Part 1
'Puttar maine tujhse poocha tha ki kya tu Gauri se pyaar karta hai aur tune na bola tha,' (Son I had asked you if you loved Gauri and you said no) Dadi touched Om's cheek. 'Kya tu Gauri ko chahne laga hai?' (Have you started to like her?) Om stayed mum. He wasn't sure what he felt for Gauri. He was just in the middle of figuring this out when the marriage news was sprung on him. 'To uska bhi khush rehne ka haq banta hai na?' (Then she deserves to be happy too) Saying this Dadi left for her room. 'Kya main Gauri ko chahne laga hoon?' (Have I started liking Gauri?) Om wondered.
Om and the Oberoi women sans Pinky, who was away on a pilgrimage with Shakti, were eating lunch. Today was Indian day and everyone was relishing Anika's aloo puri. 'Gauri kya tum sure ho ki tumhe apni shaadi main sirf ghar wale chahiye?' (Gauri are you sure that you only want the family at your wedding?) Jhanvi asked, turning towards Gauri. 'Haan Gauri maine to socha tha shaadi main Hrithik Roshan ko bulayenge, par tune mere saare plans ki tie tie phish kar di,' (Gauri I thought We would invite Hrithik Roshan to the wedding but you but a damper on my plans) Anika spoke animatedly. 'Haan hum sure hai. Hamara is duniya main koi nahi. Aap log hi hamare parivar hai. Aap log hamare liye itna kuch kar rahe hai, yaha tak ki humaari shaadi bhi isi ghar se ho rahi hai. Hume aur kuch nahi chahiye,' (Yes I'm sure. I have no one in this world. You are my family. You are doing so much for me. I'm even getting married from this house.) Gauri said, tears welled up in her eyes at the generosity of this family, who she proudly called her own now. The ladies hurried to hug her and Anika even cracked jokes to make her smile again. Unable to take it anymore, Om left the table silently.
Gauri was always the last to leave the kitchen since she wanted to make sure everything was spick and span and today was no different. Satisfied everything was put away properly, Gauri left for her room. She had just made it past the first two steps when she heard Om call out to her. She closed her eyes for a second to compose herself and turned towards him.
'Jab se tum is ghar main wapis aayi ho, hume baat karne ka mauka nahi mila,' (Ever since you've returned to the house, we haven't had a chance to talk) Om said in a quiet voice. 'Woh hum shaadi ki tayarion main vyast the,' (Actually I was busy with the wedding preparations) Gauri answered, trying to sound casual. Something snapped in Om at the mention of the wedding. His eyes that were gentle a minute ago turned into something Gauri had seen many times during their short time together.
'Shaadi,' (Marriage) Om smirked. 'Cut the crap. Mujhe pata hai tum koi shaadi nahi kar rahi ho. Ye sirf is ghar main wapis aane ka tumhara bahana hai.' (I know there is no wedding. This is just an excuse for you to come back into this house) Gauri took a deep breath. Sure his words hurt her but today she wouldn't give him the satisfaction of hurting her. 'Aapko jo samajna hai, samaj lijiye. Hum aapse koi behes nahi karna chahte hai?' (You can think whatever you want. I don't want to argue with you) Gauri turned to leave but was stopped by Om by holding her wrist and turning her around.
'Agar ye baat hai to tumhe apne mangetar ko phone lagane main koi problem nahi hogi,' (If that's the case then you will have no problem calling your fianc) Om came dangerously close to her. Gauri's eyes widened. 'Hamare phone ki battery dead hai.' Gauri fumbled with her dupatta. (My battery is dead.) 'Jaanta tha. Tumhe sirf jooth bolna aata hai. Jab koi mangetar hai hi nahi to call kisse karogi' (I knew it. You only know how to lie. If there isn't a fiance then who will you ring) Om's voice grew louder.
'Ye kya ho raha hai yaha?' (What's happening here?' Shivaay's voice roared from the foyer. Om distanced himself from Gauri. 'Kuch nahi Shivaay. Maine Gauri se kaha ki apne fianc ko phone lagaye lekin iske phone ki battery dead hai,' (Nothing Shivaay. I asked Gauri to call her fianc but her battery is dead) Om said in a sarcastic tone.
Shivaay looked at Gauri for an explanation. 'Woh bade bhaiya hum...' (Bade Bhaiya I...)Gauri fumbled with her words. 'Gauri agar tum kuch chupa nahi rahi ho to tumhe usse mere phone se call karne main koi dikkat nahi hogi,' (Gauri if you have nothing to hide then you will have no problem calling him from my phone) Shivaay offered his phone to Gauri, who took it with trembling hands.
