Khusi's web of lies

A lie leads to many more.

A lie is wrong.

A lie never solves anything.

A lie traps you.'.

And knowing all this Khushi still keeps doing it.

She lied by omission about Shyam and she got into big time trouble with Arnav

She has lied by omission to her family and now they do not know her suffering

She has lied by omission about her problems with Shyam and she suffered

She has lied by omission to her family and Payal about how Arnav has hurt and threatened and now she is cornered

In all of the above she never actually lied. She simply hid the truth. In all of the above situations what is she expected to do?

In each of the above instances can you see her intentions? There is absolutely no thought for herself. It is just for others. That is Khushi'she can harm herself, put herself in trouble, suffer'but she will protect her loved ones.

And then there are the lies she told Shyam for trapping him

The lies she told Raizadas to get away from RM

The lies she told Arnav to escape the last 10 days of marriage'

These were lies she said once again to protect Anjali, her family'

It is foolish to lie, when the world will know the truth soon.

But she is simply putting off hell to another day. One cannot go and tell an unassuming middle class family, one's marriage was for 6 months and now it is over. She is doing it as much for her family as for Arnav's image. Again a lot of selflessness (hate this mahanta. But sigh that is her character)

And then there is another lie which we do not notice.

The lie she tells herself'

That she does not matter,

She can go on with life,

She can live without him,

The marriage does not mean anything,

Arnav will move on without her.

Her heart won't break for Arnav

She can survive'

This is the biggest lie if you ask me. Because you can lie to the world and go on. But if you lie to yourself, you suffer and it is more damaging.

And this is why I am not bothered about the first two set of lies because it is for others. I am bothered about the last set of lies because that is going to hurt her and not let her face her emotions, deal with them and heal'

If Arnav can do anything for this girl (I have given up on redemption) it is to make her face her own feelings: the feelings of hurt, abuse, insult, worthlessness'

PS: Khushi's character has always been complex. And to think people think only ASR is complex. This girl is more twisted inside than the endless jalebis she consumes

i think i will happily admit even though i always support khushi because she is right

In psychiatric terms, she can be described as a compulsive liar. In layman's terms, she is someone who tells a good few white lies. She is indeed a very complex character but with a heart of gold.

This is extremely true, I don't get y she bothers lying ESP to someone who can clearly tell that she's lying and she's already seen how far of a mess one can create by lying even if it's a white lie, I feel most of the time if not all times white lies are the worst and have the most bitter outcomes, you should never decide for another person yes sometimes u should check the time, place, circumstances b4 telling someone something that is a harsh and brutal/cruel/bitter reality/truth but creating at white lie or sugar coating doesn't do any good, Anjali is a good example of that bc of all the white lies and over protectiveness any simple "lie" or misinterpreted situation is just as great or of greater betrayal to her, I feel if she was fed truth whether it be cruel or bitter if she managed it with understanding and maturity she would have been an extremely strong character and an admirable independent woman

A nice, thought-provoking topic, Rima!! I think we all have discussed a lot about Arnav's flaws in this forum. And so this is one of Khushi's flaws- her lies.
