BASHERS - you are not one of us!

Disclaimer: This is not about any post in particular, but about all posts that engage in calling each other "bashers."

Firstly, sick of this word. Something very immature about it. The kind of word that young stereotypical mean girls throw around. Labeling someone a basher doesn't mean you can automatically dismiss them.

Secondly, anyone who doesn't agree with you is not a basher. You guys are watching art, IPKKND, it is meant
to be received/interpreted differently. Don't get all hurt and mock people just because everyone did not see a scene like you did. The way karma works, the "uglied duckling/basher" turns out to have the upper hand. Don't be the bully and let it eventually blow up in your face.

Thirdly, this is a FORUM. Different views are welcome. You have no right to ridicule a view that you see as "bashing" or negative. I get a lot of this as someone who sees things differently. Yes, I love difference. It is a beautiful thing. Life would be very grey and boring if everyone agreed with me and thought the same things I did.

Ok, I am done with my preaching for the day.

mary - good one.
betchya this one wont make the forum sticky list, though...

Interesting read i had for my consumer behavior class.

Question: Does blind conformity threaten human survival?

Iain Couzin, Professor of Ecology & Evolutionary Biology, Princeton University

Well, just like in animal groups, blind conformity is almost never a good thing. You know, animals have actually tuned their behavior to have adaptive conformity in a way that they will tend to conform when it pays for them to conform. And in actual fact, having a diversity of responses turns out to be very important. So I was just reading a paper recently about innovation, about how animals can solve problems and even in small birds, like high sparrows, having a larger group allows them to have a sort of a better sweet of different types of personalities and behaviors within the group, which enables the group as a whole to sort of solve problems more readily. And of course, in human society, this is, you know, incredibly important and, you know, the types of specialization and generalization of skills are really interesting within societies. And of course, we can start building structure, you know, high **** or multi-level structure within our societies as well, so in addition to having this kind of self-organized behavior that's kind of distributed intelligence, we can also, you know, harness other aspects. And so we're not as prone to these kind of errors as we could be, but of course, there are multiple examples in history of societies really going quite heavily down a distorted path. And so, perhaps, you know, the animals who have evolved to behave within these large societies are less susceptible to such behaviors.

Yea lol my posts never get more than a few replies, forget being a stickie. Now I bet if I blinged it up with HOT PINK and other glaring letters, the response will be very different 😆.

I am big on psychology. That was actually what I was thinking of when I made the post. The Yale shock therapy test in particular comes to mind. But decided that was nerdy info my already disinterested readers will feel more bored by. Thank you for adding it!

oh sorry, mary, i didnt mean my first lines about sticky as a commentary on the popularity of your posts, i mean your post is contrarian and not conforming to mob mentality - so it would NOT be deemed meritorious by forum behemoths to be made into a sticky. thats all. sorry for the mini-MU

Good post Mary and thanks for the article SJ... I have a presentation to make in marketing and will include parts of the consumer behavior thing !

And bashing ... Mary--- the problem is defining it... and understanding it...people do not realize that everyone is entitled to their opinion as long as it is within the forum rules and go all over the place when someone differs from popular opinion ...well as the post says -- a mob mentality is not good for the human race and for the forum...the best way is state what you want and then ignore and chill when the bashers come calling !

👍🏼 Good post Mary..Agree with each and every word.. This word has become a favorite thing to use off-late.. Its like you cannot even state your opinion.. Honestly, it starts to stop you from commenting or discussing on any post.

Well said!
I hate it when people shy away from a real discussion saying:
1. Let us agree to disagree, because we all have to get along, only like all the time
2. You suck because I don't agree with you
I see a lot of that happening in the forum. What is wrong with a good argument?
