I think their win is so satisfying to the fandom because these two are such oddball representation of a generic daily soap trope of AYM lead and effervescent FL. I don't think anybody initially believed that Annika would be able to make her mark coz she, according to many, fell outside the petite & milky white damsel characterization the Indian audience is used to. And then she is paired up with an 'average' height, skinny, uber-fair hero. I remember certain section of IB viewers here mock these two continuously for their physical 'lack'. And it is commendable that these two made this negative commentary a part of their onscreen characterization. They are the most imperfect and unconventional looking pair on Indian tv right now but their acting prowess and camaraderie is such that you can't fathom NM as Shivaay if SC as Annika is replaced.

I have no qualms to admit that Annika is my favourite character of IB...It took me a lot of time to warm up to Shivaay. And 'Shivika' as a ship officially tanked for me during the forced wedding. My first post on IB was how these two are gonna get married. There I wrote an essay on how Shivaay was gonna save Annika from Daksh's clutches and out came the care chase and the 'boom scene'! i was so pissed but couldn't resist watching in morbid fascination as one does during a trainwreck. I thought this can never be salvaged and here we are 400 episodes later still awwing over their journey from 'michmichi' in other's company to them rolling around in paint to the tune of Laal Ishq!

I am not a regular watcher of daily soaps nor am I a big fan of Indian programming. It is quite surprising to me that these two have managed to sustain my interest for this long. Hope they keep winning more awards and give us many more moments to facepalm or awww over!😊

To add to the "imperfect" point...but that's what I love about them...perfection is so over-rated and frankly a mirage...we are all imperfect in one way or the other...what makes these two special is the way they've played their "unconventionality" with SO much conviction...they've created something of such SUSTAINED beauty out of all that "unconventionality"...if I had to use an analogy, it's like the difference b/w attraction and love...attraction is a spark in the spur of the moment that can fizzle out...many pairs attract fans because of their conventional looks in terms of visual appeal...love is something deeper and lasting...it is not dependent on a momentary visual spark...it's roots run deep...with these two, it's been so beyond the superficial in every way...they are both good looking people IMO albeit in an "unconventional" way...but to me, the attachment has formed not out of how they VISUALLY look together, rather it's from the other more lasting things that you can't spin...like their effortless banter, the ability to play off each other in every situation...from the comic to the romantic to the serious...the sheer SINCERITY with which they do ANYTHING...the CONVICTION they pour into the words they mouth...the way that shines through...and then the fact that they are so gracious and humble in terms of how they present themselves...it's a complete package :)

@blue: +1000000 on their humility and the genuine grace in their speeches...as you said, those aren't mere platitudes...they are truly grateful for all the appreciation and it shows...and it gives you a window into what has brought brand Shivika and brand IB so far...these two have a solid head on their shoulders and know how to carry the responsibility of this show correctly while receiving everything with grace and never undercutting anyone to raise themselves up...all the more power to them for that👏👏

Their bonding as shivika is beyond all these things as you said,it is more like soul to soul connection,they were drawn to each other not because of looks,they were connected to each with their bantering,their interactions in day to day like for example in that scene where He first time nicely acted with her in the after first car scene when he said"hey wait I will drop you upto your home ..she denying his help..he taking her hand and when first time she felt something touched by his gesture which was very visible on her face( ofcourse Kudos to SC expressions there).I mean these small interactions,He slowly mesmerising by her sweetness , getting amazed and fell for her when she admits infront of all that he spent a night with her by holding his hand when that ACP interrogation(amazing expression by NM there when anika holds his hand),I mean there were so many incidents,interactions,bantering,etc.,where they immensely drawn to each other ,it is all beyond their physical appearance for them😳.
