I will never argue IB is a great show. But the beginning just drew me in. The first scene was the Mahaarti with the three brothers doing it. Then we go into FB mode and get introduced to Dadi who introduces the rest of the family. SSO entry was memorable like Arnav entry in S1. Anika entry was not so great, but where she breaks SSO's windshield was memorable. The three brothers entry on a yacht all were memorable.
Remember IPK 3 entry and Maha Aarti ? We got Bahubali. 😡.
Ask who Chandini is and after 50 plus episodes each of us will give a different answer. Ask what expressions she uses frequently and most of us will draw a blank.
Anika uses "raita pahelega" after 300 episodes and I get what she means. SSO's description as a "ganji ankhon wali baagad billa" is a catchy description like Laad Governor. These phrases create an image, an identity and those are important.
Why did I talk long about IB ? I simply disagree Harneet cannot write. She did create memorable characters in IB, a fairly popular show internationally and a jodi that connected with audiences internationally in Shivika. So she can do it.
What she cannot do is write for 2 shows at once and create two different sets of characters that are strong and people can connect to. At one point she was writing for three shows including DBO. My question is why ?
IPKKND deserved a lot of things. It's own title, background music, good costumes, better set, lightening. But most of all it deserved it's own writer. One who could concentrate on building up characterization. The actors deserved that, most of all Shivani and Barun for they were the ones who carried the story.
The person who failed her actors and must take the blame is Gul Khan. Harneet failed in IPKKND 3, but I will never say she is a bad writer. IB is a testament to that.
