Actually, in IPK, both the families are Punjabis which have both Hindu as well as Muslims. (Following Independence). Hence,the Malliks might have their roots in Muslim community. And Raizaidas belong to Punjabi Hindus !

I am not sure though !

The Raijada or Raizada are the descendants of the ruler of Junagadh. A Kingdom in Shaurashtra peninsula. . Junagadh was then under the Chudaasma Rajputs a branch of the Lunar or Chandravanshi line ofRajputs, who trace their origin to Lord Krishna. The Ruler of this Kingdom was addressed as " The Rah' " ( Eg. Rah' Navghan, Rah' Khengaar, Rah' Dayaas, Rah' Maandalik) The Crown Prince to Throne of Junagadh was known as the Rah' as & when and until he occupied the Throne. Rah' was the Title adopted by the Ruler of Junagadh. As it happened in all the Monarchy, The eldest or the worthy son of the Ruler was made the King while other sons were granted Jagirs within the Kingdom. Likewise the son that came to the throne was known as The Rah' while the rest of the sons were given the jagirs and were known by there clan The Chudasama or Sarvaiya.

Thanks for the info. I think the Rajput connection explains why the middle name is Singh.

This is really interesting, thanks! I am a real nerd about this stuff, even if it concerns serials. I can't help it. Don't really care what religion they represent, I am just interested in history.

Oh I thought he said that in the Lord Arnav sense. Cause I thought he was a mu-bole chacha who worked under them and was more powerful when Arnav was a kid.

I can say this much that at the beginning of the show I did some research on raizada title and found that what preeti has already posted above
Interesting , when I searched six months back , Barun Sobti was nowhere near it but
Now if you google raizada , second in list is Barun Sobti 😉😃
IPKKND and BS have made Raizadas famous

@Sush..Hi there 😃😃

Raizada is not a made-up surname.. When I was in Delhi..in school, had several students with that last name...

In college.. I actually crushed on guy for a month when I used to take the U-specials.. ..He also had the surname "raizada'... but got over him real quickly when he opened his mouth and figured out he was quite dumb (worse luck !!!) 😆

you're right about the 'zada' part - any word using a 'zada' suffix has a muslim/urdu/persian root: sahabzada, raizada, raeeszada ... these are urdu words.

But something you said sparked a memory ... one of the promos had stated that Khushi is responsible and linked to his dark past ...

I wonder if they have changed that now, with the track having been modified a bit recently? Or if they will continue with that angle? If it is the latter, your history might come into play a bit. If not ... what a waste of the promo and the build up of anticipation.
