekin abb aur chup nahi reh sakta." ("Khushi, I could never tell you this, but not anymore, I can't be silent anymore.").

Arnav paused for a bit.

"Pichle teen salon se main ek jhuthi zindagi jee raha tha. Dil ko tasalli deta tha ki main khush hoon par sachhai usse koso dur thi. Mamma aur Dad ko khone ke baad main aur toot gaya. Lekin jab main tumse firse uss orphanage mein mila, tab laga ki meri saansein wapas aa gayi hai. Lekin meri Khushi kahi kho gayi thi..." ("I was leading a false life from the past three years. Used to console my heart that I was happy but the truth was miles away from that. After loosing Mamma and Dad, I broke all the more. But when I met you at that orphanage, I felt like I found my breath. But my Khushi was lost somewhere...")

Khushi was weeping slightly but she had a small smile on her face, a genuine smile.

Hearing her sobs, Arnav looked up but seeing her smile he got back his confidence and he said further, directly looking at her eyes, "Main tumse bohot pyaar karta hoon Khushi. Nahi dekh sakta tumhe aise. Ek baar tumhe kho chuka hoon, dobara nahi khona chahta. Main apni zindagi aur akele nahi bitana chahta. Tumhare saath bitana chahta hoon. Tum aur princess meri duniya ho, mera sab kuch ho..." ("I love you a lot Khushi. Can't see you like this. I have lost you once; don't want to lose you again. I don't want to live my life alone anymore. I want to spend it with you. You and princess are my world, my everything...")

He put his other hand on her bump.

"...nahi jee sakta tum dono ke bina. Pata hai, Khushi, jab pehli baar maine princess ki dhadkan suni toh aisa laga ki wo mujhe pukar rahi hai, ajeeb sa sukun aaya dil ko..." ("...can't live without both of you. You know, Khushi, when I heard princess's heartbeat for the first time it felt like she was calling me, I had a strange peace in my heart...")

Arnav's eyes were moist.

"Princess meri beti hai, Khushi. Wo meri gudiya hai. Khushi, main humaare ateet ka saaya bhi princess par padne nahi dunga. Hum ek nayi shuruat karenge. Hum aur humari gudiya. Sab bhool jao, Khushi. Jitna bura hua sab. Kyuki abb sab acha hoga, main kuch bura hone hi nahi dunga. Kushi, marry me?") ("Princess is my daughter, Khushi. She's my doll. Khushi, I wont let even the shadow of our past to fall on our princess. We'll have a new start. Our princess and we. Forget everything, Khushi. Forget all those bad things. Because all will be well now, I won' let anything bad happen. Marry me, Khushi?")

A teardrop fell from Arnav's eyes.

Finally he confessed his feelings to her, he felt an abnormal peace at his heart. Only he didn't know that he had to just ask her, the answer was ready.

"Haan." ("Yes."), Khushi said cupping Arnav's cheeks by her hands. "Main apne ateet ko bohot pehle bhula chuki hoon, Arnav. Abb meri Zindagi mein sirf tum, hamari bacchi aur yeh parivaar hai. Humari choti si duniya." ("I had let go of my past a long time ago, Arnav. Now there are only you, our daughter and this family in my life. My small world.")

Khushi was crying by now, but the tears were of happiness.

Arnav covered her hand with his and leaned on it to feel her touch more. He had a warm smile on his face.

Khushi further said, "Main tumse shaadi karne ke liye taiyaar hoon, Arnav. Isliye nahi kyuki mujhe karna chahiye balki isliye kyuki main karna chahti hoon." ("I am ready to marry you, Arnav. Not because I should but because I want to.")

As soon as Khushi said this, Arnav hugged her tightly, cradling her head near his heart. He kissed her forehead with as much as he could shower on her. Their tears mixing with each other, having a happy and content smile on their faces.

They knew that their life wasn't perfect but they have learnt to look beyond the imperfections and be happy with what they have. And they felt that their life will be nothing but perfect from now on. They will make it perfect. Together.

"What lies behind us, and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us."

Genre: Romance

Love is...

The stage was set for the biggest fashion show of the year. AR Designs was launching four new brands in the Indian market and one new line would be for the international market. 'The Grand Hotel' in Vasant Kunj, Delhi, was experiencing a flurry of activity. Models, designers and the who's who of the fashion world were present. Bollywood celebrities, top industrialists and even a few international designers were expected to grace the event.

Amidst all this excitement, Arnav Singh Raizada, the 28-year old owner of AR Designs, was busy greeting people. This frivolity did not appeal to him...even though it was an absolute must in his line of work - a necessary 'evil', according to him. Arnav Singh Raizada was known to be short-tempered, arrogant and broody in the industry, yet, it was his astute, sharp mind and his meticulous efficiency, that made him a force to be reckoned with. He was a shrewd businessman with an uncanny knack for spotting talent. He had given an opportunity to many young Indian designers, to showcase their creativity.

Arnav had been quite reserved since childhood, although he had always been popular for his Greek-God looks and his mysterious nature. People wished to get closer to him to know more about him. His being the son of a rich industrialist was an added inducement. However, Arnav was indifferent to people that showered him with attention... especially, to the women who loved to cling to him. He had never dated the same girl for more than a year and all of them had been warned not to expect a long-time commitment from him. He neither had the time for it, nor the inclination to get tied down to a single woman, for a lifetime. What he did not know however, was that his beliefs were going to change... forever.

The show had been going on smoothly so far. Arnav was seated in the front row, reveling in the applause of the audience. The Indian brands were launched with Bollywood celebrities as show-stoppers. However, for the international line, he had not seen the models or even had a chance to look at their portfolios. NK, his cousin, was good at that task and he had completely relied on him. As the models made their way on the ramp, the audience 'oohed' and 'aahed' their admiration for the innovativeness and creativity, that the designers had unleashed. Arnav knew that this line was extremely important to open new avenues globally, and right now, the appreciation for it seemed phenomenal.

The moment the lights dimmed and the music reached its crescendo, Arnav almost stopped breathing. The show-stopper walked onto the ramp, dressed in an elegant red gown enhanced with delicate work in shimmering gold. Her stunning beauty, elegance and poise took his breath away. She was a vision to behold and the red of the gown, complemented her milky-white skin. His eyes moved over her perfect body... the slit in the gown giving an ample view of a long toned leg. Her graceful walk had stunned the audience into pin-drop silence as she took her position on the front stage.

She walked back again onto the stage, hand-in-hand with the designers, amidst a loud cheer. However, all that Arnav saw was a blur of movement. His sole focus was on her mesmerizing face and a pair of soulful hazel eyes. As he was invited on stage, he went up to her and she bent forward to air-kiss him. Her fragrance, the feel of her soft cheek against his and her luminous face, captivated his heart...and soul. He did not recollect how he managed to give the concluding speech or how he managed to converse and accept the congratulatory wishes or how he survived the endless after-event party. All he remembered were those sparkling hazel eyes, which had awoken a bittersweet memory from a long time ago.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Khushi Kumari Gupta was excited. It was Friendship Day at St. Stephen's College and Khushi was excited at the prospect of tying friendship bands to her entire batch. She had always been a very friendly and warm person and had easily managed to make friends in college. She had got a scholarship this year, and hence had been able to convince her parents to let her stay in Delhi by herself, while they stayed back in Lucknow. They had been initially reluctant to send their only daughter all alone to a city like Delhi. Thankfully, her Buaji stayed here, and she had persuaded them with her help.

Junior college was meant for fun and most of her gang were loitering across the campus, tying bands...even to strangers. However, Khushi had only one focus - Arnav Singh Raizada's friendship. There was no more denying the fact that she had a huge crush on him...since the last one year. Khushi knew that Arnav barely spoke to anyone in their class, other than his group of four friends. However, he was a brilliant student, excelling in academics and sports. His arrogance and reserve added to his charm and she was drawn to him like a magnet...although, what really drew her to him were his molten brown eyes...mysterious and intriguing. Sometimes, the way he looked at her...she felt she would combust into flames. Today, she was finally going to muster some courage and try to break the ice with him.

Khushi knew that it was not going to be easy. Arnav's girlfriend, Lavanya, never lost an opportunity to demean Khushi about her financial status. Arnav's group comprised of rich and spoilt brats. Unfortunately for her, her poor innocent heart had fallen for him...hard. She knew that he had indirectly helped her get away several times, from the snide remarks thrown her way. He had even yelled at Lavanya a few times for doing so. His behaviour, so at odds with that of his friends, confused her. She was going crazy trying to uncover the mysterious moods of this man.

Knowing that Lavanya and Arnav were together, all she wanted was to be friends with Arnav and get to know him a little better. Maybe, then she would be able to get over him? Today was going to be the day she took her first step in this direction. She saw Arnav standing alone, outside the library and took the opportunity to approach him...a friendship band clutched tightly in her hand, her steps a little shaky and a heart that thudded dangerously. Even before she could call out to him, he turned around and her hazel eyes clashed with his brown ones. Lost she was, in the depths of those captivating eyes...

After a long while, she managed to break the spell and fumbled with words, "Hey, Arnav! Happy Friendship Day... Hmmm... ummm...I just...I just wanted to tie this friendship band to you." She saw his eyes change colour and darken at her words. She saw his gaze linger on her face and then move up her entire form. She shivered at his smoldering gaze. He took a couple of steps towards her, but before he could say anything, Lavanya had managed to come and stand between them.

Then...began that unforgettable humiliation...Khushi's character, her class, her clothes, her "behenji" looks, her financial status...all were thrown in her face by Lavanya. Khushi had tried to defend herself, but Lavanya had been uncontrollable and had used every foul word and then some, to degrade her. A crowd had gathered around them, and all Khushi could see, were her own feet, where the friendship band had unceremoniously fallen from her hand. She heard Arnav trying to stop Lavanya a few times. She had had enough of this humiliation and finally looked up at Arnav. The sheen of tears, made it impossible for her to gauge his expression, and before he could say another word, she had turned around and walked away.

The next few weeks were the toughest ones for her, preparing for the mid-term exams and trying to ignore Arnav. He had tried to talk to her several times, but not once had she responded. Coincidentally, her father was getting transferred to Mumbai after the term-end and her family had decided to shift Khushi to a college there. Things had moved at a fast pace...the exams were over and there was a complete change in her life. Mumbai had brought along with it, new hopes and new dreams. She had joined a modeling institute suggested by a friend, to earn some extra money for her family...but what it had done for her, was to open doors to a completely new world.

After completing college and doing a few ramp shows in Mumbai, she had been shortlisted by a French brand, to model for them. Her shift to Paris had been welcomed by her parents, and thus, a girl from a small town had become an A-List model for French couture. The six years she spent in Paris had been the most memorable ones of her life. She'd dated a few men on and off, but nothing could erase the memory of those brown eyes from her mind...her soul...however hard she tried. She had met NK casually at a party, and that had led to a fashion show in a city, she hated. However, once she knew who the owner was, the anticipation of meeting the man with the most mesmerizing eyes, was too tempting to resist. And so...here she was, at the AR Designs' party.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

The last time Arnav had looked into those hazel eyes, they had been filled with tears of hurt. That was a memory he had tried to forget for years, but had never quite succeeded. He had broken off with Lavanya, that day itself, and then had tried to speak to Khushi for weeks afterwards. However, she had refused to even look at him. He knew she was badly hurt, and somehow he had to make it up to her... otherwise, he would be damned forever! The mid-term exams had whizzed by in a blur and he had made up his mind to speak to her after Diwali. What he did not know then, was that he would never get to see Khushi again. She had vanished, and after asking a few of her friends, he had found out that she had shifted to Mumbai. His heart had ached then and had been aching since...to get just one glimpse of her... He needed one chance to apologize; to tell her what he had wanted to say that day. That old ache had re-surfaced quickly, in his heart a while ago, when he had seen her walk on that ramp.

Arnav was busy in conversation with various people, but his mind was attuned to Khushi, who stood at a distance, chatting cheerfully with some models. He could not believe how drastically she had changed. He had always thought her to be beautiful... her simplicity and innocence being her special attributes. Right now, she looked absolutely celestial. He wondered if she would leave the past behind and talk to him. The only way to know for sure, would be to go and speak to her. There was no point in just staring at her for hours... like he had been doing all evening.

"Hey Khushi, I hope you remember me." Khushi turned around, hearing that husky voice, which had always unnerved her. The moment she looked into the molten brown eyes...she went back in time...it was as if nothing had changed in all these years... as if, she was still the same Khushi from ten years ago, who had been crazy about a boy... it was as if nothing mattered...not the past... not the future... all that mattered was, this moment...what she felt for him. She still felt that old hurt... but what she could not ignore, was the strong pull, that she felt towards him. Composing herself with difficulty, she managed to say, "Hey Arnav, of course, I remember you. I thought you would be the one to forget me."

He sensed the hurt in her voice and decided at that very moment... that he would do anything to make it up to her. He spent the rest of the evening by her side, not caring about the paparazzi, or that he was the host, who should be attending to the other guests as well. Arnav knew just one thing, that he had to apologize to her and tell her his side of the story and atleast try to initiate a friendship...a friendship that had never quite begun, all those years ago. He had to make up for all that lost time, and now that destiny had given him an opportunity, Arnav Singh Raizada was not one to back out.

The evening had ended exceptionally well for Khushi, as Arnav dropped her home. She was finally able to let go of a hurtful memory and they had decided to catch up soon for dinner. Her heart felt lighter for the first time in years. She had not expected an apology from the ruthless Raizada, but she had got that and so much more. She had been right about him...there was much more to the reserve and arrogance he portrayed. She finally was getting an opportunity to know him better. AR Designs had offered to sign an exclusive contract with her, and it had nothing to do with her equation with him. She could not wait for her stay to begin, back again in India.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

If Arnav had to put it in one word, the next four months were simply 'magical'. Khushi and he had initially, gone out for friendly dinners and outings. They had talked about college, the last ten years and about their previous relationships. Both of them were extremely comfortable with each other, like two pieces of a puzzle, that were meant to fit. They were aware of the intense physical attraction they felt, and now they had started bonding emotionally too. He had realized that the last ten years had done nothing to reduce the innocence of this child-woman, who seemed to bring out the best in him. He had never felt so alive in his life and she was soon becoming his necessity. Inspite of living in two separate cities, they managed to find time to spend with each other.

Khushi was on cloud nine. She was back with her parents, had big work projects and was happy in her relationship with Arnav. Over the past few months, she had become very close to Arnav and had discovered the warm, caring and loving person he was. She realized that probably, that time...all those years ago, was not meant to be... Although, today surely was and she knew how hard she was falling for him. He had introduced her to his family, and she already felt like a part of them. The only thing remaining was to acknowledge their relationship...finally. She had made up her mind to tell him what she felt about him... tonight.

Tonight! Arnav was going to propose. He had been mustering the courage to tell Khushi, his deep feelings for her, and to take their relationship to the next level. He had asked Khushi out to dinner, and had a perfect plan in place. He waited at the venue, an open garden, beautifully decorated...like a college classroom. The wooden dinner table, had two tiny benches placed opposite each other. There was a blackboard in the corner, with a quote on love written by Shakespeare. There were candles and fairy-lights all around the garden, dotting the trees and shrubs. He always knew, when she was around, even before she entered. And there she stood, looking enchanting in a beautiful white dress.

Khushi was stunned to see the venue. She had been wondering why Arnav had invited her for dinner to a garden, instead of a restaurant. The moment she felt her heartbeats escalate, she knew he was there. After taking a few more steps, she saw him, dressed in a sleek black suit and a white shirt, looking as gorgeous as ever. She walked towards him and asked him,"What is all this, Arnav? A college bench...a black board? Why are we back in college?" She giggled like a school girl, making Arnav's heart almost leap out of his chest. He held out his hand and bent down on one knee, while she easily placed her hand in his. Her alluring hazel eyes, sparkled brightly with anticipation, making him anxious to share his feelings.

"Khushi... I wish I could go back ten years ago, and change what happened that day, but let's just leave that behind us. Today I want to tell you, what I had wanted to say then... yes, I had wanted to be friends with you, Khushi Kumari Gupta... but not anymore." He saw her scrunching up her face nervously. Suppressing the urge to chuckle, he continued, "I want to tell you that I have fallen head-over-heels in love with you. I want to be bound to you for eternity, Khushi."

Khushi saw him delve his hand into his pocket to remove a box. When she looked at what it held, she could not stop the tears flooding her eyes. A lone tattered friendship band lay in it. The same band that she had dropped at her feet... years ago.

"Will you do me the honor of marrying me, Khushi?" She nodded eagerly, tears rolling down, and dropped to her knees, hugging him, kissing him. Almost reverently, he tied the band around her slim wrist and slipped a ring onto her finger. Time stood still...the two lovers engulfed in a vortex of love and emotions so strong, that the two seemed one.

And that IS what LOVE IS... isn't it? One word... to describe the purest connection that lies between two beautiful souls.

"What lies behind us, and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us."

Genre: Romance

Acidity, Rabba Ve, Dhak-Dhak, or LOVE?

"Like a sunflower, that follows every moment of the sun,

So I turn towards you, to follow you, my Lord"

The loud chorus could be heard even outside the massive gates of St Xavier's School as hundreds of students sang their morning prayer, their voices reverberating in the silence of chilling morning of early-January.

It was one of those rare ground assemblies of winters and most of the eyes were forcibly closed, hands joined in dedication as teachers of their respective classes inspected the rows with full-fledged attention, giving occasional taps on the shoulder of the students who tried opening their eyes or sneaking glances at random objects.

In between those myriad pair of closed eyes were a pair of hazel green eyes which were rebellious enough to remain wide open even in the presence of discipline loving Mr D'Souza who was hovering around the row of XII standard students. These almond shaped, oceanic eyes belong to our female protagonist Khushi who as of now was vehemently staring another pair of closed caramel pair of eyes which were a part of the boy's row of same standard.

Her gaze after lingering on his closed eyes travelled down to his nose and then to his lips which constantly moved as he recited the lines of that decade old prayer.

She was about to avert her gaze when all of a sudden those caramel pools opened and caught her red-handed, making embarrassment suffuse all over her countenance while the latter seemed to enjoy the moment. Khushi was quite taken aback by small smile which was developing on the corner of his lips. This was the first time she had seen him smile. But even before she can cherish the moment, his smile was abruptly pulled off his face and replaced by a serious composure.

Ever since the new session had started and he was enrolled in their class as a new student, Khushi had found a strange feeling invading her heart and taking a permanent residence in there. And to her surprise, this exotic feeling had caused two serious problems within her. Whenever his eyes rested upon her face, she could feel a loud hammering in her heart, which said sounded more like Dhak-Dhak'. And the bigger problem was that whenever he'd be somewhere around her, she can actually feel his presence.

Acidity. She had named it. And this acidity would worsen every time he'd call her name in his throaty, husky voice.

This acidity has been continuous since past six months and the problematic part was that she was loving this acidity.

Pushing back her thoughts she once again lifted her gaze to see him, but surprisingly or not so surprisingly his intense gaze was already focused on her. As if already on queue, her heart once again started hammering and she could hear the Dhak-Dhak'.

"Pehla nasha, Pehla khumaar, Naya pyaar hai, Naya intejaar" Payal, who was standing right behind Khushi hummed the lines loud enough for her to hear.

"Jeeji" Khushi said in a suppressed warning tone.

"What? I was just telling you that the prayer is over" Payal leaned in a bit and whispered in her ear which made Khushi realise that her hands were yet joined and she instantly pulled them apart, earning a giggle from Payal.

Enough..!

She mentally screamed. This was enough. This couldn't continue this way. She wouldn't let it.

She'll have to talk to him and know what was he doing to her.

That Arnav Singh Raizada. What does he thinks of himself? Why the hell he keeps giving her those intense looks but never dares to come and talk about it?

Well, if he can't she will. Deciding that, she deliberately channelized all her attention to the speech of the principal who was vocalising as to how to keep the college neat and clean and maintain the decorum of the institution.

~~***~~

"Hi' a sweet, tinkling voice reached Arnav's ear and recognizing the owner of it, he instantly looked up from his notebook.

This was their Physical Education period and since the teacher was absent, all the students had a made a run to the playing ground declaring the period as a free period'.

It was only Arnav who had stayed back and sitting on the last bench was involved into writing something in his notebook. Khushi knew this was the best opportunity to go and have a tete-a-tete with him, so she was here.

"Hi' came Arnav's terse reply while she recalled the fleeting glint she had noticed in his eyes which he at once masked well.

"Can I sit here?" She asked, hesitantly while he went back to writing.

"Why? Your seat is in that row" He replied, not looking at her.

"I mean just for this period. I want to talk to you" She said, forcing a sunny smile on her face which took real efforts as his petulant attitude wasn't helping.

"Sit" He said, giving her his intense glare and she could practically feel the temperature rising up.

She obeyed his voice and joined him on the bench which was meant for accommodating two students. Now they sat next to each other and he continued with his writing.

"Talk now. Or are you waiting for your Devi Maiya to light some signal for you to start?" He said, gruffly, still not looking at her.

"How do you know?" Her question came promptly. She was surprised to know that he knew about her habit of talking to her Devi Maiya.

Her question made him smirk.

"Five months are more than enough to know a person inside out" He replied, looking at her face.

"But we hardly talk" She out cried.

"How does that matters?" He replied with that smirk returning back to him and it dawned on Khushi that like her, he too had been observing her minutely.

"Whatever. I am here to discuss er something else" She told him with down casted eyes.

"Huh?"

"Why do you stare me that way?" Mustering all her inner strength and courage she delivered the question to him.

For a second, Arnav seemed perplexed and then his jaw hardened.

"What do you think? Why do I do it?" He asked his each word clear and controlled.

She hadn't expected him to counter ask her but the answer was ready in her mind and on her tongue.

"I think you love me" She blurted out and immediately regretted it. She saw his fists clenching and unclenching, his nostrils flaring and his eyes shooting anger.

"Leave" He said.

To say she wasn't scared was going to be the biggest lie of the century. She was very scared seeing the person he was turning into. It was like a completely different person was splitting out of him.

But Khushi was determined that she has to get rid of her six month long acidity. She wanted her peace of mind restored back to her. So she went on.

"No, I won't leave. Tell me that you love me. Tell me. Why do you stare me? Why do you flinch every time Shyam touches me? Why the hell you don't leave the class until I have packed my bag and left. Tell me" She kept speaking until he got up from the bench and pulled her out too.

"Stop it and leave Dammit..!" Arnav said in a raised voice, catching her by the shoulders.

"Tell me that every time you see me, you feel the same acidity. Tell me that you too can hear that Dhak-Dhak. Tell me you can feel me around yourself"

"Shut up Khushi, Shut up" Arnav said, pinning her against the wall of the class.

"I know it was you who had punched Shyam for trying to kiss me on New Year's Eve party. I know you love me. I know..." And before she could talk more, she was silenced by Arnav as he placed his lips on her, momentarily making her body go numb in shock.

But she slowly revived to senses as his lips moved softly onto hers. It was as though like with his very own lips, he was inscribing his name on her lips. As he continued brushing his lips on hers, Khushi realised that her acidity was being replaced with something even more beautiful. It was unadulterated love, passion. And as the realisation sank in, she pushed herself deeper against his body and she responded back the kiss with equal fervour. Her tongue traced the outline of his lower lip and before she can repeat it again, Arnav jerked away leaving her yearning for his warmth.

"You love me" She declared aloud, smiling at him and her gaze locked with his.

"Khushi, this is wrong" He murmured back.

"No. Loving someone is never wrong" She retorted back.

"It is. Especially when you know that you can't give that person any sort of happiness" He said, walking back to the bench and sitting on it.

"What do you mean?" She asked, her heart making different wild assumptions.

"Khushi, I have lost my parents. Seven months back, in Lucknow. I was very disturbed and unnerved. I stopped eating, talking and walking, as I result my health declined. I have diabetes as well. That accelerated the deterioration. Di, my uncle, everyone was really broken with my condition. So, my doctor suggested me a change of place. That is why I am here in Delhi, with my Naani. But after the end of this term, I'll be going back to Lucknow. I have my Di there, my ancestral house, my uncle. And I don't think I'd be staying even there. I'll have to head for my higher studies, to some foreign place. I'll be leaving you. We can't be together" He said in tormented voice which made Khushi place her hand on his shoulder.

"If you knew this, why did you fall in love with me?" She asked in pure innocence and Arnav laughed a hollow laugh.

"Khushi, I never wanted to. The first time I saw you, it was like a light ray had entered within my soul which evaded out all the darkness from within. I couldn't stop falling for you. But I certainly stop myself from letting you know this, thinking that the term will pass on and once I leave, I'll be a forgotten lore for you"

"But you never thought I'd come up to you and force you to talk about it. Did you?" She asked, with a brightening smile.

"No, I didn't. I thought you were more like a shy and crazy girl" He replied, returning a smile.

"So you see, we can't take this any further. I don't want to leave you with pain filled memories once I go"

"Arnav, there just one thing I want you to know, what lies behind us, and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us. We can't spoil your present just because we are uncertain of our future. You know what I mean, right?" She asked, her eyes brimming with hopes.

For Arnav, he meditated on her words, closing his eyes he recalled the moment which he had shared with her, two minutes back. This was indeed one of the best moments of his life. A moment devoid of anxiety, insecurities and pain. The moment was bliss, he was in bliss. And Khushi had brought it to him.

As he spent a few more minutes pondering on her words, he realised she was right.

There was no use of spoiling something this beautiful. Why should he contain his feelings and suffer and make her suffer along with?

This was a moment to live, to enjoy, and to relish.

And as he decided it, all the clouds of his painful past passed away, giving way to a new sun, which was shining down at him.

He should clearly see himself basking in that new warmth with Khushi standing beside him.

Picture perfect.

With that, he got back to his feet and swept Khushi off the ground, taking her in his arms, whispered in ears,

"I do feel the acidity Khushi. I too can hear my heart's Dhak-Dhak. Every single time you're around me, I can hear a faint music in the air. I can hear the Rabba Ve' tunes. And you know why? Because I love you dammit..! I love you so much. And I am willing to give this thing a chance. A chance to myself, ourselves. And you know why?" He asked with his voice choking with the feelings of unadulterated love.

"No" She shook her head in denial, tears of pure joy welling up in her eyes.

"Because what lies behind us, and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us. We have got to relish this wonderful feeling which is budding within us. We have to let it bloom. And I promise you, this would bloom into a flower of love, a love that this world has never seen. An Arnav-Khushi saga" He finished, looking in the eyes of his beloved. But the look was short-lived as Khushi tore away her gaze and found his lips, with hers; sealing the deal.

As the kiss deepened and passion arose, the 'Rabba Ve' was all they could hear.

"Kyun nasha hai itna, tere ishq mein, Rabba Ve, Rabba ve" ❤️
