WOW!!! Spellbounding!!!! You have done a amazing job. please continue soon. I am looking forward to the next part. Thanks for sharing this with us. BTW You are not rusty in your writing.
There was one person's belief that mattered to her more than any other, without which her whole existence would be incomplete and unfulfilled. She looked deep into his warm brown eyes, desperate for an answer, as she whispered...
'You believe me...
Don't you?'
She mentally prepared for the worst possible answer...
Only seconds ago, he sat close to Khushi, holding her hand tightly, his eyes holding a gentle expression. However, as soon as those few words were uttered, the atmosphere darkened instantaneously. The beautiful moment they had shared just seconds ago was now a sweet memory. His eyes no longer soft and inviting, were now wide, not a trace of emotion to be seen within them, the emptiness in his eyes mirroring the emptiness he suddenly felt within his heart. The slight smile on his lips had now disappeared and instead his jaw was clenched. His grip on her hand suddenly loosened, her hand falling out of his, the touch connecting them to one another now broken. He felt his heart sinking; his mouth became dry and the ability to speak suddenly vanished. The feeling of despair conquered him entirely, quickly spreading through his body as his mind began to comprehend the situation fully.
The girl sitting before him had been subjected to months of endless pain, constant heartbreak and the worst kind of betrayal, by no other man but himself. She was forced into a marriage, rather a contract of convenience, against her own will, a marriage she hadn't consented to. In an instant all her lifelong expectations of marriage and her ideal partner were shattered, the institution of marriage, its importance and all it had previously defined, had been destroyed. Due to his few moments of utter irrationality, the only family she had ever known, the few people who made up her small perfect world, were unwilling to accept her as their own, punishing her for actions she had no say in. He had robbed her of every ounce of happiness and love she had ever known. But she was still standing today before him, after every difficulty she had faced due to him, pleading for his trust and belief. Her desperation for him to believe her innocence rang loud and clear in her voice. It tore him apart to learn that despite all the sorrow he'd caused her, it was only his belief that she craved. And only a fool would deny her innocence after learning she had embarked on the journey from hell to trace his whereabouts, leaving no stone unturned to find him, even engaging in an alliance with the man she despises the most, all for the love of a man who she adores beyond any boundaries or limits. He realised, that her love for him never once faltered, and in fact her love was proved pure test after test, the last few weeks being the greatest indication of her undying love for him. The fact that he'd ever thought Khushi had wanted to destroy his Di's life left him questioning his own sanity. He felt ashamed that she was seeking his approval, when in reality it should be him kneeled before her pleading for her forgiveness. Arnav closed his eyes and tilted his head upwards; thanking the heavens for blessing him with the most magnificent woman, wondering what he had ever done to even remotely deserve this angel. It was now time for him to prove his love, so that any doubts she may have ever had, will all be erased forever more.
Khushi was waiting impatiently to hear his answer, her heart racing fast, her mind unwilling to let her heart raise its hopes and expectations. With every second that Arnav hesitated, Khushi was sure of his answer. Her lips began to tremble and her eyes were moist, gathering a pool of tears. She mustered enough strength to whisper, 'Oh'I see'' only to be interrupted by Arnav, his voice ringing loud and clear, 'There is NO doubt in my mind when it comes to you Khushi,' the sincerity evident in his tone, startling Khushi, the tears gathered in her eyes now falling. Arnav gently took hold of her hands, one in each of his own, their fingers intertwining, feeling the warmth emanating from one another. Arnav looked straight into her eyes, drowning himself in her hazel eyes as he confessed all, 'I may have been a fool to not believe you once, but I will NEVER make that mistake again Khushi, I can promise you that. And how could I ever doubt the person who risked their life to save me, despite, pain being the only thing I'd ever given you'' Arnav closed his eyes, reliving his previous turmoil, his eyes opening when he felt warmth on his lips, opening his eyes to find Khushi slender finger resting there. 'Arnav Ji, don't underestimate yourself,' she smiled slightly and continued, 'do you think I'd go to so much trouble for someone who'd only caused me pain'no, you don't understand how I feel when I'm with y-'
'So never leave me then Khushi,' Arnav interrupted hastily, bringing one hand to caress her cheek, 'Please Khushi'please,' he begged desperately, 'Today most possibly was the worst and best day of my life, the worst because those few minutes without you were pure hell, the thought that I may have lost you forever'' he trailed off, bringing his other hand to her waist, pulling her towards him gently, her proximity assuring him of her safety, 'I felt..Khushi, I felt as if my entire world had been shattered,' His hold on her waist was tightening, 'Every second that your eyes were shut, my heart screamed louder and louder, I craved a touch, a mumble and sigh, just anything to reassure me that the reason for me living hadn't been snatched away from me forever'Oh Khushi if ANYTHING had happened to you'' he paused, as his voice became dangerously low, his voice threatening to give out on him, as he whispered, 'I don't think I'd be here right now,' the truth in the last few words hitting her hard, she brought her hands up to his chest, and rested them there, his thin stained vest, separating her skin from touching his, 'Arnav Ji, imagine, I had to survive 15 days with the nagging feeling that you were in danger, and I could do NOTHING about it''
'Except you did, you followed and chased any possible lead, hoping to find the smallest clues'.NK filled me in on your adventures,' Arnav added the last part light-heartedly, responding to the confusion in her eyes. His tone then became serious and his voice turned husky as he said, 'Khushi I don't care if the world is turning upside down, I don't want you anywhere near that man ever again. I can't trust him with you; just imagining him near you'IT'S DRIVING ME INSANE!!!' And he didn't need to continue for Khushi to believe him, her heart swelled with pride to know she held such a special place in this man's heart, because the feeling was most definitely reciprocated. 'Arnav Ji, I will admit, I was petrified, and the whole ordeal left me shaken at first, but the thought of being apart from you even a day longer was torturing, and it didn't take long for me to go to any length to rescue you,' a beautiful smile now playing on her lips'
'Well I'll never make you wait ever again Khushi, you will be with me forever, till the very end, and even if you've had enough of me, I won't let you escape,' a glint of mischief shining in his eyes, her eyes reflecting the same, 'I don't think I ever will have enough of you, 'she replied.
Both stood there smiling at one another, pleased at the way events had played out, finally bringing them closer to one another, not only, physically, but more importantly, emotionally. The secrets of his heart and soul that Arnav had revealed to Khushi that evening, had held more importance to her than any touch they'd ever shared so far. Arnav Singh Raizada had finally let down the barriers to his heart and mind to the beautiful, magnificent woman he held in his arms. It was now time his actions compensated the pain he had caused her during these past few months, he wished to drown her in his love just as she had drowned him in her own. Plus, an apology alone could not pay the price of his actions, it was time for a promise, a promise to always love her, to keep her smiling and happy, a promise to protect her and prevent any harm from reaching her, a promise to cherish every moment spend in her presence, and finally a promise to fulfil the dreams he once shattered..
And with that he looked Khushi, his Khushi, straight in the eyes, his promises to Khushi etched in his heart, the words of each replaying in his mind, he slowly closed the little distance between them by drawing his arms tighter round her small waist. She looked up at him expectantly, as he lowered his lips, onto her own, brushing them slightly, before kissing her lightly, lasting less than a minute, however leaving both Arnav and Khushi speechless. It took a couple seconds before Arnav announced to her, 'That was for loving me unconditionally, despite everything,' causing Khushi to flash a smile that left Arnav admiring her beauty. It hurt to even take a step away from her, but he did so, knowing he'd be close to her once again in a matter of seconds. He walked outside, towards the pool, leaving Khushi standing alone, slightly confused, and he made his way towards the rose bush he'd planted some weeks back. When he left a fortnight ago, it had just begun flowering, the buds tightly closed, waiting for the right time to open and reveal the rose waiting to blossom. He could tell immediately that Khushi had been tending to his plants in his absence; he wondered if there was a limit to her ability to amaze him. He smiled to himself, thinking of the how perfectly the rose symbolised their love for one another, always present, just waiting for the perfect opportunity to finally be expressed, giving it the chance to blossom and surpass any boundaries and limits previously known to the pair. The same way, in which Khushi had watered these plants, nurturing them, she had also showered Arnav in her love, shaping him into the man who now stood in his garden, cutting a single rose free, ready to present it to the woman waiting patiently inside.
He walked towards Khushi, taking small steps, watching the smile slowly spread across her face as she noticed the crimson red rose held in his hand. However she had no idea what would follow in those next few seconds, as Arnav said, 'And now this is because I love you, always have and always will, forever and forever,' slowly lowering himself on to one knee, looking straight into her eyes all the while, noticing her eyes widen and her mouth open slightly.
'Khushi Kumari Gupta Singh Raizada will you do me the honours of extending our marriage from 6 months to forever?' He asked with a bright smile, presenting the rose to her. Khushi gasped, bringing her hand to cover her mouth as her eyes began to well up, tears of happiness rolling down her cheeks after a long while. 'Khushi, you came into my life like a storm, and you've affected me since the very first time we've met, my mind losing its grip on all sense of reason, my heart slowly surrendering with every sweet moment we'd shared. You are the light of my life, illuminating the darkness lingering within me for all these years. Khushi, you make me feel alive, because when I'm with you I feel as if my life, my soul and my purpose of existence is complete. My love for you always existed Khushi, ALWAYS, it may have been unknown to me, but that didn't it from blossoming uncontrollably. But I must admit, these two weeks taught me one thing: It pains me to even spend a second in your absence. And from now on I would like to grant you every happiness in the world Khushi, the only tears I want to see escape your eyes, are tears of happiness'Khushi will you be mine?' Arnav looked up at Khushi expectantly, his heart hammering against his chest, desperately hoping to hear those few words that would make him the happiest man alive. Khushi was now crying, tears of happiness, running down her cheeks, her smile widening, her heart beating fast, unable to control the happiness spreading within her. It took her a few seconds to recover from Arnav's beautiful proposal, before she exclaimed, 'Yes, Yesss, YESSS!! Of Courseee!!'
Her response sent his heart soaring, his body and soul experiencing no feeling other than complete contentment! He was extremely thankful for being blessed with every happiness possible in the space of a few hours. He stood up quickly, his arms encircling her waist, embracing her in a tight hug, which lasted a couple of seconds before he lifted her high in the air with his strong hands, twirling her round, her laugh echoing in the room and filling the space in her heart that had been empty for so long, finally completing him. As he gently lowered her, her feet touching the ground once again, he moved his hand towards a stray strand of hair, his hand lingering on her cheek before he moved upwards towards her hair. He brought the rose to her hair, and fixing it behind her fringe, the added accessory heightening her beauty, making Arnav smile at the woman he was proud to call his own.
They stood silently for a while revelling in the happiness of the perfect moment they'd just created, Arnav holding Khushi in a tight embrace, her arms around his neck and her head leaning against his chest, listening to the rhythm of his heartbeat. This perfect moment etched in their hearts and mind forever, the moment that Arnav made Khushi the promise of a lifetime:
A promise to always love her, to keep her smiling and happy, a promise to protect her and prevent any harm from reaching her, a promise to cherish every moment spend in her presence, and finally a promise to fulfil the dreams he once shattered'
And he thanked his lucky stars for the blessing this girl was to him, a blessing he truly did not deserve yet couldn't surrender. 'She's all I need,' he thought to himself as he let her heavenly scent consume his senses.
