"We pass through the present with our eyes blindfolded. We are permitted merely to sense and guess at what we are actually experiencing. Only later when the cloth is untied can we glance at the past and find out what we have experienced and what meaning it has."
~Milan Kundera
'The Tale of the Antecedents'
I need to come up with superlatives to describe the Crooners, sweetheart, because the dictionary is simply running out of words for me! This Crooner put today's episode in such vivid perspective! You could not have chosen a better metaphor than mirage to showcase what we have seen in those set of eyes! The Gaiman quote setting the precedent; an oasis gone, shards in the dust! Your poem, a tapestry weaving each emotion, each sentiment that Khushi went through so beautifully! I am spellbound! Today's epi was like watching a movie...we are now at the interval...all the i's have been dotted, the t's crossed...now we wait for the unfolding of the drama...There was a finality to it...in many ways...Here we go!
Deal or No Deal: Well, right off the bat, a reassurance from the CVs that nothing will happen to ASR...Her "train jitni lambhi ummar hai inki' pretty much dispels any death wish for our resident "mechanic"; Shyam can plot all he wants! When he's willing, Raizada Repair Center is fully charged and operating (no pun intended!) Her "toh kar deejiye na" meets with refusal...she does not relent...he plays along...Reference to your mirage, illusion, the minute she says "gayab hoh jayega"; their time in this togetherness is limited! His "mujhe kya milega"--this is about him after all--gets a "aapko kya chahiye!?" Yet again, her asking never stops, but she never receives a straight answer. Talk of bistar and niche sohna gets a terse "uski koi zaroorat nahi"!!! Amen! We have confirmation from the horse's mouth that he wants her in his bed...when the reconciliation does happen, fireworks are guaranteed!😆 But for now, lets live with the dialogue, nothing else!
Then the condition...deal or no deal..."kal hum dono Shaantivaan jayenge...Bhool na maat... kyunki main yaad rakhoonga..." Yes, eventually, Shantivaan--that peaceful abode-- will be the destination for BOTH of them! Yes, a promise is meant to be kept! But for now, she will not be at peace to go with him. Her footsteps will cross the threshold there, yet she will be put to the test. Herein comes the test of her love and her trust. And, we have a long time to go before Arnav himself will come through on his end of the deal!
The Diamond in the Rough: Beneath the hard core, a treasure... Buaji...Buaji will be CRITICAL in bringing ArHi together. Buaji corrects Khushi's "mistake." Buaji apologizes...She will "sudhaar"-resolve- the issue! "Hum ko pata hi nahi chala"...she never knew the misunderstanding...The blue tooth conversation was very interesting here...she doesn't understand why he needs the device...in her mind it doesn't allow you to listen to someone completely...Loved the analogy to being deaf! Sure enough, her "babua, dekh ke" gets a slip & fall into dung...I too did not understand the point of this scene other than to show that Arnav listens to only that which he wants! Frankly, the religious significance of the fecal matter was not apparent to me, and the Rabba Ve there was completely unnecessary!
Lady in White: I did not read too much into this scene until the conversation between Manu & Mamaji. I think Mamaji pretty much spelled it out for Manu, ArHi & us...His 'tum hi bhoot hoh' a reminder to keep your eyes open, and stop being delusional! Again, your reference to illusions vs. reality very apt here! So are we now done with bhoot gate, once & for all!?😕
Of Mirrors and Marriage: A scene reminiscent of so many before it...A Rabba Ve that was heart wrenching, just like the one's before it...the Antecedents...The mirrors & those mirror curtains in the dressing room when he taunted her, in the RM when she glowed in delight at his gift of bangles, the morning of their wedding when he reminded her of her missing bindi, without which she is incomplete...the night of her suhagraat...that most beautiful of evenings--when pain shattered her dreams...to the Heer Ranjha enactment, when immortal lovers' truths were revealed...looking at each other through the clear glass door when she talked of Sundari & Shaitaan...and today, we saw it yet again...when sadness, confusion & anger permeated their souls; that vortex of unending emotions!
Her friends prod for a synopsis to her special day...She hesitates remembering the pain...yet, she indulges them, & in turn, herself! Her description of her lehenga very much that of her own joda...given to her by his sister. She highlights what she loved about it...Every detail taking what was in her heart..It spoke to her because it had was partly "haraa", forest green, her favorite color-- like wet, lush, majestic, pristine mountains...and red, the color of matrimony, of him & them! Yes, the joda had both their beloved colors...yet, she was the only one wearing it; admiring it! No one to compliment, no one to look beautiful for! The jhumka-heavy, yet intricate in detail...awaaz karti...like the bells in the temple where they married! Her bangles-- covered her wrist & created the intimacy between them that day--not the person who should have taken them off to reveal those beautiful wrists! The ghungroo on her payals made her aware of crossing the line...into this disillusionment; a sham! The chand sa sundar tika...a tainted mark on her forehead, for what they had gone thru together, but nonetheless, she slept under the moon that evening, alone! The pallu...she had no hand on her head to remove that pallu, yet the sky with all its stars draped itself over her head...Yes, Priya, here we saw a melding of what was her dream, and what was the reality! While she only spoke of the dream, her eyes spelled her pain!
He hears all of it; feels her pain...His eyes touch her beautiful face! Yet, the mirror shows a hint of guilt, endless questions, confusion and in his very last look at her, anger! Yes, she has questions to which he will not give answers. She doesn't deserve his answers! I can't help come back to the mirror scene with him reflecting in it! The mirror tells him he doesn't want his loved ones to be hurt; he would rather internalize their pain! Yes, everything he did for the Guptas--from apologizing for his lack of 'Amma,' getting the pani puris & pasta, fixing things for people to make them happy--all showed his vulnerable, "good" side. Yes, it showed he loved her, he has always loved her. Allowed him to acknowledge that love! Yet, the very same mirror, drew out the anger, resentment, and how broken he is! Those last few seconds on his face spoke volumes! Such contradicting emotions all exposed on a surface that never lies! The past is still there...and will always be, yet soon all will come unraveling! And yes, the mirror will be present to share the truth!
Scratching my head moments: So in a small house full of ppl, Garima & Buaji are clueless to the Raizada Repair Center happenings...Yeah, CVs, you guys dropped the ball on this one! Zucchini becomes chinni...makai ka baccha becomes baby corn--loved the sentiment behind making Continental food, but to be honest, they were in the midst of wedding preparations! I could not buy that they would drop everything to decipher ingredients & cook up a "damaad worthy" meal.
Why is everything related to the wedding being done at the GH? The initial conversation between Nandini & the elder ladies was about guests staying there...now its become Grand Central Station for all things wedding?😕
Kushi remembers all the incidents in his "initiation" to get to know the neighbors; but didn't all of those things happen the day before? Ahhh, naughty Khushi & her one track mind!😆 So, are we to assume that Arnav got a custom bath given by Khushi at the hand pump two days in a row?!😳
Was it just me, or was Arnav totally turned on during the cleansing today!?😆 His face reminded me so much of the dhaaba scene in Nainital, right before the lifts her & takes her in!
And, won't Payal attend Preeto's wedding? Why are the CVs pretending Payal has taken a sabbatical from her own Dilli based maayka ?😕
Something tells me Preeto's wedding will have some kind of a hitch...This rushed affair, the sangeet & shaadi all in the same day business just hints to something is amiss! This will exacerbate the situation for ArHi, provoking the outburst!
Sanaya redefined grace, beauty and what it means to have a tortured heart! Sobti was like a kaleidoscope of emotions...each more brilliant, vivid, and breathtaking than before! Hats off too to the actress who plays Buaji! Just loved her today! The dialogues with all the puns & entendres were some of the best we've seen so far in this track! The actors got into them! Extras need some work...but hopefully, one more episode & we are home free! I finally saw the body doubles in play today😆, and yes, the episode worked even without the leads in the same frame together! What can I say about copyright, yaar...We'll soon have to start registering everything we put on the site! Hail, Woodwa Ve! It finally got its "true" due!😆
Yes, we are back to where our saga really started, sweetie...A lot has passed and been seen...Time to get our popcorn & drinks ready for the next big chapter...The empty vessel(s) wait(s) to be filled! Absolutely love your song pick today (and I adore Phil Collins!)
