Three.
It was 3a.m in the morning and Arnav was still at Lavanya's home drinking coffee as Lavanya snuggled up beside him. Arnav Singh Raizada wasn't the type to do such things so he didnt, but he never restricted Lavanya in her own doings, after all she was his girlfriend and she was his only exception.
'I better get going know Lavanya before anyone wakes up and realizes that I spent my wedding night away from home' Arnav explained standing up and heading for the door
'Okay Arnav, good night' Lavanya said softly before she kissed him on the cheek, Arnav stiffened a little, why did this feel so wrong all of a sudden? Was it because he was married now? Arnav shook the thoughts away as he walked towards his car, his main priority was to get home and all he needed to think about right now was how he'd sneak in without waking anyone up.
Arnav went around to the back doors and walked around the rose garden before approaching the stairs to his bedroom floor. He silently stepped down them and approached the big sliding doors to his room, they were already open. Relief was printed on his face, he had made it in without waking anyone. Suddenly Arnav's gaze landed on his wife, she was curled up on the recliner shivering in Arnav's way to big clothes, she hadn't even taken the blanket, had she been waiting for him? The essence of guilt roamed its way towards Arnav's egoistic aura, but it soon passed away, Arnav didn't feel sorry for anyone.
'Khushi?' Arnav called softly, hoping she would get up but she didn't respond. If Di found her like this in the morning she would definitely kill him, he tried again but the response was mutual. Arnav groaned as he walked over to her again, the only method that worked with this girl was to pick her up in your arms, and that's what he did. Arnav slid an arm under her legs and another round her back before lifting her into his arms, the clothes were awfully big for her but she definitely looked like she belonged to him when she wore his clothes. Arnav took her to his bed and elegantly planted her on the soft white mattress he began to pull away when he saw she was still shivering. He brought his hand up to her forehead and indicated her health. Crap. Khushi was as cold as ice.
Don't ever leave the side doors open when leaving your bedroom, Arnav noted to himself he heard footsteps pondering around outside and went to check who it was.
'Di you're awake?' Arnav questioned
'Yes, I just got up for some water. Is something wrong Chote? You seem extremely worried?' Anjali asked genuinely concerned
'Di, erm I left the doors open all night and Khushi's gone cold she wont stop shivering and I don't know what to do' Arnav admitted half lying and half telling the truth, Anjali's eyes widened as she strode into Arnav's room directly towards Khushi. She repeated the same steps Arnav had previously taken and then shook her head before she glared at Arnav
'Arnav it was your first night together and she's already ill, your going to need to be more careful! Let me go get the heat packs and medicine' Anjali explained leaving the room. The essence of guilt had now managed to completely flourish Arnav, he didn't treat her right especially after everything she had silently done for him, Arnav sighed he just couldn't win with Khushi. He stared at her figure that had now curled up in a small ball on the bed searching for warmth, she was fragile like glass but glass always left a cut if you didn't handle it carefully.
Anjali walked in with medicines, heat packs, a thermometer and a hot cup of tea handing them over to Arnav before walking towards the door again.
'Aren't you going to help me?' Arnav asked in confusion, Anjali smiled
'Don't be shy, she's your wife now' Anjali smirked before she left the room again, Arnav groaned, Great. Another excuse to touch Khushi, it was the last thing he needed.
Arnav walked over to his bed and sat down beside her, he held her shoulder and turned over her weak body so she faced him. Arnav grabbed the soaked bandages and placed it on her forehead pressing it down lightly. Khushi scrunched her eyes in the process, her sleep had been disturbed and she was sure to wake up now. Luck was definitely not in Arnav's favor today.
Khushi's eyes slowly drew open to find her husband sitting down beside her, Khushi shot up in fear, had she come to his bed? Was he angry? Khushi climbed of the bed when Arnav grabbed her wrist
'Where are you going?' He asked, Care in his eyes
'I-I'm sorry I didn't realize I fell asleep on your bed' Khushi whispered weakly, her voice drowned of energy as she gazed to the floor
'Its okay, but come and lay down, you're not well' Arnav said annoyed, was this really some sort of indirect punishment because he didn't want to do this right now. Having to be nice towards someone you dislike was a very hard job.
'I'm fine' She simply replied, from the corner of her eye she spotted a red sari sitting on top of the dresser with a note on top of it explaining how it was a gift from Di, Khushi took it and walked over to the bathroom to get dressed, today Khushi needed to go to her maternity home to complete another one of the rituals, she had no time to waste on Arnav's fake nursing Di probably forced him anyway.
Khushi walked out of the bathroom in a glossy red sari with small crystals scattered all over it. Arnav's gaze lingered on her for longer then he realized, but what was wrong with that, she did play the part of his wife right? Khushi noted how he didn't look away causing her to uncomfortably to leave the room, he was definitely eyeing her.
'Di, im leaving for my maternity' Khushi said walking towards the door
'Okay, I'll get Arnav to drop you' She answered
'No Di, I want to get a Rickshaw. I need to get a few things on the way and he can pick me up its okay' Khushi said avoiding any more moments alone with that man then she already had to endure
'Bu-'
'Please?' Khushi pleaded helplessly, eventually Anjali gave up and nodded but not in total agreement, Khushi smiled and headed for the door again pushing away the pain occurring in her head. She really needed some rest
Thanks to Khushi leaving for her Maternity Arnav could spend his day off with Lavanya. He picked her up and they spent the whole day out together just like he wanted and their was nothing in their way, but he spoke to soon as he got a call from his sister
'Arnav come to Khushi's house right now, she just collapsed on the floor' Di told clear worry in her voice, he knew she wasn't well enough yet.
'Call the family doctor, I'm coming' Arnav said simply as he grabbed his keys
'Arnav where are you going?' Lavanya asked
'I need to go to Khushi's house' Arnav explained walking away, Lavanya followed him
'Just leave her, cant you stay with me for a little while. We hardly get any time as it is!' Lavanya complained grabbing Arnav's wrist, he looked at her in disgust and shook his arm free from her
'Lavanya she fainted, sorry but I'm going to go. My wife needs me' Arnav said as he walked to his car, leaving Lavanya almost traumatized, since when was he bothered about his fake wife?
--
'She's fine, shes had a temperature all day and no one had provided her with any medicine. It was more lack of carelessness then anything' The doctor told Anjali as she glared at Arnav
'I told you to give her the medicine this morning didn't I' Anjali said in a scolding tone
'I was going to Di but she woke up and'
'And nothing Chote, you've only made her state worse! Look at how weak she looks' Anjali told angrily as they both looked at the lifeless figure sleeping away on her small bed
'Sorry' Arnav murmured to his sister who placed her hands on her hips
'Sorry isn't going to cut it, Arnav you're taking a few days off work to take care of Khushi' Anjali stated
'Excuse Me?'
