Gauri felt a chilling dread wash over her and she immediately broke into cold sweat. Leaning against the cold tiles of her bathroom, she sat down, not caring about the wet floor. In her henna-decorated hands, which was the darkest shade that could be, she held the tiny stick and trembled. She closed her eyes, not knowing what to do. She was getting engaged tomorrow and getting married in a week. Two big, fat, pink lines on it. Pregnancy: Positive.
"I need to tell him!" she whispered to herself, now staring at the result of the test. Picking up her phone, she dialled his number, only to know that his phone was switched off. She looked at the phone in panic, "Please pick up the phone, please, Omkara..." she said as she leaned against the wall, redialling the number. She had to stop the engagement, come what may.
