Barun is still not that good as ASR - Page 2

I agree too. Barun looks amazing. He suits the persona of ASR. He makes us believe he's a rich arrogant dude. He's great with his scenes with Anjali. But sometimes i have to go back and watch the scene again and again just to try and figure out what he may be thinking. Like when he was staring at those pearls in his hand i was like is he still angry or is it remorse and why did he say Khushi.. Then i looked at the scene again analyzed that the flash back of him manhandling khushi and ripping her blouse. I was like ok regret. He's very close but just another 10% clarity and it'll be all ok.

Ok like when La kissed him and he turned around to look at Khushi. What did his face say?? Was he smug? was he like YES khushi is Jealous?Was he like oh shit messed up again or was he like I didn't mean for this to happen.

But somewhere i feel its not Baruns fault. He's doing fine. I feel its the directors fault. I have seen Barun in Baat hamari pakki hai and he was supposed to over act there and he did great. Here he has to underact but somewhere since there are no voice overs we the viewers are left guessing. like after that kiss if he had a slight smile we could have guessed he was being smug or happy that khushi was J. If he was slightly (very slight) wide eyed we couldve guessed he was like oh shit. Or if he was frowning and his face looked like he wanted to explain then we couldve guessed he didnt want this to happen.

Also when she was leaving the mandir. He kept looking after her. Maybe if he looked slightly forlorn we could've guessed that he was wondering when or if he will see her again. Now were not even sure if he even thought of that or was this meeting enough for him.

So Barun is great i LOVE HIM. But the directors need to also clarify his stance about Khushi. But maybe thats what they want. Us to be confused so we have trouble analyzing him and then they reveal what he feels through his actions.

Either ways again i say love Barun. He has strong screen presence and is a great actor.

You know like why is it mattering so much to him that she cares what he does, because automatically his eyes and his face turned towards her. and unlike previous time, she was pissed off. Not sure why but she was so pissed off that even after that scene got over she was still fiddling with the match box.

I agree somewhat with the TM ... I find it difficult to decipher Barun's expressions at times. I know he is supposed to be poker faced and hide what he's feeling, but his eyes should mirror his feelings. It's a very difficult role, so I don't blame him ... it's far easier to emote with the support of dialogues, and he has very few. But I often compare this with Gunjan of MJHT ... there Sanaya was the one who had very few dialogues, and had to emote through her eyes, and I never had any problem figuring out her feelings at all ... she was brilliant. Barun is getting there, but he's not there yet, and I for one, am often not able to figure out his emotions ... now whether that's bad acting or bad direction, I don't know. Like the scene when he looks at Khushi getting mad ... someone said he was looking smug, I didn't see that, but I could not decipher what he was feeling at all. On the other hand, when he touched her hand while taking the thaali, I liked him ... he held her gaze very firmly, and I felt that the touch was deliberate ... to challenge her to look back at him. So a mixed bag for me ... But he has great screen presence and that helps a lot.

Hmm, personally I like the way Barun's acting now a LOT. In the starting of the show, I felt there were bits which could be better, but that was totally understandable considering he's never played a character remotely close to Arnav. But have to give it to him, cause he's really gotten better, and sometimes he doesn't need loads of dialogues cause he emotes well with the eyes. I love the way he stares ;P rofl...
Yeah, he's not perfect, but no one is. Playing Arnav must be very hard and he's getting the hang of it. The best thing is he doesn't portray anger OTT-ishly. That's the best bit.

Honestly, veryyy few actors on TV currently could've done this role. And among the "options" that were being considered and suggested by people- none.

Barun is shown expressionless when he needs to. You are right that he should convey trough his eyes. But when he doesn't feel anything in his heart (he has build a shield for his heart that any outer circumstances from the outer worlds, not from his family) he doesn't really have any feeling to convey.

It just means that he is learnt to be calm and quiet, which is what his eyes convey when he seems expressionless. 😳

I totally see your POV, but i feel that you are misunderstanding the calm, unaffected and quiet face as expressionless. 😊

guys I think his expressions are just right ...look ASR is trying to hide his feelings or rather the fact that he is feeling anything ,,hence he deliberately goes balnk ..even verbally look how many times he denies... I am not interested , mujhe koi farq nahin padta ,, so he has to go poker faced ,,,It is just right ... I think of 3 scenes where he was awesome ...1) when he tells anjali what happened in GHn and anjali says why are you doing thid to Khushi ussne kya kiya hai ..and he replies pata nahin kya kiya hai ..that one line was delivered with so many layers .. guilt , exasperation, confusion , desperation , attraction all rolled into one ...

2) when he is questioning himself ...he is like pehle main uski baaton se pareshaan tha ab uski khamoshi mujhse bardasht nahin ho rahi ..aakhi mujhe ho kya raha ..again very layered textured dialogue

3) then the aarti scene he conveyed his emotions for khushi which are very complicated ...sharing a secret (vrat tootna) attraction , irritation of a fight ..confusion and his concern for anjali at the same time all very well ...

so I believe he is doing very well ...maybe just maybe though i do not remember any , his expression could be better is some scene but then improvement ka scope to har jagah hota hai ..as long as you are living ...and then every one , , , you me has a bad day in office , at work at school .. all days are not same and no professional can be consistent in his field day in day out ..be it a cricketer , lawyer , whoever

i would add last one line that epitomizes ASR for me ..after GH night Akash asks Arnav bhai kya theek se soye nahin ...aap bahut thake hue lag rahe ho ..and ASR says main roz aisa hi to lagta hoon ...

so that is the ASR look for you ..and Barun so far has fit the bill very well

I love Baruns voice modulation. Love the sweet huskiness in his voice. Its so damn sexy.

I disagree, I think he's splendid, and his acting is perfect for the role, I don't see why you think he's expressionless etc, its really obvious what he's thinking, and even when its not, its because the director wants it that way, cloudy, throwing questions about arnav's feelings for Khushi towards the audience. Come on, even Arnav is confused and doesn't know about his feelings, so? what does a person do when he feels that way?
