Dear Sirs and/or Madams;;
I am writing to you on behalf of my friends and I, a group altogether of twenty-three of us, who are very disappointed at the way the issue of IPKKND and Barun Sobti have been handled.
It is by no means rocket science to realize that Barun Sobti and Sanaya Irani have made IPKKND what it is today. In spite of shoddy scripts, drab wardrobes, and editing bloopers, where the lead pair of Arnav and Kushi are concerned, the show has survived.
I can say with great certainty, that my friends and I watch this show, based solely on the pairing of the leads Sanaya and Barun.
The events that have transpired over the past week, have, to say the least, not only made us aware of the politics at play in Indian Media and particularly the TV entertainment bizz, but also the blatant disregard to and of the viewers who have made the show what it is today.
I do not purport to understand or know the reasons for the exit of Mr. Sobti, except of what he has said. However, as a viewer of IPKKND, I can say with certainty, that Sobti's Arnav and Sanaya's Kushi can and should never be replaced. It bodes on the bizarre to have painstakingly built up characters for fifteen months and then with complete disregard, compromise those very characters, for whatever reasons. There can never be any survival for Kushi without the Arnav, or Arnav without Kushi.
I do not know what has been planned for this show, but please accept this humble request from a group of non-Indian ardent viewers to not debase a wonderful Indian fairy tale of a love story. It has been said that Mr. Sobti is "taking a break." If indeed, this is a leave of absence, then I would urge you to look into the matter of preserving this love story and the purity of the love shared between Arnav and Kushi. If it is a clean break, I would urge you to use your sense of better judgement and leave the love intact. All fairy tales deserve a happy ending.
Mr Uday et al, please do not treat this matter lightly. It has touched the hearts of viewers world wide. Viewers feel strongly about Sobti and Irani, about Arnav and Kushi. Nobody can match their on-screen persona and nobody can replace them.
Having said that, I have, however, the utmost confidence in you and your team to do the needful and retain Mr.Sobti as your employee. I'm sure I do not have to explain to you what a world wide phenomenon this on-screen pair of Mr. Sobti and Ms. Irani have become. How many of your shows, or any Indian shows, can claim to have a world wide viewer-ship, and that too, which consists of viewers from Non-Indian origins?
I thank-you in advance for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Vittoria Giardano.
