Wow Loved Reading The Different PoVs.
In my view, more than anything else why Anika was attracted to Shivaay was because perhaps HE was what SHE wanted to be!
A family to protect, being independent and successful , being caring, and last of all Wanting Someone To Love Like No One Could Ever!

Quite evident from the reflecting tracks and reboots, Anika and Shivaay are a reflection of each other. From the beginning, be it brothers or the thoughts about Love or being the TadiBaaz.

Anika has arrived to a state where her entire world revolves around Shivaay. "...koi aisa ho jiski poori duniya mere ird girg ghumme..." Shivaay never shows that to her, explicitly. But we all know, maybe she does too.

They say you must treat others as you want them to treat you. Perhaps that's what Anika still craved for and she got it when he said I love you. He is doing all the Paagalpan for him.

The only thing anika has craved for from her childhood is LoVe! And she gets that from Shivaay. This is it that she is happy and content with. She no longer feels the need to fight her battles, because he will fight it for her. But she wants to fight his battles, she doesn't want him to face everything all alone as he has been doing...

But there comes her insecurities, what of Shivaay loves her no longer? A glimpse that was shown. From the beginning it's Anika's insecurities and fears that are her weakness. It din't take much time for Anika to think that Shivaay will get over her love...and that's it, what you said, its because she isn't growing. She is still there.
While Shivaay has been growing and that's why she falls for him with his every gesture more deeply.

It's going to be Shivaay to make her realise that! He is going to kill her insecurities and she wouldn't know, until they are completely done away with. Just like Shivaay's NKK was gone gradually.

Beautiful Post Di! Thanks for making this thought provoking post🤗

I actually agree. My mom came up to me and she is like, Pa says I am going bald with the hairfall (of course he was kidding😆) and I laughed my heart out and went to pa later and told him and he is like that woman doesn't understand her self worth, and does nothing for herself.

The next day she was back to her routine yoga and walk🤣
My dad sure knows how to make Maa do things for herself🤣

This is not one sided Maa did that too. She told Pa he is getting old, the next day we had him come back from the salon looking all handsome and he is like, someone was saying something... We all go ROFL...

In short this keeps happening, every time one has to pull up the other they do this ...in any field for that matter😆

A big Anika wala Awww...this story of your parents is so sweet!🤗

And yeah i could totally relate to Anika's fear of aging. We all can. We all feel it at some point. It is one of our deepest, most primal fears...that time is passing us by and we can't keep up with it! I loved how they explored it in the show.

Saw SC ka byte about this and what she said made sense to me...how negative perceptions around us affect us eventually. Like how Anika didn't take Sita-Gita seriously at first but later their continuous bakbak gets to her...happens to all of us.

And u just provided examples here on how ur mom works on her insecurities on her own with a push by someone. Exactly the point anisa tried to make with her post but I guess it's getting lost somewhere when the focus is mostly on a couple - people don't look for a individual character growth in a story and that's acceptable as well

No one is saying Annika needs to change now because she is ASSO and an O'Bahu. Shivvay has accepted her the way she is and loves her for who she is - not inspite of who she is. This post , if I am not mistaken, is about the inner need for self-growth that all of us have inside us whether it is taking up a sport, a hobby, a way of life (yoga etc) or learning a new skill. All of us women do that - no matter we have the financial resources or not because to better ourselves is what we strive for always.

To be alive is movement - stagnation is death. Growing and learning is part of human nature. Need to improve ourselves and curiosity makes us do that.

<font color="#CC00CC">Exactly. Improving yourself is not a mark of being ashamed of who you are. All great and wise people have continually improved themselves and that is when they have attained wisdom. Common people like us emulate them don't we? Why? To improve what we already posses and make it even more perfect.
We do this for our satisfaction and for our well being most times not to make ourselves look better to others.

She is intelligent, resourceful and a fast learner. With the opportunity that lady fortune has provided her she should be (in reality) looking to keep her mind busy. A girl such as her in all honesty cannot be ok with being a 'Pinky' ... no offense

Of Course we know that this will never happen because IB will never focus so much on a FL ...lol
So Annika-entric tracks can be forgotten - they will never happen.

Bamm u hit all the points that I wanted to make but I guess I am not a writer so have miss steps here and there 😆

Exactly my point how is working on urself a bad thing and shows lack of confidence? Most confident people I know are a constant work in progress as individuals first than as partners at home or as team members at work otherwise what's the point of living. Heck you can't even get promoted at work if you are not constantly improving yourself and proving it to your bosses that u are

Being work in progress as an individual is needed before u are part of a couple doing the same. I guess it's diff ways of looking at things in diff cultures and def too much to expect from
Indian tv as yellowmellow and amri pointed out 😆

I think Annika's progress has been from someone who was completely independent to someone who loves another enough to give herself completely into his care. It may sound simplistic, but it's not an easy thing for someone who's only had themselves to count on.
That being said, I think I do understand your idea of improvement', though I see no reason for her to take cooking lessons. I do wish she had something to fall back on, a career, friends/family, a world outside of Shivaay and the Oberois. That she wouldn't be stuck in the mansion following him around like a puppy the next time he walks in with a new wife'. But then, I don't expect that kind of investment in her character from the CVs considering even Shivaay's never been to work on the show. It's not TRP friendly, I imagine.

I believe everyone of us is a work in progress, and nobody is perfect ! Anika too is the same. When you say " raised to be independent " isn't Anika also independent? Or only " working women " to be considered as independent? The only time Anika's independence was taken away was during the forced wedding track that too under an extreme situation, otherwise all the decision making in her life is done by her only and isn't that what independence means!

She is the one who successfully helped the Oberois to solve the fake suicide CD drama during the fokat raja track. She may not have the sophisticated use of the IPC codes for it , but it was observation skills and presence of mind that helped them. She was part of the elaborate plan of expose NB gang and she was the one who put her life at risk at various occasions and she has done it with finesse. Again no need to be an IPS officer ! Mahi track, the same she played her part so well. What's helping her in all this? her life experience , the things that she LEARNED along the way while dealing with people. Yes she is doing it for Shivaay's family which is by the way her family too !

Recent don track , it was Anika who managed to take the gun away from the don 😆 So she uses her strength and presence of mind in different ways than others , may not use the Internet to get ideas or have qualification as IPS, but things get done in her own unconventional way.

It's not true that she is not learning anything new, the way she stepped up to the occasion and managed to do the press conference during Shivaay's absence, it's that something that she observed and learned , may not be as obvious as she going for a course to learn it but still the learning process is there. Besides she promised to make Shivaay his favourite dish, so she is willing to learn 😉
For me her independence represents the way she told daadi " Daadi apko lagta hain mein sunne wali hoon ? " this is in response to Daadi's question of if she is following Billu to Goa while he said no! But she did 😆 Her decision and that is independence!
P.S The reference to other characters is only because that you have mentioned about them in your post as examples.

@Pearl
brilliantly put across...we are looking forward for MORE growth of character we truly love.thats it!nothing less, nothing more.

As a shivaay fan i want Anika to grow more, come out of her insecurities with shivaay right beside her( like in thr segmemts he is).Is it wrong to put fwd our thoughts, hell no😃.A lot of times I ponder whether we are being heard or not by the makers but who cares we are being heard by the universe and thats all that matters😳

@Annika
Thank you for acknowledging the same.means a lot.
again the credit goes to Anisa😊

This is just perfect Pearl.. Thank you for this..

I have mulled over this post for weeks now, because of the potential of it blowing up in my face. 😆.. I guess I decided this morning to say WTH and went on with it.

I felt the same way before marriage. Felt I put forward the best version of myself I could be given the circumstances. Then marriage happens and your "perfect ways" is faced with scrutiny by someone who has his own perfect ways and disagrees with yours. Not everyone mind, some just are lucky enough to go on being perfect all their adult lives.

Perspectives change in new phases of life and the current track highlights how Annika feels all those normal insecurities. Contrary to belief I actually get what she feels on screen right now. It's just that I challenged the makers to do the reciprocal for the other.

I don't want to talk about Gauri or Bhavya here because I've already been accused of bias due to my last para to HS. I maintain Annika is still my favourite FL and I still cheer her on.

You know Pearl, 75% of 145 ppl on my Twitter poll think she is perfect as she is and the rest think she should want to improve herself. It's interesting.
