I just want to get something clarified as I have not watched this serial from the beginning. The flashback of Anjali's wedding and the subsequent suicide of the mother is 14 years ago, however, in the episode of Anjali's wedding anniversary party, Arnav states that it was Anjali and Shyam's 3rd wedding anniversary, so presumably in the flashback she was not getting married to Shyam, is this correct?

Yes, because if you remember when Mami was making an issue about Payal's marriage being broken off, Anjali said how can you say that when your niece (Anjali) went through the same situation. Hope this helps clarify your query

Ok, got it! Thanks for clarifying, so presumably the guy called off the wedding after the double suicide - that's fair enough I guess!!

Could be, they realised the whole family is unstable.
