I hope this gif evanesces your gloominess as we all are sad with the current hate track.

Episode-190

The ambiance is felicitous with mirth and frolic. Nk is talking about Payal and Akash's Suhaag raat. All gets a bit embarrassed at his bold remark. But Anjali wants to play some games with them. They all are gathered for the game. Payal won the untying knots game, what proved that she will solve Akash's problem forever. Amma is worried for Khushi and Anjali is worried for Arnav as he is still not there. Anjali tries his phone, but can't reach him. Shyam also looks disgruntled. I think he guessed something, after all Arnav came to know about his truth.

As the family is in tizzy for them, Arnav and Khushi arrive there. Holding Khushi's hand, Arnav is dragging her inside. Anjali gets flummoxed to see them. She utters "chotey" in bewilderment.

First NK and then the rest of the family look at them in perplexity. They all become stagnant in stupefaction to see Arnav and Khushi standing there, holding hands, wearing jaimala. Bua first breaks the silence and asks them,

What is all this? What kind of joke it is?

Maami also thinks is it a joke or what? Amma asks Khushi what's the matter, what is all this. Nani wants answer from Arnav. Mama asks him, why he is not answering nani's question. Nani, mami all demands for his answer. Why he is silent?

Arnav looks at Shyam loathsomely and says in deep husky voice that he got married. Anjali can't believe, how can he got married furtively; without letting them know. She wants to know why. But Arnav and Khushi are standing there in impediment, can't answer the volley of questions of their family. Khushi recollects the moment how they got married.

First Arnav vehemently hauled her to the pool side. She asked him with abhorrence, why he brought her there. Arnav asks her tersely,

How much do you love your sister? You can do anything for her. right?

He looked at her with ambiguity. Khushi answered yes.

So today, you have to do something for your sister.

Khushi asked him incredulously,

What?

He proposed her sternly to marry him.

Khushi was dumbfounded, what he was asking her to do.

You have to marry me, for six months. Otherwise I won't let Akash marry Payal.

Marriage! For six months! What nonsense you are talking

Not really believing her ears, she turned back in a perfunctory manner. She was about to leave, when Arnav held her hand and pulled her towards him. He grabbed her hand from behind and made her body plastered to him. His eyes were flagrant with rage. Khushi was aghast; she was fidgeting in his strong grip, tried to extricate herself. Arnav said disdainfully.

I'm not talking nonsense.

How can you say that...

Yes or no...he asked her with greeted teeth.

Khushi remained silent.

I'm asking you for the last time, yes or no?

Pearl like tear drops are glistening on her rosy cheek. She extricated herself from his grip in a jerk.

No, never, what do you think of marital relationship? How can you even tell this to me, Arnavji? And I thought you.

Arnav didn't let her complete, instead he told her to think again.

Khushi wanted to refute, but he grabbed her hand again and showed her Payal and Akash, who were waiting for him in the mandap. Akash was saying Payal that he can't complete the wedding without Arnav. Arnav told Khushi that Akash will not marry until he reaches there.

Khushi comes back from the FB. Anjali is so upset on Arnav, he just told that he got married and that's it. Bua is getting frantic; she asks Garima what her daughter has done. Garima yelps at Khushi, is it true? When khushi says yes, she gives her a slap, what makes her fall on Arnav. Arnav holds her right then and looks at amma with darting eyes. So Mr. Raizada has still feelings for the traitor girl! It sure reprimands that his love is still there for her and he will uphold her respect as well. Khushi looks up. Nani again charges Arnav why he suddenly did it? At nani's query, Arnav and Khushi both look at each other intently. Khushi doesn't know the answer and Arnav is not ready to answer anybody. Bua tells Khushi to look at her, she barges at her, why she took such step? Arnav embroils at bua's query. Cause not Khushi, but he only knows the reason. Payal is crying. Poor girl, her special day has ruined because of them. Bua is coercing Khushi to tell the reason. But she is taciturn, only copious tears are flowing from her eyes. She goes back to FB again.

Khushi's credence had shattered. she couldn't understand Arnav's obnoxious behavior

Why are you testing me Arnavji? You can't do this to me. my sister's wedding.

Arnav snatched her words and said peremptorily,

.I can do it and I'll do it, if you don't marry me. And I'll not let the marriage happen between Akash and your sister. You know I can do it. Akash never defies me.

No you can't do this... she retorted him with teary eyes.

Yes I can do it. You know it Khushi Kumari Gupta.

He walked towards her prowlingly and she stepped back involuntarily. He resumed,

Mami doesn't like this alliance. It will not take her a moment to break this relationship. And she will get the reason through me.

Khushi was repugnant, she fell in a nonplus situation, what to do. Arnav's eyes crinkled in contemplation. He told her again in menacing tone,

You will accept my condition. You will marry me today, for six months. You know I can stop this marriage any time. Now your sister's life is depending on you.

I can't do it...khushi denied tersely..

Okay, if this is your final decision, then get ready to wipe your sister's tears.

He turned around to go. Khushi remembered the break up of Payal's first marriage. She also heard that the pandit was telling everybody to hurry up as the auspicious time was getting over. Khushi couldn't see her sister's alliance to be broken for one more time. She called Arnav to stop. Arnav came towards her at her call. With her eyes filled with hurt and humiliation, she seemed perilously close to tears and told him in broken voice

.I'm ready, I will marry you. Plz just don't break my sister's marriage. Whatever you will say, I'll do.

. She couldn't control her tears any more. she started to cry covering her face with her hands. Her rendition to Arnav was inevitable, as she loves her sister immensely. Payal's happiness bridled her to refuse Arnav. and Arnav also knew how to tether her.

The FB ends and Khushi comes back to the present. Her hazel eyes are bewildered at the unfairness of her destiny. Both of them look at each other intently, but there is only contempt and resentment in Arnav's eyes.

episode 185

for me this episode has a perfect pearl in it. that moment when i realised, i was looking at a fabulous actor, not just a terrifically attractive man who swept me away with his every word, move, smile, cocked eyebrow. no, this here was an actor. of the kind people talk about for decades afterwards. in him the potential to be greater than perhaps any actor i'd ever seen. so completely he became his character. eliminating all distance, and so powerful his sensing of his character.

can't agree more.

somewhere here was the point when it hit me.

he has reached the terrace door. he pauses, thinks, smiles and turns toward the door. what a moment, he is all set to tell the girl he gives a faraq for... why it makes a difference.

one swift move and the door is open and he stands there, half smile on his face, so eager and confident of his next move. he has seen her going toward the terrace... she is here just here, he's come for her. what a moment in the life of the fractured and broken asr... a boy who was robbed of his trust, his faith, his everything on another night of a wedding.
great observation. Didn't think like that.

but tonight he will claim his life, his heartbeat, back from that calamity, with a beautiful thing called faraq.

he'd been delayed on his way to her, his sister needed to have her wound bandaged. ironic isn't it, the woman whose words had triggered had made him decide he had to tell khushi about this feeling right now, because of her he is held back, and will witness something that wouldn't have transpired if he'd made it to the terrace on time.

but finally he does look the way he'd seen her go and say, "aaj main khushi ko batakar rahoonga... mujhe kyun faraq padta hai..."

today i will definitely tell her, why it makes a difference to me. goosebumps. the voice dips at mujhe kyun... and becomes completely a thought within.

and he is on his way, his sister looks at him: something in his way, his walk says this is no ordinary job he goes to do... she'd told him jao kaam khatam karke ao... go finish your work. he is so ready to do that.
Did Anjali guess something? She already knew that Arnav was interested on Khushi. She was a clever woman. I wonder why she became a moron judging her husband!

then a crash echoes.

gust of wind lifts its head... how cruel that sound tonight, it used to tell him she's here nearby... and look what it shows him now.

he's confused, what's that? then shock begins to seep in along with a knock out confusion... what is he seeing?

crash of thunder...

slowly the eyes register the emotion rising in him... he is seeing this he can't believe... the moments which will be etched in his mind, indelible. "chhap gaya hai dimag mein, mit nahin sakta."
too painful memories are embedded in heart like this, doesn't efface so easily.

music reflects the inferno beginning within...

he stands speechless watching this unbearable picture...

what a sight to behold. khushi clasped in shyam's arms.

what did he see there i wonder... his father betraying his mother... di's happiness ending... his love plastered against another man's body...

did he for an instant feel the way his mother might have felt? did he empathise completely in that instant? did he think of ending it all?

somewhere he began to die... you could see it in his eyes. the man who flew to rage at the slightest, spoke not a word, he just stood there dumbfounded, emotions entering and killing him bit by bit.

there have been many debates about the irrational behaviour of his, why didn't he ask her, etc. isn't that the normal thing to do? but was there anthing normal in that moment? especially for one who had stayed in his shell, his fort faraq nahin padta for years and was about to make his first tentaive move to come out. that too because of what happened to di and what di said... oh how delicate his state of mind. how extra rational his feelings... the always rational asr had never felt this before.
i also thought, why didn't he. i can understand that he just became stupefied at that moment. But as he asked shyam later and impended him, same way why he didn't asked Khushi or even threatened her to leave shyam. Later when Shyam's secret revealed to the family, he confessed to his nani that he made a mistake by trusting shyam. He should trust khushi. But he never wanted to know why she did such heinous thing until Khushi's suicide attempt.

and in that very moment, of course, life had to strike.

"hum sirf aapko chahte hain, khushi ji, hum rani sahiba ko apni patni nahin mantey..." shyam's declaration rend the night. i only want you, khushi ji, i don't consider rani sahiba to be my wife...

zoom to the man at the terrace door, where she'd stood one day and seen the truth of shyam, he sees what seems to be true and yet is anything but that. in it the seeds of a lie that will snuff all truth out. almost.

the structure of this episode was almost musical... pathos and tragedy at its core...

a sound effect... an inflection point, a note that hits his mind and heart.

he's shocked further, his eyes show that... calibrated... layer by layer horror approaches.

another gust of wind blows through the barren night...
beautiful interpretation.

his eyes move a bit as though he is trying to piece this thing together.

"aur nahi iss shadi ka humare liye koi matlab hai... humara yakeen kijiye, khushi ji, hum sirf aap se pyaar karte hain aur bhaut sara pyaar kart ehain..." shyam is unstoppable, this marriage has no meaning for me, believe me, khushi ji, i only love you and love you so much..

imagine, he had to hear that.
no, I couldn't imagine Indi, I thought to strangle cvs to hurt both Arnav and Khushi.

it rips through him... a beautiful visual device shows his state...
crack of thunder, world crashing around him.

another note that finds its mark.

drums. and why do they remind me of that gunshot?

it is a nightmare unfolding, a new nightmare. this time it happens right before his eyes and within earshot. he knows every detail of it... who will die this time?

she pushes him away... he waits... maybe hoping to hear something that will feel ok, make his world stop rocking.

"koi matlab nahin hai..." doesn't mean a thing, she seethes.

"kuchh bhi nahin, khushi ji... sachi," nothing, khsuhi ji, shyam avers, really.

the most damning words leave khushi's mouth now...

"agar aap ke liye yeh rishta koi maine nahin rakhta to aap yeh shadi tod kun nahin dete... chor dijiye anjali ji ko..."

if this marriage means nothing to you, then why don't you break thsi marriage... levae anjali ji!!

and perhaps that's when he finally dies.

this is the girl who means all to him...

at last the thunder and drums stop and emotions flow. he shatters. and shatters some more... on a turn...

as his face told a thousand stories of disillusionment, of killing hurt, i realised i was not just looking at a gorgeous sexy man... i was looking, as i said when i started, at an actor.

i sat up on my bed, the words thespian went through my head... his was a rendition of the classic greats... a simple turn and all the feelings in the face, in the stance of the body... as it's been ever since he's known he must tell her... faraq kyun padta hai.

and his sister did tell him... no matter what don't let her go. so how could he?

a wonderful episode constructed with great care. so many layers. apart from that magnificent terrace sequence, where a nightmare returned, the episode had a dream in it, a confession, and some beautiful bondning and dialogues.

the intercutting used between asr on the one hand taking a decision and walking with a happy purposeful air and shyam shocking khushi on the terrace and then inundating her with crazy talk of love, was thrilling.

let's talk of anjali and asr. a brother and a sister connect, sister says key things about loving and losing people.

"di, aap kabhi mujhe maa ke tarah..." di, don't leave me like maa... asr's fear lives close by within. the very thought of di in an accident had him highlu agitated, when he saw her alive but hurt, that old fear of losing people came charging...

i am here with you i will never leave you... i am here, i promise never... promised his di.

he hugged her tight again.

anjali let the words come from her heart: when the car was going off, i thought i might never see my chhote... sabse badkar humare khud ke zindai se badkar hamare liye tum ho. you mean more to me than everyone else, even more than my life.

"chhotey, yaad hai uss din hum tumhe kya kah rahe the... ki kal ka ki bharosa nahin hai... kal kissi ne nahin dekha... aur kal hi kya... aaj ke baare mein bhi kissiko kuchh nahin pata... iss liyejab, kabhi dil mein kuchh aaye na... jaise aaye... waise bole dena chahie...
varna shayad... har pal poori tarah se jeena chahiye, chhotey, kyunki pata nahin chalta kaunsa pal akhri ho...

aur hum jinse sabse zyada pyaar karte hain.. jo hamare sabse kareeb hita hai usse kabhi jaane nahin dena chahiye... kissi bhi haalat mein... aur kabhi koi baat bahut bewakoofi wali bhi lagey toh bhi sir... sirf apni dil ki sunni chahiye."

chhotey, remember what i told you the other day... that who can depend on tomorrow. who has seen tomorrow. and why tomorrow, who knows even about today...

oh that last line so prophetic.

and so she'd told him, whatever comes to your mind you should say, the moment it comes, say, who knows what might happen... and when the last moment might come...

and those that are close to our heart, we must never let them go, no matter what. even if something feels foolish, we must only listen to our hearts.

i did feel the dialogues got a bit heavy and daljeet struggled with the words, but while they were meant to augment plot, there's important meaning in them that i rather enjoyed the thoughts.

as he left his sister's room and she made her way to the terrace, they did one and the same thing. they dreamed of each other. remembering tender moments. when they'd yearned, and felt, and wanted each other... what if i lost you, wrap me in fairy lights, oh i want you to kiss me, i want to kiss you, come hold my hand, and let me undo your hair... a swirl of memories where two young lovers smiled and waited with bated breath for that special moment when it would all come together. she thought he'd called her to the terrace. he'd seen her headed there and was ready to follow her.
loved your depiction of their thoughts.

lost in her world of dreams, she waits for him... he walks to her... and a hand approaches her shoulder.

alas the trap had been laid by a knave. who was determined not to let her go without telling her today. irony again... shyam too was waiting to confess his love. and he too was going to do it today itself... just like asr. and he will say things that really asr must have meant to... from the day i saw you in licknow i fell for you... day and night i think of you. i love you and i love you lots. shyam said that to her? poor girl... it was an evening that was fair to no one. not asr, not khushi, not anjali.
And all happened because of one evil person named Shyam!😡

when she feels the hand, her eyes widen... she turns slowly with lowered gaze all ready for her lover, she lifts her eyes and freezes in shock. it is shyam.

asr climbs a flight of steps...

and he sees his di coming down... he decides to fix her bandage.

on the terrace, the horror story has started to unfold. shyam is adamant that he loves khushi. she is shocked, repulsed, affronted.

"khushi ji, hum jaantey the aap humse milne zaroor ayengi," khushi ji, i knew you'd certainly come to meet me.

"aapne woh likha tha?" you wrote that?

"toh aap ko kya laga?" so what did you think. a play in shyam's voice. his cunning, knowing side on display at telling points. a psycho dimension is being accentuated in his character. he knew khsuhi would think that note on the mirror was from asr.

this device of a cold voice alternating with holier than thou sounding "good" shyam voice and lover like "desperate" shyam voice is used often in this sequence, and abhas has worked hard to create a more complete picture of thsi character, give it a believably lunatic and scary rim, but somehow, it never did get me somehow. the acting lacked something. consistently. only in the very beginning did i really find shyam interestingly portrayed.
I also didn't like Abhash's acting, most of the time he over acted. But he looked scary for sure.

as she goes to leave... he yanks her back... "nahin"... he insists she listen. in his tirade a warning, don't make me hur you again. so there was a reference ti babu ji... possibly to be picked up later, but it was finally lost.

the saddest thing is that while khushi is horrified at the sickening claims of shyam, angry and disgusted, she completely misses seeing who comes to the doorway.

she is so concentrated on shyam, she has no idea what's happened just to one side of her.

the man whose confession she waited for, came, saw, and was devastated.

with that her dreams and his dreams crashed and turned into a living nightmare.

"chhoriye hume," khushi.

"nahin chhorenge, hum aap se bahut pyaar karte hain..." shyam.

"humne kaha chhoriye hume!" khsuhi.

if only asr had walked in at this point. but he didn't.
Sigh, I wish if he would come a little earlier.😔

Wonderful!
very intense, emotional and heart wrenching episode. your fabulous take made it even more magnificent.
One of the toughest episode of IPK and you are right, barun was beyond excellence in this episode.
All the bold lines are my favorite and my comments are in orange.
The edits are awesome and this just killed me.

Caught me off guard too cos i'm by and large laid back. But before i knew it, i was walking along the coast looking for help...amidst screams and warnings that the wave will return. Morning of the 26th this was, after christmas dinner the previous night at the most enchanting place i've ever been to...followed by a beach shack party where my friend danced like a maniac while i sat out by the waters...she kept coming for me cos we're both dance crazies...but i just didn't feel like it. I was staring right at the waves in the dark...quiet, coming and going in hushes and whispers. No clue as to what was going to shake the living daylights of that entire landscape in just a few hours. Now here i was, just walking. For hours. The huts, the shacks, all gone. I spotted a jeep along the coast, the driver looking around purposefully, and i went up...and this is me, the girl who never ever goes up to anyone for any help. He was a cop and he had come looking for someone. Drive back to town, which is normally 20 minutes, would take half a day at least he said, plus he wanted to stop on the way and help those who needed it. Could we come along, i asked. He looked unsure but agreed. I drove back to the hotel with him, picked up my passport and camera from the room - though i needn't have bothered cos they were both destroyed - found my friend who was helping an older german couple in the next room...their bodies bleeding profuse. We were in sea facing rooms on the ground floor right near the water and the rooms had large french windows, apna ASR type. A massive wall of water had hit that morning shattering the glass...the couple had shards of glass piercing their bodies all over. The hotel, it's gate and boundary wall, had gone, and the rooms were crumbling. The four of us seemed to be the sole survivors. Us scratch free miraculously, and them bleeding badly. We got on the jeep and drove through rows of bodies lined up all along the coast, in the lanes, on the streets, picking up survivors. We made it to town early next morning having driven nearly 15 hrs...the two of us were put up at this amazing heritage property for the next 3 days, gratis...no food, barely any water, no electricity, and no fresh clothes, of course...cramped with numerous other foreign survivors from all over... ironically, the same property we'd loved the most while looking up places to stay, but had to pass because it was so frightfully expensive. What a practical bloody joke this is, we thought, to be in that very place...and for all the luxury in the world, all i needed was a bath...even though my senses, they were swamped with water. Anyway here i was, on a massive planter chair, staring at large ancient beauteous trees, reflecting. And that's when i felt all the things you've highlighted in pink above.

Durga, Indus, Wiwy...yes it was traumatic...but life and joy they have a way of seeping into the most dreadful of times. My friend and i, we had each other...and we met so many other survivors, shared stories of the previous day. Someone...an english woman... had so many tea bags on her it was unbelievable. That became the in-house thrill for all and we kept pulling her leg about it. One person would go out every few hours looking for water and all we had was earl grey tea, and some cookies and fruit, for the next three days. We sang, we listened to the radio, we played cricket and watched others play croquet. And my friend and i, we'd be in bed at night, talking and laughing hysterically at something or the other from earlier in the day...the mind had shut down to everything and we were only in the moment.

Ok i've gone on too long so i should stop now.

I come here after a couple of days, and read this that gives me goosebumps. How we take things for granted and how all can change in matter of min. That is one real life story you share disk... All I want to do is to give you a big hug!!!

Indi, yes I heard from one of my closest friends how beautiful yet Beastly life can in Assam. Sorry to hear about your loss!
