Great post, Gitika.
Everyday I rely totally on the wonderful posts made here on IF before even watching the epi to brace myself for what is to come. These posts have become a crutch that I use to walk through the epi when I finally get to see it here 4 and half hours after it is aired in India.
And then I have to go back again to the posts, both the old ones and the new ones in order to make sense of what I've seen as I clearly do not have the brains to get either the point the cvs are trying to make or how the epis are connected to each other and the story. And then I try hanging on to every bit of psositivity I can glean from them till the next epi. Sometimes, I wonder if I would watch this show if it were not for the posts which are like beacons in the dark morass the show is slowly becoming.
To be honest for me the posts on this forum are now the raison de etre for watching the show rather than the show itself.
I'm still trying to figure out what this week was all about, though I have to confess Wednesday's epi had me laughing my head off, but then my logical self tells me- yes, it was great fun, but where did it take the story? ASR yo-yoing between softening and hardening, while KKG yo-yoing between buffonery and despair is getting very tedious and exhausting. The snake and to maami seem to be the two constants in the show. I'm beginning to question my own sanity in wanting to sit on this emotional seesaw everyday despite the queasiness it leaves me with afterwards. The cvs take us half a step forward only to pull us back 20 steps.
But then how could there be any progression? There is no real story- just an MU based on the flimsiest of evidences and the promise of a happily ever after- and if they showed the MU ending there would nothing left ot show. As I said in an earlier post, the whole premise seems to be to keep the lovers close enough to keep the viewers salivating for more yet keeping them separate enough to keep the viewers in eternal hope for the happy ending. Meanwhile, plot, logic, story, consistency can fly out of the window.
What gets me is how could an intelligent bunch of people like us (and I am not being facetious or cute here- the amazing analyses and creativity I've seen in this forum are more than testimony to this fact) have fallen for this trivialest of stories? And worse we've seen through it and yet can't seem to get off the seesaw.
All I want is for this silly MU to end and get ASR and KKG to be involved in a real story anchored in their relationship but not focused on it, Something that gets them to work as a
team,
Methinks, ASR and KKG would be great as an Indian version of House and Cuddy, or Castle and Becket or Jane and his partner (just can't recollect her name, sorry), but you get the idea. Anything that is not just empty romance, something more cerebral. I ask too much, I know.
But looking on the bright side I can say with hand on heart, that the posts and the people who've made them have been a privilege to meet, albeit in the cyberspace. They have given me immensse pleasure with their insights, humour and sheer fun.
