UPDATE : Daljeet has decided to stay. This post is pointless now. 😆
If Daljeet has really decided to quit, then there is not much we can do other about it than just accepting it and moving on. But I am a bit surprised because I don't think Daljeet wanted the most important character in the show. At least that is what I felt after listening to her last interview. I felt that all she demanded was a meaningful role.
If you think about it, other than Arhi love track, most of the things revolve Anjali but Anjali herself doesn't get to do much. I don't think giving a character importance means the leads and their love track would lose importance. Isn't Shyam an important character in the show? Doesn't Abhaas have a prominent role? Then how does it matter if Daljeet is given a good role and some good scenes. If others characters and their tracks become watchable, then Sarun would get a bit of rest as well.
The worst part will be when they cast a new actress as Anjali and she gets to play a better role in future. That is what is probably going to happen.
There was something that was promised to every IPKKND viewer when it first started. Something that was aired as 5th Promo of IPKKND on Star Plus, a part of which was repeatedly shown in flashbacks... Arnav-Anjali's past and the connection Khushi might have with it, something that might be etched into memory of every IPKKND viewer because the promo was aired for 2-3 weeks.
If the past is indeed revealed in the future, wouldn't they have to focus on Anjali even a little bit? 😳
If they ditch this track then IPKKND will remain incomplete. Arnav's characterization will become meaningless. His dark past will remain a mystery and the loss will be ours.
If Four Lions doesn't want to mess things up, they will reveal the past sooner or later. They have faced enough controversies and criticisms for not revealing the past of the male lead of their last show. Those of you who watched their other show will know that so far Four Lions has made a conscious effort not to repeat some of their past mistakes. They have succeeded avoiding some but not all.
I want to ask all of you a question (those who are against giving Anjali more importance and are happy about Daljeet quitting). If after sometime the new actress gets a meatier role, what will you do? Will you demand a change in script because you don't want any other character to get any importance? Would you rather prefer they change the entire concept of the show?
Do you think that if they cast an established actress, she will agree to giggle, cry and carry a Pooja ki thali all the time? Or would prefer if they cast an actress with no screen presence or acting skills at all?
If the new actress is good, we may not feel the difference but will they are able to cast a good enough actress who is going to have good chemistry with Barun, Sanaya and Abhaas? When the original casting was done, the auditions went on for months. Will they get a good replacement in such a short time?
If the actress isn't good enough then the loss will be the IPKKNDs and ours. One miscasting for a prominent role can kill the beauty of the show.
I don't how much I should blame Daljeet or whether she should be blamed at all. But it's just ironic because she just received a nomination for Best Supporting Actress as Anjali. If sporting the baby bump is the issue, that's a different issue.
The cvs and PH are responsible for this for ignoring other characters for so long. Four Lions have a tendency of not focusing into some important things. They have certainly improved but not completely.
But I wonder if we are equally responsible for this. Some of us don't want to watch other characters on screen. If that is indeed the case, then how different are we from a certain group of fans (not all but many) who were satisfied watching eye locks?
I just hope the news isn't true and they work out something. May be are they are still on the discussion stage.
Whatever happens, I hope it is in the best interest of the show.
