Beautiful take on this complex epi. Love your bittersweet theory as its synonymous with IPK a story of painful love. The hate part of IPK only being a secondary interpretation. So agree with you, the TLC deprived man is so incapable of constructive communication. Uses anger to express love and gets trapped in a whirlpool of mistakes. Indeed makers were very creative in conveying the conflicting emotions and complexity of human nature.

K sure agreed to engagement due to family reasons, but the reason for the haste was her heartbreak. Her aapko kya phark padta hai expresses her innermost pain as well as her independence. This instantly out of no where turns the man's tall tower of ego into mere rubbles. When he accidentally hurts himself, K feels the magnitude of impact of her words. I see deep regret in her eyes. She feels the immense love this eccentric cynical man conveys through harsh words and treatment. in her innermost thoughts probably her engagement was a mistake. Her heart sings for him. A brief intimate calm moment with their hands in tender touch before the storm the next moment.

^^ Ina, thanks for that post, all i can say is "what the!"... You're right about this bubble...but looking at how much impact IPK has on not only audience in India but all over the world...I mean not just Indians...pple who don't know the language...how are these big Bollywood ppl oblivious to all of this...the fact is they may not be looking for talent form TV industry as there is always someone's son or daughter that needs launching. I highly doubt that Kjo has watched any tv except for may the reality show he judges...it is f rustrating that such talents like Barun and Sanaya go unnoticed. Regardless, I think its a very rude statement to make about tv stars in general...he must not have watched Kai po Che.

Ugh! so 😡 read and commented on ur 126 and when i went to post, i got this blocked message at work. Sorry i'm just going top of my head. As always i though you did a great job describing the scenes esp the garden one. your question about why Anjali didn't notice Aranv was talking about Khushi b/c he has feelings is valid, all i can think of (other than just to move the story along) she may have thought that he was thinking about his own engagement. She asked him before why he seemed upset even though getting engaged was his call. thanks again for the read, sorry i just don't have time go through it again. I'll come back when i'm less angry at IF.

the fantastic hindi film industry which thrived on openness, inclusinn, talent, hunger for talent and a wee bit of flicking from the western movies, is now just a launching pad for established industry people's chlidren and bed mates... that openness which would let a rajesh khanna, a dharmendra, an ashok kumar, a lata mangeshkar, a whoever come in, that culture of thriving on diversity, of wildness, lots of naughtiness but a firm and unwavering devotion to talent and saleability (both, as commercial success was sacrosanct), that culture is no more. i have pretty much stopped watching hindi films, not a single current actor has the charisma, the pull, the talent of those gone by. can never explain to anyone why yaadon ki barat, silly, song filled, very hindi phillum can be watched by me again and again and appreciated by my 12 year old or haathi mere saathi, or hare rama, or just too many of them.

there are some nice movies these days, some very smart ones, but i wonder how many i will watch many times over. that reach, heart, capture of the hindi movie... i don't feel any more.

kjo is pretty much a creator of this new way of not encouraging rank outsiders, unless they accept certain things... talent however is not what they look for. that's pretty clear.

barun has in him an actor and a star, that deadly combo. i have not a single doubt about it. but he doesn't possibly play ball. i bet a yash chopra, or bimal roy, or hrishikesh m, or manmohan desai, or many others would have spotted it, smelled profit, and given him one chance at least.

if anyone is in a bubble, it's the hindi film biggies. may it protect them from all talent everywhere.

There has been something which I wanted to share with you all, but was not able to. Finally, I can now. As you all know, there have been various contests on the occasion of the 2nd Anniversary. The results are finally out. I am now allowed to reveal that I had sent in two entries to the OS contest. Yes that's right, and these were my very first stories that I had ever written. 😳

I am happy to tell you that my first story garnered 16 votes and was about 4 votes behind the 2nd runner-up. That's right, out of 13 entries I managed to get the 4th position. 😃 This was Entry #1 titled 'Memories'. Thank you Kate for voting for me and you did that on my birthday, so it was a lovely birthday gift. 😳

The second one, 'Entry No. 10' titled 'Once More' was written at the last minute and sent as I was allowed to send totally 2 entries for the contest. I am happy that it did manage to get 2 votes. 😊

Only three blasters, i.e. myself, Supriya and Katelyn had voted for the contest, so I am not sure how many have read the stories. I will post the stories later and send the link. Thank you all for encouraging my writings constantly, which gave me the confidence to write something and send to the contest. 🤗
