5th Avenue was a mess. Khushi Gupta needed to get to her office. Now. She cruised her white, sleek Mercedes S430, along the street, when she suddenly heard a noise from the back. She put down her coffee flask, and rolled down her window in anger. She craned her neck out the window to see a filthy bike denting her new luxury vehicle. She angrily unclipped her seatbelt. And slammed the door open, to see a disheveled guy in front of her. She scoffed in disgust.
"Why drive a motorcycle when you can't even control it? You just ruined my new Mercedes. Ugh, you're so disgusting."
The man's mouth formed an 'o', "What? I ruined it? Maybe you should've seen the stop sign? And excuse me, my bike's dented too. The name's Arnav Raizada, and I don't take anyone's plain insult. Maybe you should learn to drive and be worthy of a Mercedes before you buy one." With that, he put back his helmet and vroomed away, with Khushi in awe that a person had just gotten away with speaking to her like that. She gritted her teeth, and got back into her car. In utter anger and frustration, she drove to her office.
Arnav, on the hand, muttered under his breath at how careless and crude the rich could be. They thought they could treat people with no respect and get away with it! How selfish! He drove home, to his beloved nani and sister, Anjali. Di was pregnant, and at her happiest stage. She hadn't known that her husband had deceived her. Arnav tried his best to hide that her husband cheated on her, and he would never come back from his "business trip". He may have not been rich, but he always placed his relationships first and succeeded as the number one brother and grandson. He always loved his family, and tried his best to keep them happy. However, things had gotten tough after he was fired from his job at Citi Bank. He would conceal it from his family as long as he could, by trying to find a job elsewhere.
Khushi walked into KG Industries with full pride, as always, to several workers' greetings, which she bluntly ignored. She solely made her way upstairs, her morning already being ruined with her accident with Arnav. After she passed, the workers looked at each and in their minds, they must have been cursing her for being the rudest of the bosses. Khushi opened her chic, glass cabin door to a patient Shyam awaiting her. Shyam had been her "boyfriend" for years, but they never had the zest of a real couple. They both knew that this relationship was solely a business alliance among their families. However, Shyam had always made an effort to love Khushi, and bring what was missing in their relationship. Who wouldn't?
Khushi ignored Shyam as well, who stood there with a bouquet of roses. She only huffed in anger, while he silently put the roses down knowing that she was angry. He then curled his arms around her waist, and nuzzled into her neck, "What's wrong, babe?" She looked up from her file, and snapped it shut. She broke from the one-sided embracement, and looked at a slightly offended Shyam. "Nothing's wrong, and stop this public display of affection. You and I both know that we share noting on a personal level. So, no need. Anyways, let's get to work, and attend the meeting shall we?" She left the disappointed Shyam in her cabin, thinking of what he had done wrong to be deprived of love. He dismissed his mixed emotions of anger and disappointment.
At the meeting, Khushi was at her best at doing what she infamously loved- torturing her employees. She scolded her "careless" accountant for having a small calculation mistake in the monthly figures, and her assistant had almost lost her job, because she had forgotten to add a slide to the presentation. To Khushi, the meeting was an utter shame, and she left in anger. After she left, the employees again started to silently curse her soul, and gossip about how she would always make their life a living hell at work.
Arnav was sipping his morning tea, as his di placed a loving hand on his shoulder. She sat down, next to him on the table. "How are you, Chotte? You know, I have a doctor's appointment today! I'm so excited. I'll be seeing the baby for the first time today! Its little feet, eyes, nose! Oh, I'm so happy!" She exclaimed in jubilance. Her eyes brimmed with tears of happiness, as she placed her hand on her slightly plump stomach. "I wished he could've joined me too. Will you come with me?" Arnav looked hurtfully at his sister, who still had the hope of her deceitful husband's return. Then, he smiled and willingly nodded.
After the doctor's appointment, Arnav dropped his sister home, and then left to his interview. He was slightly nervous. He knew that, in this economy especially, it would be very competitive and daunting to get a job. Especially at THE KG Industries. Yes, he was going to put himself into a shark's mouth by applying for a job in KG Industries, whose owner was none other than the crude, selfish brat he had collided with in the morning.
Arnav entered the office and sat on the booth till his name was called. He had gone through the interview very well, when the interviewer said that he was fit for the job. He was so happy and delighted! He was now the proud co-assistant of the owner of KG Industries. The interviewer then led him to their boss's office. They knocked, and were then motioned to enter by someone sitting in front of the desk, with the chair's back facing towards them. Arnav greeted her, "Hello, ma'am. I'm Arna-" Khushi swiftly spun her chair, to face him and stood up. "Arnav right?" She smirked, with her arms crossed in front her chest. Arnav's smile faded. "You?" He exclaimed. Khushi rolled her eyes, and released an evil grin, "Yes, me. It's going to be fun working with you, Mr. Raizada." She smiled at the thought of sweet revenge.
