Dear Appy, firstly love your FFs!
Generally I do not get into these discussions because most times I just do not understand what the issues are really about. Most on the forum flip flop over the "issues" and whilst I do not always agree with most opinions, I cannot help but be amazed at the passion involved. What can I say, at age 53, life has taught me many lessons and I prefer to sweat the bigger things and just not judge.
I am however compelled to respond because one, I do believe you are correct on the ring and sindoor and two, Barun has done many more explicit scenes in his previous shows so I just do not get what the issues are with intimacy on this show if the script demands it! In fact I was perplexed to hear him speak of his discomfort on the same.
I can bet that if his movie demands "more" it will be done so I am certain that the article may have been out of context since no up coming actor will make such a statement in this day and age when intimacy is no longer taboo! More so since technology can be used effectively to accomplish the same effect.
I am not Indian but because of this show I have had to ask, research and buy many books on Indian religion and culture to understand some of the "traditions" referred too. Sindoor is most important in Hindu marriages and in some of the cultures it is accepted that when a man puts sindoor on a woman they are married even without the Saat Pheres. I do understand that today legal documents are required to solomize a marriage under these rites. Yet in this show those legal documents were deemed irrelevant?
The story of Krishna is beautiful but it also depicts an extra marital affair yet do no one wants to talk about the hypocrisy of the reaction of his followers many of whom in this show are pointing fingers ata legal marriage without Pheres!
No one on this forum is prepared to address these issues yet there is so much discussion on matters of a ring or Rabba Ves, redemption or women's rights etc. If the fundamental religious and cultural beliefs are inconsistent how can topics like women's rights be effectively addressed?
Like I said I enjoy the passion in many of the posts but I do believe that a lot of soaps, none Indian included, try to bring forth social issues but some where along the line the audience misses those issues and focuses on the "masala" and not the main plot!
IPKKND main plot is about a flawed man who falls in love even though he does not believe in love. Despite all his flaws he is loved by a simple, young girl who sees the heart that no one else sees. She knows that life will not be easy but she is willing to trust in his love and make a commitment. Having said that what is all the uproar about when we see ASR in his full flawed glory? He cannot change but that does not means he cannot be a good spouse. At times to win a battle you have to time your attack or simply compromise. In life it takes a lot to make any marriage work! Sometimes it does not work, no matter how many "sorries" redemptions. The solution is to walk away. End it all and start again! Has Indian society changed that much to accept divorces. In the Western World how many 2nd relationships work out? Not many. That's just life until we can correct some of the hypocracy that is tradition and religion and we start injecting real values in our young ones.
So how about a thread on how many watch this show as a family and discuss as a son how a woman should be treated and as a daughter that you have choices! I think that would add real value to what the show's social message really is but a message that most of the audience is just plain missing.
Sadly Barun's hotness and Rabba Ves are the focus! Hmmm what does that say about us?
I do love your FFs and your posts; don't alway agree with you but this times do!
Maya Aunty
PS: I too love Barun and his hotness and I am starting a petition to have him change religion so that he is allowed to have a harem! 😉
Now with that in mind how can I change the world!!!! But that's why when you get old you can say do as I say not as I do! 😛
