People get offended by Harneet/Gul and Co. because we actually pay to watch those shows on TV. We actually pay money to watch our favourites, and when we dont get our money's worth, there is every right, as a customer, to get mad at the one who is shaping up such ridiculous stories on our TV screens, and wasting our time and emotions invested in a show.
FF writers DO NOT SELL their creativity. We write because we love to write. Readers read it because they love to read a story that they may never get to watch. FF writers dont earn money for their creativity like the writers whi work for a TV show. And just because a few FF writers wish to write something out of the box that offends some sensitive hearts, then they should stop reading it right away. As someone who does not earn money for her/his work, no one can ask for a justification of a character portrayed in his/her story. Asking for a disclaimer over an FF, which is a fiction on fictional characters, so that it doesn't hurt a few sentiments is just being childish. Dont like it, dont read it. Simple.
I hope this post was clear to answer your doubt about why people get offended with Harneet.
