Khushi opens up her about her life. This is critical if ASR is to help her with her father later. At that moment when she is recounting all the fears she harbors because of their deaths, both of them are so vulnerable it is palpable. This is where Khushi demands his empathy and oh man, does she get it. Superior acting by both of them. Both Sanaya and Barun, not OTT, not forced, pure natural and raw. Stellar.
Khushi really hits a cord with ASR here. She remembers how young she was ' he was older and is still coping, she was a mere child. She looks up at the stars ' ASR don't you do this too? She is afraid of fast cars and the dark. She wonders if she will wake up from this nightmare ' but she knows that she is older now, it won't happen. Sanaya is unbelievable here. These all spark emotion in ASR, does he remember his reckless drive in the SUV, does he remember the dark guest house where she was alone. Does he remember his own darkness when his parents left? The one he struggles with everyday? The darkness that molded the mask he wears? The looks on ASR's face ' heartwrenching. He regrets, he understands and yet cannot voice it, until she leaves.
This was a key dialogue for me when Khushi leaves. She tells him ' you know about me now, and yet you cannot apologize because we are not of equal status. It is then that Arnav finally utters sorry. I am sorry and we are equal. How easily he was able to utter it three times in a row. To new beginnings.
P.S. ' I love how neither of them can divulge the real details of what happened. Khushi cannot bring herself to say ASR gave her a heartfelt apology ' in the end it was not like he was bestowing her a gold medal at all. And ASR, he is so troubled, but can't tell his ever apologetic (darn it!) Di who is exactly troubling him. He's going nuts, and he knows it. HAHAHAHAHA!!!
*side note ' KKG I am fine with your debrief on what happened except the patthar part. What part of this face looks like it doesn't feel for you???
