My little tribute to the Ghazal legend Mehdi Hassan

(and those on this Forum inspired by poets who share etheral words of beauty with the rest of us)

Rafta rafta woh meri hasti ka saamaan ho gaye,
Pehle jaan, phir jaan-e-jaan, phir jaan-e-jaana ho gaye

Din-ba-din badti gayeh iss, husn ki raaniyaan
Pehle gul, phir gul-badan, phir gul-badamah ho gaye

Aap to nazdeek say nazdeek-tar aate gaye
Pehle dil, phir dilruba, phir dil ke mehmaan ho gaye

Pyar jab hadd se badha, saare taqaloof mith gaye

Aap se phir tum huay, phir tu ka khunwaan hogaye

Kalpana.. what a marvelous tribute to our ghazal maestro!! Such an admirable rendition this is.. and then the pictures.. beautifully narrating the saga through the lyrics! He has left us but his melodies, his music lives on and they will always tell stories for us.. just like the one you have shown..!

shola tha jal bujha hoon hawaayein mujhe na do
main kab ka ja chuka hoon sadaayein mujhe na do

aisa kabhi na ho ke palat kar na aa sakuun
har baar duur ja ke sadaayein mujhe na do

I have tears streaming down my face as I remember this ghazal by him.. Sung just the way only he could..! There can never be another like him! And he is immortal for us who have had the good fortune of listening to him for years now.. we are blessed to have had him amongst us.. he lives on in our hearts forever..

Gulon mein rang bhare baad-e-naubahaar chale
Chale bhi aao ke gulshan ka kaarobaar chale

i was selecting this song , how he slowly changed in to her then i made on jab koi pyar se

Oh such a beautiful song,...my uncles Fav ghazal,...thnks for remind me of it...

loving the whole collage match up with the song verse,...of which one stood out and here it is...:)

Amazing how u showed the difference in slowly from getting closer to his dil n fully turning to dilruba...

the whole song was collaged beautifully,...this particular verse stood out to me...
