PART SEVEN

She heard somebody on the gate. She went to open it "you she was shocked to see him. "Yes; me. Were you expecting someone? he asked. "No, sir no one. But why are you here? she asked. "Actually you see there is raining outside and my car suddenly decided to shut itself down, so can I please get a shelter here? he pleaded. "But sir, the house is small and I don't think you would be comfortable she anyhow tried to brush off. "Ah, no worries... at least it is better to stay under a roof rather then get drenched he said declining her. "Okay, sir come in she said sighing; not able to do anything.

I knew you will not deny Gauri... you will not leave any person helpless and alone and I trust you on that... I just want to know the reason of this strange and cold behaviour. I want to know the reason you are ignoring me fron the time we returned. I know it is something that has changed you, like this... I know no body except you can tell me the reason... and I will take that out

"Sir, would you like to have something? she asked. "Ah... some water please he replied. "Okay sir, please have a seat she went inside the kitchen. He sat on the sofa seat placed in on the entrance of the living room and started exploring the place. Though there was no electricity due to rains, still the place was beautifully lighted up with fire lamps and candles giving a clear view of everything around. The place seemed so lively that anybody could automatically gain energy entering it. There were no puzzles in this house as there were in his. Just as one enters, he would get a perfect idea of where the kitchen or bedrooms were.

"Sir, water she offered him the glass. "Oh yes thank you he took the glass and started drinking; sip by sip; finding a way to start the conversation. "Well, I must say, you have a nice house he complimented. "Thank you sir she said forcing a smile. Even though the place was a bit dark, her face was clearly visible. He could easily see her red eyes swollen as if she has been crying since long. The deep dark circles gave the proof that she was really tired.

"Gauri, I think the rain will not stop in anytime soon... so can I stay here for a night... I will leave tomorrow he asked hesitating. "But sir, you can easily call a car and go. I think the drivers the there at their job she clearly wanted him to leave as soon as possible. "So, you want to throw me out... but politely huh he asked raising a bow. "No, sir I just thought that Shakti sir and Ma'am would be worried for you she said in a low voice. "Well then I think I am big enough to take care of myself and I don't think they will be worried for me now he wanted to stay, no matter what happens. He wanted to be here for her at least today... he wanted answers but he did not wanted to force her to anything.

"Okay... if you want me to leave then I should be leaving he said walking slowly towards the door with a fake sadness on his face. "Sir, you can stay here... I-I don't have any problem she said sighing. "You're sure right? he asked smirking. "Yes, I am sure she answered.

"Sir, anything else you would like? she enquired. "Is it a hotel or something? "Excuse me she said knitting her eyebrows. "Yeah... I mean the way you are treating me is like it is a hotel and you are the manager he shrugged. She laughed at his sentence, and he was simply standing feeling proud of himself that finally he was able to make his girl laugh... his girl... the sound of it was like a sweet song to his ears.

"So, where should I sleep he asked her making her laughter die. "Oh yes, please follow me sir she said. "Okay, if I am getting a room service treatment here than it would be better that I leave he said in a little louder tone, trying to portray anger.I am sorry sir she murmured. "I told you to not to call me sir, didn't I? he moved closer. "But that was for just a day... We were trying to get comfortable and there was only you I knew there so there was no option she stepped back trying not to met his eyes.

"Look I know that the stunt I performed today in the office was not at all acceptable and I am... I am sorry for that he said in a softer tone. His face looked apologetic and sad, but he knew she would easily forgive him. "Sir, I think we should rest... It's already late she tried to move but suddenly someone held her by her waist, and she knew it was him.

"I am sorry... I really am; I know I should not have crossed my limits but I can't help it. I was frustrated because you were not at all answering my questions. You were not at all responding Gauri and you know that he whispered. "Sir, I think we should sleep; you can sleep in the next room she said removing his hands from him.

He walked towards the second room with Gauri leading the way. He noticed that the room was more of a kid's room; it had pictures if Gauri and a small child hung above the bedpost, but the bed was big enough for a man to sleep. Gauri started cleaning up the room, putting all the toys away and putting a new bed sheet pulled out from the closet.

"Gauri, who is this boy? he asked praying not to get an expected answer. "Oh, he is my nephew, Parth she said walking towards the door. "But, I thought, you don't have a family he said. "You are right, I don't have a family. All I have is him she said picking Parth's picture frame from the side table, caressing it with her hands. "So, where is this little boy now? he asked. "In the hospital, he met with an accident she told him without thinking what she was doing.

"You must have informed us Gauri. You know I would have helped you he came to her with a concerning face. "I don't need your help. I can do it myself she did not wanted to answer him now anyhow... She just needed silence. "Okay, no problem. But I am there always. Just a call and I will be standing by your side always he said in a firm assuring tone.

"I don't need any help sir. I have always done things by myself and I know I have to do it myself forever. I don't keep expectations sir; because expectations are meant for people who have someone by their side and I know I am and will be alone forever she said in a cracked voice. "Gauri, I know that you are an independent woman and you like to do things by yourself, but at some point you will also need a partner he said. "Good night sir she wished and went to her bedroom leaving him alone.

"Please leave me Kaali... I beg you please leave me he heard someone crying. "Don't do this... please... I will never do this again... I will not tell anything to sir... please let me go... please she was shouting on the peak of her voice. Omkara rushed towards her room only to find her shouting and requesting to leave her.

"Gauri... get up... there is no one... get up... he jerked her and tried to wake her up. She woke up and hugged him sobbing in his chest "Save me... he will take me with him... please don't let me go. "Shhh... calm down... I am not letting you so anywhere... Nobody can take you away... I am here... shhh silent he said rubbing her back with his warm hands; soothing and comforting her.

After he laid her back to the bed he got up to leave "please don't go, I request you... Stay here she said holding his hands. He smiled and got into the bed wrapping his arms around her; pulling her more close to his warmth. Gauri placed her head in his shoulders and drifted off to the most peaceful slumber she ever had... near his warm chest.
