Advay. Singh. Raizada.
Do I need to say more regarding what the post is gonna be? Chalo, phir bhi I'll add up the disclaimers.
Disclaimers:
1. As usual, in support and appreciation of Advay, IPK3, Barun.
2. A bit of comparisons here and there.
3. Out and out Barun-licious post. (Yes, I am a Sobtian. Koi shak?)
If you are against any of the said three, have a good day, take care and be safe.
The rest, lay back, I probably will get carried away with the post. Coz
a: work, health and net problems kept me away from posting anything for quite a few days.
b: Barun is absolutely slaying as Advay Singh Raizada.
c: I am hopelessly in love with Barun and Advay.
Did anyone watch the film The Blind Side? Its er...kinda old one. Released when I joined my B-Tech. If you havent, do watch it. Its one of those must watches (if your taste runs parallel to mine). Sandra Bullock carried a truck load awards for this film (which includes an Oscar as well).
Now why did Blind Side come in here?
Well, there is one particular dialogue in this film that Tim, aka, the guy who played as Sandra's husband, uses. The one that describes his wife to perfection.
She..is like an onion. You've gotta peel her back, one layer a time. Or, cut into two halves.
And eversince I saw this film, this dialogue has stayed with me. I use this quote in almost all my works I've written so far.
And now, needless to say, it suits bloody damn apt to Advay as well.
Peeling back the enigma.
Advay Singh Raizada keeps intriguing me, more and much more with time. He is as layered as it can get. As complicated and complex as one can go. And yet he is as clear as the Morning Sun.
The more you know about him, the more you are confused.
The less you know, the clearer you are.
The vice-versa applies too. And that's what makes Advay Singh Raizada an enigma.
The less you know about him, the less you are confused.
The more you know, the more you are clear.
Its like..you know why he is the way he is. But then there are times he makes you go 'who the hell is he?' ya phir, in Meera's words, 'kya samajtha hain ye idiot apne aap ko?'
And in this post, I am going to share the few layers of Advay Singh Raizada that we've been disclosed to the last couple of episodes.
The Icy-control over emotions.
Arnav Singh Raizada is a combo of a triggered bomb and a muted song.
That guy wouldn't think twice before he bursts like a volcano and goes destroying everything in its wake.
Had PP been in IPK1 and said something about Khushi the way he did about Chandni, PP would've royally landed himself in a hospital with his body battered and beaten to a pulp. (even if and when Arnav and Khushi were at logger heads)
And mind you, Arnav Singh Raizada did not need PP's sexual intentions to show his famous enraged side. A buzzing fly is enough to trigger him off his precious cool.
Haider Ali Khan is, atleast according to me, somewhat a normal guy when compared to the ASRs. In his words, Jo bhi hain, jaisa bhi hain, saamne hain.
He draws his lines and makes them way too clear and loud. As long as you dont trespass those lines you are as safe and happy as a blooming daisy!
And tbh, he would even let you play with the lines if you get close and lucky with him.
But damn, beyond those lines is too high an effing wall that is too damn impenetrable. And if those blaring and glaring warning signals dont scare you away, dont you worry, Haider Ali Khan too possess a temper than can downright give you a fever.
Coz the transition of the charming, flirting, all smiles and happy going, and not to forget, poetic and seductive guy; to this hulk mode banda does throw you off your chair and wits.
Now, to the man of the present, Advay Singh Raizada. This guy is hard to be put under a label. Or atleast for now. Coz, ya know, we dont know everything of him yet, like we do about Arnav or Haider. And I know this for sure, that with time, as his layers keep peeling back, one at a time, Advay will be as dear as Arnav or Haider, if not more. (He is for me, right from the day he was aired in the promos. Like I said before, I have a thing for layered people.)
There is something very beautiful and intriguing about the way his character and characterization keep contradicting from time to time. Infact, the contradiction lies strong and high every single minute.
He is there. Out there. Open and upright. All of him. And yet you know that it is not everything. There is something more to him. Much more than you see. Much more than he lets you see. May be...he is much more, way much more than he knows and believes he is.
One of the few profound things that set Advay apart from Arnav and Haider, is the control he has over his emotions, atleast when he is amidst people. The control though, is just..overwhelmingly impressive. It is like an iron clad. Unwavered and almost icy.
For ex. the scene where PP revealed that all he wanted was a one night pleasure with Chandni, you see the red fury burning Advay. He literally shakes with rage. But...he knows better than to burst out and blow the entire steam. He knows that he needs to handle the situation and if possible, manipulate it to his advantage.
The cold fury he manages to bite down every time he has a heads on talk with Indrani, or the rest of the family is just..amazing. Infact, it leaves me gaping and surprised, and well, impressed too, that when he is in his charming best and wooing Chandni, his eyes give away the naked truth that he is all but scheming here. He is making her fall for him, not the other way round. The fact is out and loud, slapping across your face, once you reel back and look past the enchantment that he weaves around.
But it is when he is alone or with his most trusted ones does he let his emotions spiral out of their confinement.
And even here, I see a pattern. Well, the one that applies as of and for now.
When he is with the ones he trusts, that is the only time you see his real anger, or may be just the surface of it. Not suppressed one. Nor the entire magnitude of it.
And when he is alone, that's when the real him comes out. Be that the pain, or the anger or the hurt and tears.
The pained, the soft and the love side.
ArnavSR
Like I said before, his past is packed and put away in a box. Hidden and well out of reach for anybody to even know. He kind of walks away from it and prefers it be buried and not thought of and be reminded of and be mulled over.
And when it comes to his sweet and emotional side, he is as good as a wall. That is the one side he chooses to keep to himself. Something that he finds really difficult to articulate and expose. It took him great deal to spill a few beans of his past, betrayal, pain and hurt. And even then, it is not something he would talk of often. Nope. It is almost a once in a blue moon when it gets too damn heavy and suffocating and he has the right person to share it with. And one it is done, it is done. A closed chapter with a tight lid over it.
But when he loves, he effing loves. With all of him. He might not go all poetic...actually, scratch the might. He will not go all poetic or even prosaic for that matter of fact. (except for once in a blue moon and that;s enough to floor me into a mush of unrecoverable mass of jell-o)
Arnav Singh Raizada is a man of less to no words. But his actions..haayeee (I still love him, you see. It just keeps increasing with time.) His actions leave you no room to complain about the lack of his words. Coz you see, Arnav Singh Raizada has a tareeka and andaaz of his own. Be that to win a deal, or to win a heart (make that multiple hearts *sigh* ).
HAK
This guy though, is way more of a self destructive guy. He acts as if he has packed and parceled his pain and past and puts up the ever disarming charming smile. But in real, he walks all over that stuff, tripping, rolling and hurting.
He does try to escape from the consuming guilt more than the pain, well, only in vain. Coz try as much as he may to run away or even move on, he is pulled right back into the very core. Every single time. Guilt and pain is a venomous combination, you see?
And when it comes to softer side...haayeee.. (sorry, but that guy is the charming best of Barun, man. Total swoon-worthy) If this guy likes you, he likes you, period. Be that as a friend or a lover, he makes sure you know he likes you and how. He, is a man of both words and actions and his charm will leave you craving for more.
And when he loves...mukammal kar deta hain, yaar. With all of him.
AdvaySR
You see, Advay is more of pain than rage. He carries the burn of betrayal. He is not temperamental. He is enraged, and for the right reasons. Deep, dark and proper reasons.
I've said it before, and I repeat myself again.
What the others did to him is a crime. What he feels for them is anger.
What Chandni did to him is betrayal. What he feels is pain cloaked under rage.
That's where this borderline obsession of revenge, as of now revolving and centered around Chandni stemmed from.
Like I said this before too, Advay doesnt hide from his pain. He doesnt run away from it. He doesnt pack or parcel it. Neither does he act like he's moved on. He, infact, has created his very existence around the loss, betrayal and tragedy that's happened to him. He breathes, lives and survives on it.
He, in contrast to Arnav and Haider, refuses to run away, or move or, or even think of attempting or choosing the above mentioned two as the mere possible options.
And yet...and yet you see that no matter how strong and focused he is on his thirst for revenge, there still is that soft side to him.
And this is yet another thing I love about both Arnav and Advay. Arnav knows he has a soft side to him and he, with every ounce of his strength tries to keep that from coming afloat. Coz he, beneath all that tough guy, is still an emotional mess who can easily get hurt. And that is the reason he tries to resist from even being the softie in the first place. That's a line he drew and wouldn't even turn to look at. Its almost as if there is no line.
Haider is an altogether different story. He knows he is a softie. He knows he is a kameena. And he has no problem ruling and acing them both, embracing both the sides and living through them. There's no line for this guy.
But Advay here...he knows he has a soft side to him. He accepts it. He drew a line and he is pretty much a smart and accomplished expert to deal and sail through either sides of the line when needed. He does the good at times, but refuses to embrace or get attached to it. The line is bloody clear, crystal so.
Coming back, Advay, as we've seen, is not all too unaffected. He is the master and the boss when he executes his plots and schemes. It is when the unplanned or unintentional happens does it effect this guy.
He was a goddamn pro, an Adonis almost, when he was all seducing and charming Chandni. But one innocent, unintentional brush of her hand, that guy was enchanted.
And Holy Lord.
Advay Singh Raizada is borderline obsessed!
Its like..Chandni is his. And his alone.
Be that to love, or hate, or tease or break. It is he and only he who can do anything with his girl.
And not to forget, sweet butterflies!!!
I've never seen someone adore the person they swore they hate, as much as Advay adores Chandni.
Everytime she stands up to him, everytime she talks back and gives it back to his face, everytime she flips his tricks right back at him, everytime she tries to imitate him...?
What the hell is that adoration and twinkle of pride all about?
No, I am not complaining. Its just that...its too sweet, man. For an anti-hero that he is.
Also, I've kinda realized that..both Advay and Chandni seem to have this unexplainable and invisible bond between them. A bond of familiarity. That seems to have birthed from the relation that they've once shared.
While with Chandni its getting more and more clear that she doesnt feel threatened or disgusted or uneasy around him. Somehow, her actions kinda scream her trust in him. Why else would a girl walk into a stranger's house, that too his bedroom? Specially when that said stranger swore to her face that she's a liar, an actor and a manipulator and that he has come with a hand full of games ahead?
Either she's gotta be insanely brave or un-f**king-believably stupid!
Why does she not hesitate walking into his room, like in her words a machar, every time something odd comes up or happens?
I agree they live in the same house, but if someone scares the shit out of me and I dont like them or I am scared of them or I feel uneasy around them, I would avoid paths with them, at every given cost.
But nope, Chandni finds herself in his room way more than she finds him in hers. To talk, to threaten, to explain, to question and well, to go sassy as well, she walks into his room with a right that I dont think even she realizes.
Why, if she doesnt trust him, or some innate part of her feels connected and is sure that he wouldnt hurt her no matter what he says, does she walk into a man's room in the darkest of the nights, alone, without anyone having the knowledge of it, that too like a Katto Gilehri? (I am loving that yaar. Katto gilehri. How cute is that?)
Does that not speak of this middle ground and age old ease of familiarity between them? A bond that neither of them know exists or acknowledge holds them together, even when the either of them are unaware.
Is that why Advay finds himself drawn to her? Does she bring him back the sense of being belonged like he once did when he had his entire family with him? Does she bring back the one root he could hold onto and be connected with, the roots that he has been brutally cut off from, 16 years back?
And I was wondering yesterday, when they showed this little cute flashback of kiddo AdNi and the adult AdNi...ki...is there a chance that Advay actually wants Chandni to figure out that he is Dev?
While in the initial episodes where he slips to being Dev and unintentionally asks her to watch her head when she came out of the bed, once upon being asked what he said, he almost reprimands himself and changes the subject to another lane.
But yesterday, he dint, for once, feel uncomfy when he asked her to be the murga. Why?
Is it, according to him, time for her to put the two and two together and connects all the dots he is leaving out everywhere?
Does he want her to see past the wall he put up for the world? Does he want her to slip through the cracks he's been leaving open?
What is this Advay Singh Raizada?! Kya cheez hain ye ladka? Kis mitti se bana hain ye banda?
As of now, he is one of the most intriguing enigmatic characters I've ever read and understood. And I for one, am psyched to unfurl and decode him further. I just hope and pray that the CVs dont bow down to the TRP mess and change the character and characterization that Advay innately is. Coz you see, I've fallen in love with him.
Advay. Singh. Raizada.
Warm golden rays lay hidden in the swirls of his burnt embers,
Like the breeze of dawn, deep secrets he withholds and yet flickers.
His charming smile reminiscences you of the sweet smell of spring,
Dark thunder storms - his aura stands out- mystique and intriguing.
