Woke up to the news of Barun Sobti all set to explore new green pastures of bollywood! And twitter birds say that he is gonna continue in IPK. No idea if he quits or not. Its just +'s and -'s of barun as an actor.
After all he is an actor and acting is his bread and butter. So being ambitious is a good thing and so far he has juggled the show and the movie quite (un?)successfully. Who can blame him for making hay while the sun shines?
I just wanna say few things about sobti ...(Well before reading this if you need affirmation. yes, i am not a crazy barun fan. I love ASR and as long as barun is ASR I adore him. Rest not sure, depends on his future roles)
As an actor he is good in small screen - well he had his on and off moments.
- His facial expressions repertoire is vast, is very effective and its his best asset(along with his from his physique)
- He is good in emotional scenes and
- He is a natural in 'angry' scenes (he has improved on that aspect - compare parking lot gussa scene and feb after terrace hug witness gussa scene).
But (my personal opinion), he has to work on some aspects as well.
- His posture (at times he slouches)
- low pitched voice and delivery ( ya i know it suits ASR but in big screen...not sure)
- grooming (I do not know if it is the ph or the actor to be blamed - but there are few scenes in which barun is not groomed enough. After all they are paid to look good as well. He can not be careless with that)
- Adding one more. Sometimes, he is not convincing enough in monologues. Especially happy monologues. He appears stiff, but it can be ASR character attribute as well. E.g. Anniversary episode , the way he laughs thinking about madness called khushi
I recently read few posts, screaming about how barun is suitable for BW or even HW.
I really hope he does not get deluded by the fan-girls who is smitten by the charm and attitude of ASR. Once ASR charm has worn off, we will really get to see the fanbase of sobti.
