Anjali-"Chote, go and get ready. The wedding will start at 11:00 am. It's 9:30 already and it will take us one hour to reach there." It was NK's best friend's wedding today and the six of them had decided to go there.
Arnav-"Chill Di! Don't worry, I'll be ready on time." He had hurried upstairs to his room. On the way up to his room, he peeked into Khushi's room and heard her singing from the bathroom. He observed her sari kept ready on her bed. It was baby pink in colour with silver embroidery work. He was eagerly waiting to see her in this sari. Even though it wasn't his favourite colour, he knew that it would suit her very well. He made his way into his room and opened his closet and picked up his shirt and trousers and went into his bathroom.
Half an hour later, the others had assembled downstairs already. Arnav heard them calling out his name and he went down.
NK-"Where is Khushiji? We are already late. We have to leave soon or my friend would be very furious with my delay. Khushi..." He called her again at the top of his voice.
Khushi-"I'm coming. Just a minute." She had been saying this for the past ten minutes. Here NK was getting really impatient. Arnav rolled his eyes imagining what would Khushi be doing, taking so much time.
Arnav-" NK, you better get going with others or else you will be delayed. I will bring along Khushi with me." He said convincing his cousin to go ahead to the wedding.
NK-"OK Nanav, Here's the keys to my other car. You know the place right. Please try to come as soon as possible." Saying this he and the others went outside.
Arnav decided to go to her room upstairs to see what Khushi was doing. The door was slightly ajar and he pushed it open to reveal a struggling Khushi frantically trying to tie the Dori of her Blouse with her back facing the door. She had been unsuccessful in tying it for the past ten minutes. She knew everyone would be annoyed at her for getting delayed but she couldn't help it.
Suddenly, she felt two hands on her bare back and her body jolted as if she had been electrocuted. Those hands successfully tied her dori into a tight knot and she could feel his warm breath on her back. She knew his face was so close to her back. She could feel the heat emanating from his body. Unable to control her surfaced feelings, she closed her eyes, her breathing rising rapidly. Her hands clutched the sides of her already draped sari.
These days, she had been quite physically close to him, be it hugging, lying on his shoulder or holding his hands. But she never felt this way in any of those circumstances.
He turned her towards him, and could clearly see what effect he had on her and this excited him. Her eyes were still closed, her chest was heaving up and down with heavy breaths. She looked gorgeous in this sari. This scene reminded him of the Diwali night, when she had looked equally beautiful that day. He remembered all that had transpired between them after that fateful night and he shuddered at his hurtful actions against her.
Arnav-"Everyone else has left. Come let's go. We are late." His voice had brought her back to reality. When she opened her eyes, she was stunned to see this handsome man in front of her eyes. He had worn a Baby pink shirt and a black tie with jet black suit to match her sari. He looked no less than any prince charming. She went into a trance with his beauty.
She instantly snapped back to reality as he looked at her with a raised eyebrow questioning her. She began to blush and was embarrassed thinking about, him tying her dori.
Khushi-"Yes! let's go." She involuntarily held his hand and went downstairs towards the car. As they reached the car, he held the door open to her. Just as she was entering the car, he stopped her and tucked the strand of hair lingering on her face behind the ear. She couldn't help but smile at his gesture and he returned back his signature smirk to her.
He entered into the driver's seat and started the car. Silence prevailed with them like it did most of the times in a car. But after 15 minutes, Khushi couldn't take it any longer.
Khushi-" Thanks.. for the earlier help." She mentioned thinking about her Dori.
Arnav-"What help?" He was so lost in the thoughts of the girl beside him, that he was confused at their sudden conversation.
Khushi-"Woh, actually, ermm.. you helped me tie my blouse..." She was quite embarrassed saying this aloud.
Arnav-"OH!!!" It suddenly striked his mind. "You were getting so late, so I decided to help you out." He tried glancing her sideways, making sure he never left sight of the road ahead. The blush on her cheeks was only adding more beauty to her already gorgeous self.
Khushi- "Hey, are you fine after yesterday night? Did you get good sleep?" She said placing a hand on his shoulder. She remembered last night about how he had been sad and gloomy. She could still clearly remember his tear filled eyes. She shuddered at that and promised herself that she would make sure, it never happened with him again.
Arnav-"Yeah! I'm good and I had good sleep." He smiled remembering their entwined fingers and how he had felt good after her comfort.
They reached the wedding venue. It was an open air wedding held at the house of NK's best friend. The venue had been beautifully decorated with pink and white flowers everywhere. They met NK and others who had been waiting for them.
NK-"Finally you have arrived. Come Khushiji, I'll take you around and introduce you to my best friend." He had grabbed Khushi's hand and pulled her into the crowd leaving behind a furious looking Arnav staring at them.
NK had taken her and introduced to all his friends and both were seen busy chatting around with everyone. The wedding ceremony had begun and after all the procedures, it was time for the dance. All couples were invited to sway along with the bride and the groom. Hearing the announcement, Khushi began to search for Arnav in the crowd, but couldn't find him. Here, NK was requesting her to dance with him.
She didn't hear anything of what NK had been blabbering to her. Her focus was only on one man, whom she suddenly found standing at the corner staring at her. When NK had put forward his hand to ask Khushi to the dance, he had turned away and left the crowd.
Khushi-"I'm sorry Nanheji, but I'm in no mood to dance." She had excused herself and left the dance floor, walking towards where Arnav had disappeared. She searched everywhere and couldn't find him. She remembered seeing disappointment in his face when NK had asked her for the dance. After searching for five minutes, she found him standing all alone in the nearby Gazebo. She silently went and stood beside him.
He turned around as he felt her presence. They could hear a slow song in the background and everyone waltzing to it.
Arnav-"How was your dance with NK?" He asked sarcastically trying to cover up the disappointment in his voice.
Khushi-"Why didn't you join the dance floor?" she questioned him without replying to his question. He looked at her with accusing eyes.
Arnav-"You didn't answer my question!" She could see him furious at her but he was patiently controlling his temper.
Khushi-" Actually, I was not interested in dancing." She replied smugly looking at the ground. She couldn't bear to stare back at his furious eyes.
Arnav-"Oh!" that was all that escaped from his mouth. He became glad that she had not danced with NK. After some time, he decided to reply to her question. "I don't like dancing in front of everyone." His tone had mellowed down and all traces of anger had vanished.
Khushi looked up at him. He was gazing her with an embarrassing expression on his face as if his truth was out to the world.
Khushi-"Do you even know how to dance?" she questioned him suspiciously. He himself was not sure when was the last time he had danced.
Arnav-"Ofcourse I do!" he answered back at her, sharply. He wasn't going to admit his weakness to this girl. But his eyes couldn't hide this fact and Khushi instantly knew it. The song in the background changed into a very romantic number. This was it. He was never going to ask her to dance. She had to take the first step ahead for the both of them.
She held out her hand requesting him to the dance and motioned him to hold her. She quickly glanced around her to make sure no one was around them. He entwined his fingers with her right hand and placed his arm on her back as she followed the same. Both of them gazed into each other's eyes as their bodies automatically swayed along with the rhythm of the song.
It didn't matter if he swayed in the wrong direction or moved his wrong foot. It was as if their bodies were in sync and she guided him. After two minutes of their exhilarating dance, the song stopped. But they still held on to each other lost in their eyes. Suddenly a passionate number began playing in the background.
Arnav couldn't control this time. He let go of her hand and put his hands on her bare waist pulling her closer to his chest. Khushi was astonished at this sudden proximity between them. She could feel his body pressed against hers. She quickly placed her hands across his neck, bringing her face very close to his. She could feel his warm breath on her face. She could smell the arousing fragrance of the cologne on his body. She felt her pulse rising rapidly. Maybe he could feel her rising heartbeat due to the closeness of their bodies. She lowered her gaze unable to meet the powerful and penetrating gaze of his eyes. She could see the same passion, he had in his eyes on the Diwali day.
He could see her lips quivering. He had seen that sight before and he knew where that was leading to. His body was so close to hers that there wasn't even a space for an air molecule to pass between them. He could feel her chest rising and falling rapidly with anxiety. He loved the effect he was having on her. He felt his hands explore her bare back, her skin so soft and pure.
He lifted his left hand and tucked the strand of hair covering her face behind the ear. He brought his lips closer to her left ear and whispered. He had been wanting to do this for a long time ever since he saw her.
Arnav-"Khushi, You look really beautiful and gorgeous, especially today." She quickly looked up into his eyes, amazed that her man had finally admitted it aloud.
Khushi-"Even you look dashing today, Arnav." She had popped it out of her mouth. She turned all red admitting it.
Arnav-" Oh! Do I?" He had asked her in his husky voice, pulling her even more closer to himself. She removed her hands from his neck and enveloped it around his broad shoulders, placing her head on his chest as they swayed along with the passionate song embracing each other.
Arnav-"Thank you, for being beside me yesterday night, when I needed you." So he had finally admitted to her that he had needed her. She realized that they had a long way to go. This was just another step in their direction.
Khushi-"Hey you dance well!" she said with a reassuring smile on her face.
Arnav-"I know that. Afterall, I'm Arnav Singh Raizada." He had whispered with a boasting look on his face bringing his face really close to hers. Both of them smiled at this, content that they were happy with each other.
After the dance was over, they decided to head back to find the others. They found all the girls in the party, gathered together in the centre, all of them desperately trying to catch the bride's bouquet in order to be next in line for the marriage.
Arnav-"Khushi, Don't you wanna join them?" he asked with a smirk on his face.
Khushi-"Are you serious? I'm in no hurry to get married." They were busy talking to each other standing far away from the girls when Khushi and Arnav both felt something smack their head. "Ouch!"
It was none other than the bride's bouquet which had smacked her and Arnav's head. He quickly caught it before it fell down to identify the source and looked ahead to see all the furious faces of the girls who failed to catch the bouquet and the apologetic bride who had disastrously missed her aim. Was it Devi Maiyya's sign that both of them were the ones made for each other? They looked at each other with confused expression in their eyes. Neither of them had seen this coming so soon.
Arnav threw the bouquet back at the girls lest they try to pounce over them for it. After the whole fiasco, Anjali had arrived at the scene. She questioned both of their perplexed expressions.
Anjali- "Chote, Khushi. Why are you both looking so stunned? Any problem."
Khushi- "Actually Anjaliji..." she was cut short by Arnav's interruption.
Arnav-"Nothing Di. We are just going to be fine. No problem." Anjali had walked away with an even more confused expression on her face at his reply.
Arnav-"Hey, don't get any wrong idea about this." He turned towards Khushi with a serious tone and face. He had quickly put up his defences snapping back to reality.
Khushi-" I am not getting any wrong idea about it." She had said smiling at him. By now she had known enough about him, to analyse his responses. She held his palm and went towards the buffet area to serve food for both of them. She knew she had a long way to go to finally comprehend this man. But she would put every effort from her part to be beside him when he needed her and she trusted her Devi Maiyya with it.
Once again, plz forgive if it was long and boring. I had so many ideas for this part, but somehow ended writing about this. hopefully those ideas will feature in the next part.
