He is the anti hero. Ready to cause destruction. He is darkness. And yet he is soft, gentle and attentive. This is what makes Advay Singh Raizada so fascinating. Yes Advay loves to rattle Chandni. He corners her, grabs on to her hand and holds her waist. He's persistent, bordering on stubborn and refuses to accept no as her final answer. But he also seeks her permission before lifting her up, he lets go of her hand on her insistence. And he gently places the dupatta back on to her head, right after she flings it over him. What is this Advay Singh Raizada made of?
One could argue that this is all part of his plan. That Advay is deliberately on the charm offensive, putting out all the stops to ensure Chandni gives away her heart to him. After all, he's seen too much. He feels betrayed and blames his childhood friend for his loss. He is a tortured soul. And yet he still has a heart. The moment where he saved the puppy from the waters (1st epi) wasn't a moment of randomness. It was somewhat symbolic and telling of Advay's nature.
The burning desire to seek revenge is the sole cause of his darkness and painful life. Otherwise Advay's inherent nature is quite the opposite. Here we have a man of today who is also instilled with traditional values. It's ironic. All his life he's carried the burden of the past. He's angry, hurt and sees darkness around him. And yet when he does smile, it also brings that mischievous twinkle in his eyes. It is hard to understand this man. So many layers to that complicated personality. He is what he is. And yet he's a lot more than what we think he is.
The more we see of Advay Singh Raizada, the less I understand and the more intrigued I become. Makers of the show have created someone who quite frankly, is far apart from the rest of the pack. This is not just an angry young man. That formula has been tried, tried again. Recycled...recycled again. Advay Singh Raizada is beyond labels. He is like that strong wind that brushes against the side of your face and feels harsh at first, but then you slowly begin to like the feel of it.
Advay Singh Raizada, tumse kya kahe?
Kaun kambakht kehta hai ke mohobbat mushkil kaam hai? Hum toh bahut asaani se tumse dil haar chuke hain
Side note: the dialogues between Advay and Chandni during the final scene of the episode were praise worthy, once again. But the line that got me was Advay's "tumne kaha tha na. Apni koi cheez chod ke mat jaana." 😳 Barun Sobti, slaying it 😎 Such simple and subtle lines but they oozed with charm!
