Here's a behind-the-scenes look at Iss Jungle Se Mujhe Bachao

By: Shaheen Parkar Date: 2009-07-13

Mumbai:

Over the weekend, the 10 celebrity contestants of Iss Jungle Se Mujhe Bachao were air dropped into the Taman Negara jungles in Malaysia one of the oldest rain forests in the world so that they remain clueless about any entry/exit routes. The desi version of international show I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here airs on Sony from tonight. The person who survives till the end, wins a cool crore.

On Thursday, the participants met each other for the first time at the Carcosa Seri Negara in Kuala Lumpur. Chandigarh women Fiza and Palak have already bonded big time.

Providing last-minute touches to the cooking area

The Toilet

An open-air bathing spot

and a covered area for those who don't wanna bathe in the open

How they will live
For the next two months, they will sleep in the open on makeshift haversacks with jungle creatures for company. They will have to cook with firewood, wash and clean in running streams and have an open-air bath or fill tubs of water to bathe in a makeshift wooden bathroom and toilet. They will only be provided rice and soya beans everyday and will have to do physically enduring tasks to win a variety of food rations. This includes a Junglee Dinner that involves sticking your head into a bowl of leeches or scorpions to gather food rations.

What they will reveal
Sooner or later, the past catches up with you. So apart from tasks and their daily chores, they will gossip the highpoint of any reality show. So will Marc Robinson talk about ex flame Preity Zinta and Akashhdeep Saigal about Farah Khan? There is also the Aman Verma and the Ruchi reporter episode. Meanwhile Shweta, Palak and Fiza have their own stories to reveal.

Voice of reason
When emotionally or physically hurt, the participants can enter the Jungle Daak Ghar to air their grievances in front of the camera which will help them overcome their situation.

Work in progress
From the past several months, the channel has been putting big bucks into the show that is produced by the format owners ITV/Silverback along with the Alva Brothers' Miditech Productions. Though the Malaysian authorities had plans of developing the place, it gave up its plans halfway. Now the spot is a beehive of activity with makeshift production offices, over a 100 crewmembers from several countries as well as miles of cables for the several hidden cameras.

Most of the I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here series have been shot in the Australia outback, this is the first time it is being shot in Malaysia. As soon as the Indian show is over, the Swedish version will also be filmed there.

Call of the wild

PALAK: I want people to see the real me unlike what was shown in Roadies that wasn't me.

Marc Robinson: This is alien turf for me. I had my apprehensions but I'm game for it... to add to my experiences in life.

Fiza: I was the last-minute entry to the show. Initially, I was a bit hesitant as all the rest are from the showbiz world. Hopefully, I will last for a week or so! In the past few months, I have been under the media scanner due to my ex-hubby Chand Mohammed. I wonder what will be said now!

Shweta Tiwari: People have seen me in soaps playing a character all this while, now here is a chance to see the asli Shweta. Also man survived the jungle years ago, let's see if I can.

Chetan Hansraj: Though I have taken part in an earlier Fear Factor series and even won it, this was an opportunity to test my endurance levels again.

AkashHdeep Saigal: I have done a reality show earlier that involved dancing, now I will do a rumble in the jungle.

Aman Yatan Verma: I played several roles on television, now the audience can see Aman as he is, without mouthing any pre-written dialogues.

Mona Vasu: People tell me that I was born a junglee, so going back to it was a logical step! Moreover, I want to buy a house of my own in Mumbai and I need big bucks for it.

Anaida: Simply for the singularly unique experience I have never ever done reality shows.

Ishq Bector: I want to get into the hearts and homes of the people and what better way than through their television sets?

Palak eager to wear revealing clothes...
14 July 2009 | 5:27pm

Barely few days in the jungles of Malaysia, and our dear Palak is full on with her antics and drama in Sony's Iss Jungle..

Palak, the girl with lots of adjectives in her mouth is back again to entertain everyone with her trashy antics on Iss Jungle Se Mujhe Bachao which airs on Sony Entertainment Television. And guess what? She's already started with her nautanki!

Says our source, "In the rain forests of Malaysia, where everyone is running for cover from creepy crawly things, not to mention the rain, Palak is complaining that she is not able to reveal her body. She is thoroughly disappointed that the dress code does not match up to her expectations."

However, Palak somehow figured a way out to flaunt her body during one of the promotional photo shoots. The source tells, "During one of the photo shoots for the promotion of Iss Jungle…, Palak made sure that she chose the shortest dress to wear! Hope it has made up for some of Palak's disappointment."

We wonder if Palak is aware of the skills needed to survive in a tropical rainforest. Surely, a sexy figure and a bratty mouth do not qualify for that! And is Palak acting this way to give a fake impression to her competitors?

To find out catch 'Iss Jungle Se Mujhe Bachao', Monday to Thursday at 10 p.m. and Fridays at 9 p.m. only on Sony Entertainment Television.

Shweta goes from Bahu to Bicker!!
15 July 2009 | 9:28pm

The beloved television bahu Shweta Tiwari loses her sweetness over a pinch of salt!

Shweta Tiwari who has always been considered affable, is now seen in a grumpy avatar in Sony's Iss Jungle Se Mujhe Bachao. Seems like the Malaysian jungle lifestyle is not at all suiting Shweta Tiwari, who has earned the nickname desh ki bahu (courtesy Palak).

Says our source, "Shweta is being a total delicate darling. She is not at all adjusting to the circumstances, and is found cribbing all the time!! And when she was offered radish and peppers she complained about the absence of salt in her food. She started murmuring that even after making the contestants do all the difficult tasks, not even a pinch of salt is being offered to them."

Seems like Shweta is attracting a lot of negative vibes from her fellow contestants even without any fault of hers. Says the source, "Aman Verma's favoritism for Shweta is definitely not being taken in a good way by the co-contestants. Even though their closeness is not a threat to the contestants' strengths, it is definitely something that they envy. But the sad part is that the brunt of this is being borne by Shweta and not Aman."

Will Shweta give in to the physical as well as mental stress? Or will she survive it all?

To know catch Iss Jungle Se Mujhe Bachao from Monday to Thursday at 10.00 pm & Fridays at 9.00 pm only on Sony Entertainment Television.

Shweta Tiwari woes with saltless food

Wednesday, July 15, 2009, 15:53 [IST]

Just one day in the jungle and Shweta Tiwari is on the verge of calling it quits from Iss Jungle Se Mujhe Bachao. Reason being ' No salt was provided for food. She was heard complaining "What is the motivation to do these tasks if there is no salt provided for my food. Why are they giving us' pepper and radish, who is going to eat them?"

The otherwise calm and pretty maiden was so furious that she refused to budge and was screaming aloud at the cameras' only to be heard by the jungle. Well only time and TV will tell' if she gets her namak. But what's the point of fretting and fuming in the jungle where even the resident animal families have to toil for everything.

Iss Jungle Se Mujhe Bachao
is witnessing all the wrong kind of drama. First, a transformer burst in the Malaysian forest where the show is being shot, nearly killing some crew members, and then a team boat capsized, sparking off talk that the project is jinxed.

Some crew members believe that these incidents have occurred because of the presence of evil spirits and are reportedly going to hold an elaborate puja to ward them off. A source says, "There are over 300 people from 13 different countries associated with the project, and the jungle is not treating them well. One day, a wild boar chased the production guys and, another time, we spotted a python relaxing outside one of our executive's rooms. Then there was a huge transformer blast with fire, smoke and sparks." A crew member says, "The part of the forest that is being used for the show is an ancient Aboriginal graveyard. It is very scary and we are planning a puja to get rid of the bad spirits."

Danish Khan, marketing head of Sony Entertainment Television, says, "There is a lot of money riding on the sets there, so we can't stop the shoot. Most of the crew has been hired from outside, and they are not panicking about any evil spirits. Shooting will go on."

Akashh plays the jungle king!
17 July 2009 | 2:36am

The bossy attitude of Akashh in Iss Jungle is now the next sensational topic to discuss on, in the Sony show..

Akashh Deep Sehgal who has bagged the title of the 'Bad Man' of television, courtesy his vampish roles, has now donned the cap of a self appointed leader among his jungle mates on Sony's Iss Jungle Se Mujhe Bachao.

According to our source, "The guy seems to be getting overboard with his dictatorial attitude on the show, which seems to be getting on everyone's nerves. In one instance, we see him as the very good boy trying to mingle with all his team mates, but the next moment he is seen giving advises and direction to all!! Well, his argument with Fiza and his recent interference with the reticent Chetan, and not to foget, his squabble with Palak are examples indeed..".

Well, it is true that the king has it in him to call the shots in the jungle, but he shouls also understand the likes and dislikes of his team members.

If oyu are a born leader, you should know to lead your troupe kindly!!

Stay tuned to Iss Jungle Se Mujhe Bachao Monday – Thursday @ 10.00 pm & Friday @ 9.00 pm only on Sony Entertainment Television.

"Palak has no right to criticize anyone"- Ishq Bector
20 July 2009 | 10:57pm

One of the contributors to the indi-hiphop genre, Ishq Bector, talks about Mona, Palak and his wickedly short stint in Iss Jungle…
Ishq Bector, rose to fame with his first indi-hiphop song Aye Hip Hopper. This was followed by the fairly popular Daaku Daddy. Just when we though he had faded into oblivion he showed up in the jungles of Malaysia on Sony Entertainment Television's Iss Jungle Se Mujhe Bachao. But sadly his stint was quite short-lived. Read on for more of Ishq…

Tell us about your experience in Iss Jungle.

I had a wonderful time. It was a chance of a lifetime to go back to the basics. You know, how our ancestors lived in the jungle, cooking your food on a bonfire, living in a small community and struggling to survive.

You got eliminated so early. Even the tasks that you completed did not get aired.

Yes, you are right that I got eliminated even before the task I had completed, that too with all ten stars, did not even get aired. I'm from Canada and I'm here in India to try to make a living, a career and just in a span of three days I was expected to impress the audience. To top it all I had to compete with people like Aakash, Chetan and Shweta who already have such a huge fan base. I'm a rising star, I'm on my way up… so I'm just feeling a little regret that even before people could get to know me properly and maybe get to like me, I got eliminated.

Your views about Palak and Fiza.

Well, what can I say? Palak is still a small kid. She's innocent and all she knows is that she's got to get famous anyhow. And she is trying to get famous by creating controversies. You have to accept the fact that if you don't have talent enough then you need to catch hold of something else to climb up the ladder of fame.

You were the complete opposite of Palak and Fiza. You were calm, composed and basically spreading love in the jungle. Still you got eliminated so soon…

You know controversies have the power to attract public. It stimulates them to get more engrossed in the show. But I think there will be a point when they will get tired of all the catfights and controversies. Then they will get attracted to the bonding that's happening between other contestants of the show. I mean eventually love will win over war.

What would you like to tell us about your camaraderie with Mona?

Mona and I are very alike. She is like the female me. There was a very special bond developing between us. This is one of the reasons why I feel I should have gotten more time in the jungle. Then I'm sure I would have developed even a stronger bond between the both of us.

Among the male contenders who would you call you good friend?

All of us males were like a band of brothers. That's because our work ethics were the same. We never used to think before doing work. The minute we were assigned we used to get on with our chores. The same mentality was displayed when someone needed our help. The brotherhood was that strong! And that is why I wish I could go back to the jungle. I'm sooo wishing for a wild card entry.

According to you who should win this show?

I'll give you my list of people who should make it to the top three. That's Akash, Mona and me, if you let me back.

Palak has commented a lot on Shweta's dressings too…

I think Palak has no right to criticize anybody's personal choice on dresses or anything else for that matter. Shweta is a gem of a person. She was ready to do any work in the show. She is also very brave. Palak has to be asked ten times for any work but Shweta was never like that, one word and she was on to it. Shweta toh hamari desh ki bahu hai!

What would you like to tell your fans?

I would like to thank everyone who has voted for me. I hope that all your support gets me a wild card entry back in the jungle and I can entertain you in many more ways.

We wish all the luck to Ishq for his wildcard entry!

Aakashdeep gets nosy with Mona
21 July 2009 | 11:38pm

Aakashdeep Sehgal pokes his nose into co-contestant Mona Vasu's affairs in Sony Entertainment Television's reality show Iss Jungle Se Mujhe Bachao…
Aakashdeep Sehgal seems to be on an advising spree as he participates in Iss Jungle Se Mujhe Bachao, the reality show on Sony Entertainment Television.

Aakash had previously admitted on the show that he found Mona Vasu adorable. Just when we thought he could be added on the list of Mona's many admirers he has done something that totally votes him off the list. Says our source, "I don't know whether it was utter frankness or brashness on Aakash's part but he actually asked Mona to go in for rhinoplasty. To top it, he also told her to go in only after she has managed to make some good money!"

But it seems like Aakash was pretty unabashed by the whole scenario. Our source tells, "Aakash was pretty convinced he was doing the right thing. He went on to explain why he thought Mona should get the nose job done, because many people do it and he himself has seen that it has succeeded in making their noses look sleek."

Mona, being the sweet bubbly girl took it in good spirits but was vocal about never going in for any surgery. According to our source, "Mona quoted the examples of Bollywood actresses like Koena Mitra and Shilpa Shetty as her reason for not going in for surgery. She also said that she did not find much of a difference after their nose-job in their careers."

Well said Mona!

Shewta's Bra and Chaddis spice up Iss Jungle

"Itni itni Bra aur itni itni Chaddiyan pehenke dance karaa hai issney" Screams Palak on National television, apparently Palak is giving this gyan on our favorite desh ki bahu Shewta Tiwari. This totally unwarranted attack on Shewta came from fellow contestant Palak of the MTV Roadies fame on the reality show, Iss Jungle Se Mujhe Bachcao.

Totally unplugged from civilization and in the midst of Malaysian jungles the contestants resort to backbiting. Palak, it seems has taken a strong dislike to Shewta Tiwari and pulled out dirty 'DATA' on Shewta Tiwari on National TV.

Palak who was earlier reported to be upset on not being able to wear revealing clothes took a dig at 'Desh ki Bahu' Shweta Tiwari. Palak was caught gossiping with fellow contestant Fiza, that Shweta Tiwari who is doing 'nakhras' in wearing revealing clothes is actually a hypocrite as Shweta has worn much lesser in her Bhojpuri Films.

To quote Palak directly "Abhi desh ki bahu ban rahi hai yahan par. Kyonki log Bhojpuri movies is not on a National level. Bhojpuri movies mein kya ussne kapdey pehne hain Girr jayegi dekhke. Itni itni Bra aur itni itni Chaddiyan pehenke dance karaa hai issney. Poora DATA nikal jaayegaa"

(She is pretending to act like a shy bride; behaving all classy and sober here. Cause people don't watch Bhojpuri films; those films don't have a national audience. Oh What clothes she is wearing there You will fall down in shock She is wearing these itsy-bitsy bras and panties and dancing in them Her whole DATA will be exposed)

Looks like Palak is still suffering MTV Roadies hangover, as she leaves no stone unturned to bring down her opponent by pulling out the dirtiest trick in the book. Our homegrown trash TV princess Palak is giving the original trash talker Rakhi Sawant a run for her money. Good for you girl looks like before packing up for Malaysia somebody did their homework on dirt digging thoroughly.
