What I LOVED: 2nd November 2012
OHMIGOSH! When Aarav cried, I really wanted to grab the kiddo in my arms.
Nice episode.
Favorite Scene
Arnav telling off Sheetal about lying to Aarav
Arnav & Khushi
Arnav & Khushi have somehow managed to be at totally opposite ends once again.
Arnav is 100% confident that Aarav is not his son.
Khushi is 100% doubtful.
Arnav
LOVE the confidence of this man in himself!
Whatever be the reason, Arnav is finding himself getting rather attached to Aarav. From the very beginning, Arnav didn't give Aarav the treatment that he was once famous for. He is handling Aarav the way he handled kids if left to himself. What's more, because he seems to connect with Aarav, he seems to even understand Aarav and his thought process.
Arnav himself finds Aarav a lot like himself, even though he's never stated so.
In today's episode, Arnav reacted just as worried as the rest of the family. Pretty normal if you find one of the kids in your house is missing.
While they all did the most natural and sensible thing and looked around, and NK informed the police - Arnav alone seemed to understand Aarav's thought process. He went straight for the cafe. On not finding Aarav there, it seemed he depended on his instincts. He said that he knew Aarav was there.
It seems the way Arnav was worried over Aarav, and then showed an understanding of him - has worried his wife even more if possible. I'm not sure if Arnav is seeing this as of now, though even if he is, his concern for Aarav was at that moment most important. Even Khushi understands and agrees with this.
Twice, Arnav has told Sheetal to tell Aarav of the father's name: once with his wife, and second with his whole family. The man is confident that whatever the name is, it is not Arnav Singh Raizada. Finally, he's even told Sheetal off for lying to Aarav telling the mom of the kid that her kid is too sensitive.
It looks suspicious that Arnav would understand this about Aarav - but it really isn't.
'I said what I felt. I don't lie.' - This was one of the first things that Aarav said to Arnav, and over the past few days, Arnav has found this to be true of Aarav. The kid doesn't even mince his words when talking to ASR about his beloved wife. Arnav himself is sensitive to be lied to or being called a liar. He gets this trait rather well.
Arnav has seen how desperate Aarav was to meet his Dad. In fact, Arnav looked indignant on Aarav's behalf. It seemed as though someone had promised him something and didn't keep it.
LOVED how he cradled the kiddo in his arms and got him home from the 'cold'.
Khushi
One usually does not call a one-off incident as a problem. It is multiple instances and repeated events, which seem co-incidental, that cause havoc in the mind that something is not sitting right - even if one does not know what.
Khushi is being made to witness a lot of instances of repeated co-incidences that now she can no longer argue that it is a co-incident at all.
>> She's been made a first witness to Aarav's similarity to Arnav, and also the one seeing it most often
>> She's the only person to know the connection between Arnav and Sheetal
>> She's the first person to know that Sheetal is a single mother
>> She's been made to hear that a lot of related and unrelated people feel the similarity between Aarav and Arnav, and even commenting or asking if the kid was his son
>> She's been made to see Sheetal's discomfort when Aarav's similarity to Arnav is discussed
>> She's heard from Aarav that his Mum told him he's like his Dad
>> She's read of a chap whom Sheetal loved in college and seen Sheetal seeing photos of Arnav and herself from college days
>> She's heard that if Sheetal tells the father's name, it may ruin a lot of lives
>> She is witnessing Arnav's care, attention, understanding, and worry for Aarav
V/s
Khushi has one statement from Arnav that says - Aarav is not my son.
Khushi seems to be getting pulled in several directions.
>> Arnav, the love of her life, seems to be the love of someone else's life too. What's more, if he is Aarav's father, then the father and son deserve each other.
>> Sheetal, a single mom, has a son whom she has been raising alone. She doesn't have a choice; she cannot tell the name of the father to her son because many lives would suffer. As per Khushi, Sheetal would deserve a family, a home, a husband and a father for her child
>> Aarav - her heart goes out to the child. She feels the aching need of this kid to have a father in his life. As per Khushi, Aarav deserves to know who his father is and for that she is willing even if 'whoever the father may be'.
>> Khushi seems to feel - increasingly - that she is in the way of Aarav getting his Dad.
Khushi doesn't deny that Arnav is telling the truth. Besides, Arnav's himself telling Sheetal - twice now - to tell Aarav of his father's name. Khushi is probably rather confused now.
Khushi is seeing in this situation either what she wants to see or what she is being made to see - because she certainly not seeing what actually is.
The Basket Ball Match
I s'pose one of the best things about the basketball match was that it finally brought Arnav and Sheetal to play against each other. Let's see how!
>> After Khushi got the ball, what she chose to do with it disqualified her from her game. Khushi thinks she knows what she is doing. As far as she is concerned the ball needs to go into the basket because that's what is supposed to be done. However, there are certain rules to go by, which she's either forgotten or been careless about.
Every relationship is about trust and relying on each other. This is a process and it needs one to communicate. Khushi has ignored some rules: not interfering in other people's matters, talking to Arnav openly, giving value to his statement, trusting his memory (that was a wow inference from Khushi that Arnav may have forgotten it), and of course, considering the implications.
>> She may get the ball in the basket, but what she isn't seeing is that it wasn't the correct move, and that putting the ball in the basket in that manner isn't valid. Not only was it against the rules, Khushi was oblivious to the fact that it was so. She actually blamed NK for not explaining the rules well. What she didn't consider that not listening to and following rules can send her off the court.
Khushi isn't considering that if she proves that Aarav is Arnav's son - quite against the statement from Arnav that Arnav is not his son - she is forgetting and breaking the rule of trust. She may get Aarav to Arnav but what she isn't seeing probably is that the Mom, Sheetal, comes muft, muft, muft! In Mami Jaan's vocab - this is a buy one, get one free offer. This may translate to Khushi off the court!
>> Khushi actually celebrates that she scored the basket. Silly girl! It takes her a while to perceive that no one else agrees with her - including her team captain, the person who passed the ball to her in the first place.
Khushi has this capability. Nuff said!
>> Only after she realizes that she is out - does Khushi seem to wake up to the situation more completely. She pretends to be happy. However, she is in a much deeper pain than she can bear. In fact, she needs to walk off the field because she can't bear it no more.
Khushi really isn't seeing that she is digging herself into a ditch and this would hurt her more than she can understand. The implication of the basket she's trying to score could be a very painful separation from Arnav. The last time I remember seeing Khushi in such pain was when: 1. Arnav blasted her off after the Diwali kiss attempt; 2. Arnav was kidnapped and she suffered without him.
However, this time there is more. There is another woman with whom Arnav seems very friendly and shares good rapport. There is a kid who seems to be Arnav's son more each passing day.
>> Arnav's reaction to Khushi's foul is understanding and love - even though to begin with he was shocked too. He knows exactly what she is thinking. He knows she thought she was doing it right by taking the ball to the basket. He knows that she thinks the basket she scored is valid. He knows she thinks she's gonna be happy for scoring the basket. He knows she is embarrassed when she's told that she is wrong, and so is blaming NK. He knows that she needs a word of advice - but given with love. Arnav laughs, smiles and accepts his pagal wife's silly move. He walks to her, flicks her nose (that he usually does when he teases her lovingly) and tells her to learn the game and then play.
Arnav knows Khushi through and through it seems. He knows what she is thinking and feeling even though she is not sharing anything with him. He tries to talk to her, but she cuts him off either directly or by giving excuses. Arnav has already told her what he had to and there is nothing more he can say on the matter. It is now upto Khushi to remember and follow his rules.
Khushi's invalid ball in the basket - whenever it comes - may be shocking for him. However, he knows that she means well and is someone who'd give up their happiness for someone else in need. He knows she ought to have followed his rules, but she hasn't and as always has done what she thinks is right.
He knows though her manner was all wrong, what she attempted was not - even if invalid.
However, Arnav wasn't able to stop Khushi from getting disqualified and off the court; although his send off was with love.
>> After Khushi was out, the game was majorly between Arnav and Sheetal (which it was even before Khushi was out), while Aarav was simply running around.
This was fun. Arnav v/s Sheetal.
Going by the game, this was Arnav against Sheetal. However, the vibes Khushi got were as though they were playing with each other, not against.
Finally, Sheetal leveled the score.
The final victory came about when both were focused on Aarav instead of the game.
>> There is a nice bit during the game - Arnav tells Sheetal to give up because he is winning. Sheetal refuses to give up and actually scores as much as Arnav.
I wonder if there is a time when Arnav tells Sheetal to stop playing games. He did it once tonight when he told her to not lie anymore to Aarav if she didn't intend to let him meet his father. He told her to stop playing games with Aarav.
>> Aarav was carrying the ball and Mami Jaan was after him for the ball. However, she got distracted because she found him cute.
Is Aarav a distraction for RM-ians from the real issue?
Sheetal
Yet again Sheetal is a dicey thing.
While her concern for Aarav looks very real, there are some things that put this particular understanding off on the back burner, and make one want to relook and reassess and rethink.
I can't help but feel that some of the ways she is coming across reminds me to much of Shyam. (Either that --- or I miss the snake crawling around RM!!) Snake is an interesting term though, coz there were at least a few different places (in this past week) where her gaze came across as somewhat cold:
>> When she pulls herself away after hearing Arnav and Khushi talk of DNA report - after Arnav leaves
>> When Mami Jaan walks off the basketball court because she was distracted by Aarav and got disqualified, Sheetal had a small personal moment there - would love to know what was going on in her mind then
>> When she sees Khushi in the kitchen tonight
Today's episode leave serious doubts in one's mind about the naturalness of the events - and yet the shadow of something very different being covered by normal everyday events. (Shyam used to hide behind the obvious.)
Some pieces are definitely not fitting into the puzzle:
1. Aarav and Khushi's many chance meetings
2. Aarav's likeness with ASR
3. Sheetal's many hints: the diary and the photos, the game, the job
4. Sheetal states that Aarav could not go to the park to play because he had no Dad to come with him, so she made a small play area for him in front of their home.
And many more...
The whole sequence between yesterday and today looked natural. Aarav was angry, so Sheetal promised him to let him meet his Dad. The next morning Sheetal ignored all of Aarav's queries till he figured out that she was lying to him. Aarav leaves for school and everyone in RM tells Sheetal to tell Aarav everything. Sheetal cries and makes her defenses. Later, they find Aarav is missing and then hunt him, till Arnav, Khushi and Sheetal find him. All this while, Sheetal curses herself for being a bad mother.
At the first go, it doesn't look harmful except that Aarav was lost.
However, if one were to delve - some things do not seem to fit.
>> Sheetal knows Aarav is desperate to meet his Dad
>> She promises him and lets him know his favorite cafe's name
>> When Aarav is excited, she ruins it by ignoring his questions completely till Aarav breaks down crying, and leaves for school
>> The RM people tell her that she didn't do the right thing by lying to Aarav and Sheetal provides her reasons and goes upstairs.
>> Later, Sheetal gets a phone call when she is in the kitchen, but she takes it in the hall before everyone. She could have taken the call in the kitchen itself.
>> Aarav is found missing, and they realize that Sheetal didn't drop Aarav to bus stand this day
>> Arnav figures out that Aarav would be at the cafe mentioned by Sheetal as a place where Aarav could be.
I wonder if at all there is anything dicey about her – it would come out till Khushi is off the court! ROFL
Aarav in the Cold
What really struck me today was Aarav in the refrigerator - in the cold.
Arnav told Sheetal very categorically that she shouldn't have made a stupid promise she cannot keep, and that she should not have lied to Aarav.
Due to Sheetal's lie, the impact on Aarav was rather huge:
>> He was heartbroken by the lie
>> He was disappointed that the promise was not kept
>> He was hurt that he'd not get his heart's desire
>> He ran off alone to where he thought he may meet his Dad
>> He was very nearly lost, though he found helpful people on the way
>> He ended up being cold, so cold that he had to be treated from it
Arnav didn't leave the cafe till he found Aarav. He was super worried when he heard that the open door was of the refrigerator. He lifted Aarav out and carried him home and got him treated.
Hmm... this was rather interesting!
On the Lighter Side
In all the madness of hunting Aarav, there was a brief moment where I couldn't help laughing.
Khushi sees Arnav get worried for Aarav and telling off Sheetal in the car.
Khushi: I have never seen Arnav ji so worried.
Obviously, Khushi. One doesn't see very well when one has passed out or nearly died, or attempting suicide, is busy haggling over the price of 100 gms channas.
You wanna see how worried he gets? Install one of Shyam's cameras and pretend to disappear from Arnav's life.
The 'Arnav ji so worried' that you saw today wasn't half as much as he was when you passed out, nearly died or even when he thought you had met with an accident and ran off like mad after an ambulance.
Precap
Aarav gets out of bed to ask what's the commotion about and learns from Khushi that the next day is karwachauth. He mentions his mom fasts this day for his Dad every year.
Khushi darling gets another idea, it seems.
