So, I was out of town last week and the show is insane now. We got 6 weeks of material in a week, but I'm not complaining because I hated the drag.
The speed, tracks, and some scenes were just random 😆
Things I did enjoy this week.
Shivika: Acknowledgments, surprises, and confessions.
"Mere ghar mein, mere room mein, aur meri zindagi mein sirf aur sirf tumhara haq hai
Finally writers let Billu-ji acknowledge how insensitive he was after they forced this unnecessary Tanya track on us.
That little trip down memory lane to replace her traumatic childhood memories ... like seriously? SO. MANY. FEELS. I'm here for more thoughtful gestures like this. The confession was a bonus. It was sincere and direct. I liked it. Hopefully we'll be spared from 3rd angles for the time being.
Special mention to "I'm not that shy
Billu ji got game.
But those outfits, those hairstyles, and that makeup.
Some performances are beyond words, hideous styling, and bad editing
Operation save Gauri from that creeper: I was confused most of the time. Most of the setup for this track was left to our imagination. Why were they in disguises? It was weird, but it's cool because I got ShivKara and Aniru saving Gauri. Cue superhero formation!
Rikara: Poetry, fairy lights, and confessions.
I'll be honest, I' m not too happy with this track for so many reasons, but I wanted movement in their story and I got it with this confession. Now, that the confession is out of the way and they're on the same page I want to see them actually getting to know each other. After 7 months it would nice if the writers cared enough to give them a decent track. It would also be cool if we don't have to suffer through more dumb misunderstandings. *fingers crossed*
Again, those outfits and the makeup.
I wasn't a fan of the headlock either. It has less to do with them and more to do with spending an entire week being forced into headlocks by my 6-ft. tall cousin, who I hate. Headlocks are painful, not romantic.
Actors carried the scene despite the rush, painful looking headlocks, and bad editing.
Comedy, fluffy family moments, and Rudra: Anika's reaction to those aunties was epic. I was just at a wedding and some aunties are too much ... I feel you, Anika. I feel you.
Rudra's one liners and comedic timing
I missed Rudra. I'm not even joking. I don't watch his scenes so I never get to see him anymore, but the OBro and Aniru scenes reunited us. Such a sweet and innocent soul. Why was he counting the guests? Who knows, but I was legit proud of him too.
That talk and pillow fight. THE.OBRO. FEELS.
Anika's nightmares, old photos, and Chukti: Her nightmares are back again. I guess her frame of mind triggers her nightmares or that's what I'm going to assume to make sense of this. The pose in the pic was awkward, but mini Aniri (and the completely different little girl in the flashback) were adorable. Shivaay seeing the pic...ooohhh foreshadowing. We all knew it would be Gauri and Shivaay would reunite them, but I didn't expect them to reveal it so soon. Again, this opens up possibilities for new situations because I'm done with the same old wedding functions.
Annoying aunties, insecurities, and badly timed teasing: It's sad just how quickly she starts to question her happiness. I'm okay with this new development because you can't just expect her to forget everything because he said I love you. She always had a vulnerable side, which has less to do with Shivaay and more to do with her unresolved childhood trauma. I know he had to overhear the conversation so he could surprise her, but I would have preferred her sharing with him. I can only hope this buildup is leading to her being comfortable enough to share with him.
Puttar vs Anika Bebe.
The Bicker-O-Meter is off charts with these two. I thought the back and forth was funny until feelings got hurt. It was harmless teasing, but she wasn't in the mood. I do appreciate that even in a serious situation they can flirt, bicker, and brutally make fun of each other. To be fair, Anika digs at him and his Rockstar avatar were more savage. She didn't hold back where you could tell he was. Love made Shivaay soft old Shivaay would have been more shady. I want a rematch when Anika is back in her element 😆
Also, how cute is happy Shivaay? He is legit a ball of sunshine. While Anika is going to through a senior-crisis and he went back to being a child 😆 It's endearing how whenever everything is fine between him and Anika he is ridiculously happy for no reason.
I'm still not sure why Gauri is still going through with this wedding. I know it's for the pregnant friend, but where is she? Did I miss her or something?
Now, it's time to address the elephant in the editing room. I only like 2 out of the 3 couples, but I believe everyone should get equal SS. However, I'm not particularly fond of the random jumps between scenes in the name of equal SS. I would prefer each couple get their full scene uninterrupted because the editing ruins the flow of the show. Shivika confession cut to random family truth or dare game then cut to DDLJ track. Rikara confession put in between light-heartened comedy. It kills the whole vibe of the show. I'm over the weddings and these ridiculous functions. The writers need to think of something new because this isn't getting old. It is old now. It's not like the stylist even bothers to give them nice clothes so we can tolerate all these weddings. I'm okay with them going back to random NDE, gas explosions, or revisiting who killed Gayatri at this point.
