May be because I saw how desperate Khushi was to find one sign to prove that it does not matter to her that her husband may have a son with another woman or find one proof that Aarav was not the same as her husband.
And I saw how oblivious everyone around her is to Khushi's pain.
Arnav - This man claims to love her who apparently can feel her presence without seeing her or read her without her opening her mouth. Yet he does not understand Khushi's discomfort seeing his ex with her son. And even if he notices her erratic behaviour, does not care enough to deal with it. For him, just because it does not matter to him, Khushi's insecurity and discomfort is trivial. Such a sensitive husband. Everything needs to revolve around what he feels and how he feels. Everything else is negligible.
Khushi - Trying desperately not to think about another woman being close to her husband but failing miserably. She knew about Lavanya, but then she did not have a son who was just like her husband. So she was a lesser threat and easier to accept. Sheetal, on the other hand, is not.
RM people - They don't know about the past but they are making connections as well. Not to mention, going as far as passing insensitive comments like they look like father and son. No one remembers that a new bride who just found her place does not need to hear that.
I said it during the wedding track that Khushi gets her happiness like a beggar gets a bowl of rice - like a favour. Arnav is a loving husband and he loves Khushi. What he lacks is sensitivity.
When Khushi included the whole family in the outing he planned for just two of them and did not understand his needs to spend time with her, people jumped on Khushi for not understanding his discomfort and to trivialize his feelings.
But Arnav could have fixed that by making Mamiji move to the other side of Naniji and thus creating space for himself by Khushi and NK. But he chose to sulk in the corner and berated Khushi when she came home saying, "I don't think you understand me."
The moment Khushi realized that she hurt him by not understanding, she ran to fix it and remove all his complaints including spending quality time together.
Today, Khushi's discomfort is more genuine and unlike Arnav's, can't be easily fixed. ASR is seeing her behaviour and yet he does not want to understand because it does not matter to him. Today, if Khushi says that, "I don't think you understand me", will she be wrong?
Today, Arnav is not fixing her discomfort. He is ignoring it and brushing it off as trivial. He saw Khushi's restlessness, yet he invited Sheetal and her son for breakfast.
I ask you,
1. What kind of mother sends a little boy alone to collect his clothes?
2. What kind of mother leaves a little boy in a toy store where any pervert can kidnap him while she interviews without arranging a baby-sitter?
3. What kind of mother does not feed her son before going out of her home?
It's New Delhi where even street food stalls open from 6 a.m. in the morning. She could have bought him a toast there at the very least. But she had to starve him until they get to Shaantivan because the prescription for his fainting spell was so important that she needs it right then but forgot it conveniently the day before.
Yet we think, it's Khushi's fault that she is not "coping" with his past as accepted.
If it was me, the slap she delivered would have been louder followed by, "When you feel I was insensitive to your feelings, you grabbed me with force and shoved me on the door. Today I feel you are insensitive to my feelings, I should retaliate somehow."
