Arnav Singh Raizada takes his mother's last name because his nani and mami are also part of the Raizada khandan. It couldn't have been his father's last name because...
1. Their family are a kind of zamindari family from Lucknow that lived in Sheesh Mahal
2. He said to his chacha that he is only Arnav Singh Raizada now, not something else...
3. He has given up his claim to the zamindari because the chacha threw him out.
But...problem...
Lucknow has a major Muslim city during that time, so it is difficult to see how the zamindari family there was Hindu. Please don't start a religious battle, I am just pointing out historical inconsistencies, nothing else.
Lucknow being a major Persian influence, the name Raizada makes sense for the mother's side of the family. But zada comes from the name Zadeh in Iranian, which again, belonged only to Muslim zamindars who came from a Persian influence. This would be possible for a Hindu family to have maybe if they were given the honorary title. But I am sure the CVs didn't think this deep and decided on the name because it sounded all fancy.
Say the mother's side was given the honorary title, that would make the mother's side zamindars too. So, is that intentional? Were both sides of his family supposed to be zamindars or just one?
The Gupta family, if they are tied to the family history, could also have some connections to the zamindari lineage. As Gupta was a common zamindari name in the world post the Gupta Empire. But again, I don't think the CVs gave it much thought and went with royal sounding names. In any case, if they read this, I hope they fix up these loose ends.
So...what do you think of my analysis?
