Big, big thank you to everyone who replied to the last OS. I really appreciated it and was absolutely overwhelmed by it all. This one does flow from the last but is not a direct continuation. Hope you like it as much as you all liked It had been six months, even though it is quite different in style. Please do like and comment if you think it worthwhile.
Holding onto his right hand she dragged him into her office. Once inside, she let go off him and turned to close the door, before turning back to face him. "How dare you?" she hissed, staring directly into his eyes. Her face was flushed, her body shaking with the vent up rage. "You come into the company I work at, insult me in front of my boss and demand explanations for where I've been for the last 4 months. Your nerve astonishes me," she spat out, her voiced laced with venom, causing Arnav to grimace and take a step back.
Arnav knew she'd be angry, upset and would most likely yell at him in front of everyone, but a rise was exactly what he had wanted out of her. With her adamant on pretending she had never seen him in her life during his first few meetings with her boss, even after he had tried to speak to her in private, this was the only he knew she'd acknowledge him. However he had not been ready for the icy tone with which she lashed out at him. She shouted at him just as she used to before the solemn six months but a tenor in her voice had changed. She had become fierce, her eyes vicious not just incensed. She'd changed.
Looking down at her aggressively staring back at him, demanding an answer, he stuttered, "I...uuhh..."
"You... uuhh... what?!" she mimicked him, refusing to turn her scornful gaze away from him as if daring him to defend himself.
"Khushi," he sighed, looking past her turbulent eyes, the depths of which he didn't have the strength or courage to even gaze into.
"Get out," she spat, causing Arnav to look directly back at her in surprise. He tilted his head to the right for a fraction of a minute before straitening up his posture and rigidly replying back, "No."
Narrowing her eyes she moved past him towards the door, before he reached out and grabbed her right wrist. With their backs turned to each other, he stood holding her and continued, "Not until you let me speak."
Forcefully pulling her wrist out of his hand she turned around to walk back and stand directly in front of him. "Don't you think I know what you want to say? Can't let go of an opportunity to insult my intelligence, can you?" she questioned, her voice shaking with fury.
"I..."
"I'm not done Mr Raizada!" she shouted. Taking a deep breath to calm her nerves she continued, "So you've finally found out the truth huh? And you want to apologise?" Turning around she walked behind her table, standing with her back towards him. "What part exactly do you wish to make your repentance known for?" she questioned, trying to sound amused, "Is it for coming into my workplace and making a commotion, for attacking my dignity in front of my boss and co-workers, or are we going back further than that?"
Silence spread throughout the cabin as she turned around to face him again. "You do not walk in here hoping to say sorry in the expectation of forgiveness," she whispered, rage rising within her voice once again.
"I'm not expecting you to forgive me," Arnav replied, taking a step towards the desk.
"Yes you are. You're not one to make an investment unless there is some return in it for you," she whispered, ineffectively hiding the rage building up again inside her.
Her words pierced him like a sword, the cold reaching in and twisting his heart, causing him to droop his shoulders and drop all pretence of vigour. Her words were cutting away at him, everything he had come to despise within himself was coming to the forefront, but she wasn't going to relent yet.
"You married me for six months to protect your sister's marriage, to keep me away from a sick bas***d I never wanted to have anything to do with anyway! For your sister's happiness, and your own mind you, you snatched everything I had! Is that what you want to apologise for?!" her temper increasing causing her tone to rise, as she stared at him standing in silence, "Or is it for refusing to answer any of my questions and forcefully marrying me without even trying to find out the whole truth?! Or for yanking me out of my content family life and turning me into an orphan once again?!" her shaky voice shouting directly at him, tears welling up in her eyes as she struggled to keep them from leaking out. A weakness she did not want to share with him.
Blinking back her tears she lethally whispered, "Or is it for continuing to make me suffer even though you had found out the truth before the end of the sixth month, that I was at no fault..." at that he suddenly looked up at her, astonished, "...yes, I knew you had found out!"she shouted, observing his shock.
Turning away to gain some kind of composure, the room was once again flooded in silence. Arnav stood rooted to his spot, unable to utter anything or make a movement of any sort. Shell-shocked, he turned to leave the room, too embarrassed to say or do anything. Before he moved out of the doorway he heard her whisper, "Don't come back."
