Part 11
The wedding day had finally arrived and lots of last minute preparations were taking place. Everyone had woken up early and was moving around the house. Ram was out in the garden keeping an eye on the Khushi Events team; his employees; who were doing up last minute preparations in the tent; Daksh was also around helping here and there. All the aunties and neighbours were in the kitchen and living room going through last minute stuff.
Malika and Anika were upstairs in their room away from all the rush; Anika was in the bathroom and Malika was moving around doing her last minute packing. She had done most of it a week ago when Anika wasn't around, so that she won't be hurt but some packing was still left to do. She threw whatever was in her hand into the bag on her bed and went to her cupboard. She took out her wedding dress which was designed by Anika, took it out of the plastic casing and spread it out at the bottom of her bed. At the same time Anika had come out of the bathroom and was rushing around taking her clothes out of her cupboard.
Anika: Itna sara kham abhi bhi baki hain dii...aur aap waha apne dress dekh rahi hain...
Malika: Anika...it's so beautiful... - admiring the outfit
Anika stopped what she was doing, walked over to Malika and also admired the dress. It was a red straight cut skirt with full silver embroidery, sequins, beads and studs, the blouse also had the same designs on it as the skirt did but not as full, only around the neck and bottom of the blouse, the middle had only silver embroidery. The dupatta was fully embroidered and it all looked very beautiful. Both the ladies stood their admiring the outfit for a while then Malika went behind Anika, hugged her around the middle and rested her chin on Anika's shoulder.
Malika: Thank you Anika...
Anika: Dii...aap mujhe thanks kyon keh rahi ho?
Malika: For everything...
There was a little silence then Anika's tears began.
Anika: Dii...you won't forget me will you? - sadly
Malika: Kya? looking at her in shock - ...Main tumhe kaise bhool sakti...pagal hogaye hain kya? Tum toh hamesha mere saath hogi...mere yaadon main aur mere saath...
Anika: Par...
Malika: Par war kuch nahi...ab chalo...we need to get ready...baad main role na... smiling at her little sister
Anika: Okay dii... - smiling - ...lagta hain aap bohot jaldi main hain...apne saajan ke liye tayar hona hain...haina... - moves away quickly before Malika can hit her
KNOCK KNOCK
Malika: Come in...
They both looked at the door to see Riddhima and Preeti, another friend of Malika's. Preeti was a beautician and was here to do Malika and Anika's hair and makeup.
Malika: Hi... - she hugs both of them
Riddhima: Hey Malika...excited?
Malika: More like nervous...
Riddhima: Don't worry you'll be fine...exam dene nahi ja rahi hain...
Anika: Riddhima...this is worst than an exam...dii couldn't sleep all night...She was so nervous...
Riddhima: Aur aaj raat bhi nahi so payegi... teasing and Malika hit her on the arm
Malika: C'mon let's start... - looks at Preeti who begins to take out her makeup kit
The girls all got ready quickly, cracking jokes in between and teasing Malika. Then after a while Bhavya and Gauri arrived all dressed and ready to help to get Malika ready. Anika, Bhavya and Gauri went downstairs after a while to help around; they were setting up the conservatory with flowers and decorations and also setting a trap for the boys.
Gauri: Yeh zaroori hai kya? looks at Anika and Bhavya ...Agar yahan koi aur bet jaaye to?
Bhavya: No one else is going to sit here...everyone's going to be outside...
Gauri: But...
Anika: Gauri? topping and turning to her - ...Tum hamare saath hain yah nahi? Gauri nods ...Toh todhi dher ke liye bhool jao ke Omkara tumhara boyfriend hain...aur todha masti karo...
Gauri: Okay fine...let's just hope no one else sits here...
The three girls smiled wickedly at each other and finished off their job before they went into the kitchen to help set the mithai tray.
Around half twelve the barat arrived; they were seated outside in the tent. Siddharth looked very handsome in a white and silver sherwani and a red turban and Shivaay looked hot in a jet black sherwani with light silver embroidery on the front and an elegant large design on the back, white churidhar and a silver dupatta around his shoulders. They sat next to each other on the platform stage waiting eagerly for the girls to come down. Rudra and Omkara sat with the crowd also waiting for the girls.
Not making them wait for too long Malika was bought down the stairs by Anika and Saakshi; Gauri, Bhavya, Riddhima and Preeti followed. All the girls looked very stunning and all heads turned when Malika walked out into the garden and walked down the red carpet towards Siddharth. She was looking very beautiful in her red outfit, her makeup done immaculately and her jewellery sparkling from all directions. Siddharth couldn't take his eyes off of her as she came closer and closer to him. As she sat next to him, her eyes lowered in shyness Siddharth couldn't find any words to describe how she was looking so he smiled at her and just said hi.
In the mean time, for the very first time, Shivaay was actually speechless. His thoughts were...wow, amazing, am I dreaming? but even by thinking these words he couldn't bring them to his lips; he was actually dumbfounded. He stared at this angel like she was the only one around. She was wearing an ivory brocade trumpet skirt with a deep turquoise brocade corset/choli which had silver coloured embroidery and beads. Her two toned white and turquoise dupatta was twisted around her wrist and fell behind her back. She had very light silver necklace on and her silver jumka/earrings were jumping slightly by her neck as she walked and laughed and smiled and talked. Her hair was slightly curled and where bouncing around as she moved. Shivaay couldn't stop looking at her and was jumped out of his dreams as many people had started to talk all at once.
Gauri and Bhavya went to sit next to the boys; Shivaay who was still staring at Anika, also moved towards the gang. Anika made sure that Malika was comfortable, had a little chat with Siddharth before walking towards the gang. Omkara was still admiring Gauri while Rudra was finding it hard to believe that Bhavya can actually look good once in a while.
Anika: Hi guys...
Rudra: Hi Anika...you look really beautiful... smiles at Anika
Anika: Thanks...you guys are looking good too... - looking at all three guys
While they were in their conversation Shivaay had still not found his voice and continued looking at her. After a while when the rituals had been completed lunch was served and everyone's attention was on the delicious food. Anika made sure no one saw her as she slowly sneaked Siddharth's shoes away; she took them upstairs into her room and hid them in her cupboard. One person amongst the guest had noticed her absences; after all, his eyes were on her all day. He looked around for her downstairs but wasn't able to see her anywhere so he decided to go upstairs and look for her. It was all quiet upstairs as he looked into each room, when he came to the end of the corridor he heard someone in a silent conversation, he took a quick look around before he placed his ears closer to the door tried to figure out who it was...
?1: Please let me go...
?2: Just a minute...just listen to what I have to say...
?1: Not now...we'll speak later...ouch!
?2: I'm sorry...I just want to say that...you're looking soo sexy today...
?1: I need to go...
Shivaay decided to walk in as he thought that this conversation wasn't going anywhere and whoever was inside didn't feel right. He walked in to find Anika in Daksh's arms very close to him and looking very uncomfortable. They both looked at the door and Anika moved away from Daksh.
Daksh: What are you doing here? - furious
Shivaay: - also angry but ignores Daksh ...Aunty tumhe dhoond rahi hain... slowly to Anika
Without saying anything Anika walked out the room silently in her mind thanking Shivaay for coming at the right time. Shivaay looked at her while she walked past him then looked at Daksh who was very angry at Shivaay for intruding. Shivaay also left the room; in his minding he wanted to turn around and punch Daksh in his face.
Downstairs, Siddharth and Malika were sitting down having their lunch; Siddharth was feeding Malika very sweetly. On the same table were Shivaay and Anika who are both sneaking looks at each other while eating. The gang sat close by enjoying their food and having lots of fun. After lunch there were songs and dances which everyone enjoyed lots. The whole family took part, from bride and groom to elders and little kids, all the guests, workers to waiters and of course the whole gang. After the dance the gang had come inside to relax as they were all worn out. They walked into the conservatory chatting excitedly and Bhavya silently winked at Anika. They both quickly sat down on one chair together and Gauri on another. This left a two seater sofa empty for the boys to squash on; but they decided not to sit, instead Shivaay and Rudra sat on the window ledge of the conservatory and Omkara remained standing by the door.
Anika: Why are you guys standing up...sit down...
Shivaay smiled at her noticing her concern.
Rudra: It's okay...I'm really hot...I need the air... looking through the window
Anika hinted to Gauri to say something because she knew that if Bhavya or she said anything the boys would catch on. Gauri nodded and looked at Omkara.
Gauri: Guys beto na...we left space so that you guys can sit...and you're not even sitting... smiles sweetly at Omkara
Omkara: Okay...come guys let's sit...
Shivaay: Okay fine...
All three boys sat at once on the sofa and there was a loud rude noise. Other guests who were standing around just looked at them in shock and moved away whispering and giggling. The girls started laughing madly at them as they quickly got up and looked at the sofa that they had just sat on with a bemused expression on their faces. They looked at the girls who couldn't stop laughing.
Rudra: I don't believe this... - fully embarassed
Shivaay: How could you guys do this? - shocked
Omkara: This is soo embarrassing! Gauri?
Gauri stopped laughing and looked at him guiltily. Anika, who was still laughing, went towards the sofa and picked up the throw over to reveal three whoopee cushions.
Shivaay: We'll get you for this... as the three girls run around them and outside
Anika ran straight to Siddharth and Malika, still laughing, while Shivaay chased her.
Malika: What are you guys doing?
Shivaay: Bhabi...isne...main chorunga nahi tumhe... to Anika
Anika: Catch me first dumbo... - sticks her tongue out at him
Siddharth: Guys stop it...
They both calmed down; Anika stood on Malika's side and Shivaay on Siddharth's side.
Siddharth: Shivaay...mere jute kahan hain?
Shivaay: Mujhe kya pata? - confused
Siddharth: Go and find them... ordering him
Shivaay: Why should I? Where am I going to find it...itne sare log hain yahan pe...
Siddharth: Okay... - looks at Anika ...whoever finds it and brings it to me will get a prize...
Anika: I'll find it... - smiling widly
Shivaay: Not before me you won't...
And they began to squabble while going inside; on the way they meet up with the other four. The boys started to look around the rooms while the girls went straight upstairs into Anika's room. Shivaay noticed that the girls were missing and went to find them. As he walked up the stairs he saw the girls coming downstairs with the shoes in Anika's hand. The girls were giggling and chatting away when Shivaay quickly ran up to Anika and snatched them out of her hands and ran into her room. She ran after him leaving Gauri and Bhavya to handle Omkara and Rudra who were just about to come up the stairs. Shivaay and Anika were running around the room; Shivaay teased Anika because he had the shoes.
Anika: Give it to me...I had them first... - angrily
Shivaay: You mean...you hid them... - teasing
Anika: Just give them to me...
Shivaay: Never! - runs out of the room
Anika had given up and sat down on her bed a little upset; she closed her eyes and felt really angry that she had lost this one. After a few moments she decided that she would go downstairs; she opened her eyes; right in front of her eyes was the shoes. They were being nicely presented to her in someone's hands; she looked up and saw Shivaay smiling down at her, she wondered if this was some kind of joke and she just looked at him.
Shivaay: Take it... - sweetly
Anika: Kya kiya tumne iske saath? - suspiciously
Shivaay: laughs ...Kuch nahi...just take them... still presenting them nicely in his hands - ...I'm not as bad as you think I am...
Anika: - looks down with a little guilt in heart, then looks up again - ...Kyon? Don't you want the prize?
Shivaay kneeled down onto one knee and held out the shoes to her. He was very close to her and once again that feeling came back to Anika; her face softened and she felt as if her heart was melting at his sweet actions.
Shivaay: Take it...
Anika: Kyon?
Shivaay: Kyon ki...I can't see you cry... - whispers
Anika was touched by this comment and slowly took the shoes from his hands. They both stood up and looked at each other and they became lost in the moment; Shivaay broke the silence after a while.
Shivaay: Waise bhi...tum baad main toh rone wali hai na...so if I make you cry now...you won't have any tears left for later... - moves back as Anika goes to hit him, he winks and leaves the room
Unknown to both of them this cute scene had been witnessed by someone who stood just outside of the room who also had his eyes on Anika all day. He smashed his hand on the wall and walked away angrily.
Anika was left standing there amazed; she had never seen this side of Shivaay before. It was like he was actually human after all; she smiled at that thought and stopped to think about all the moments they had today. She had noticed him staring at her many times and she wondered why; she did think he looked quite nice today and his behavior towards her was very weird. She thought back to when he had walked through the door when she was with Daksh and how she was very happy to see him there; but she was pulled out of her thoughts as Malika and the other girls had come into the room. It was almost time for Malika to leave; Anika, who didn't want this time to come so quick had made an excuse and went downstairs to give Siddharth his shoes.
As she slipped the shoes onto Siddharth's feet she smiled with watery eyes she could sense Shivaay smiling at her once again; she looked at him and he had given her thumbs up sign. She had taken her prize money and gave it to the girls who would look after it for now and she went back upstairs to Malika. When she walked in Preeti was touching up Malika's make up and Riddhima had gathered Malika's bag and belongings together. Anika walked over to Malika and just looked at her through the mirror. Preeti moved away to give them some time and went to help Riddhima. Malika's eyes are all watery as she looked at Anika; she touched Anika's hands which were on her shoulder.
Anika: Dii... - teary voice ...if you cry...I won't come to meet you tomorrow...
Malika started to cry immediately and both hugged; it was a very touching moment. After a while they both grabbed hold of themselves and Malika wiped the tears from Anika's cheek. They hugged each other and talked quietly, making promises and giving advice to each other. After a while they both smiled and stood up, at the same time Saakshi and Ram both came in together. Both hugged Malika one at a time and tried to console each other; after lots of tears from Saakshi and Malika it was time to go down. Preeti had touched up Malika's makeup one more time and they all walked down the stairs. As they walked outside Anika noticed Siddharth and Shivaay standing together looking both concerned and happy at once. Malika gave a quick hug to her friends and a long hug to Ram and Saakshi once more; then Malika and Anika hugged for a very long time. Pinky and Saakshi came to both girls to comfort them.
Pinky: Anika beta...jab bhi apni dii se milne ka maan kare...toh ajao...tum bhi toh hamare beti jaisi hain...
Anika and Malika both controlled themselves and Anika wiped away the tears from Malika's cheeks.
Anika: Ab rona baand karo warna make up karab ho jayegi... - both smile
Anika walked Malika to where Siddharth was standing and placed Malika's hand into Siddharth's.
Anika: Please look after my dii...
Siddharth: Don't worry...I'll take good care of her...
Shivaay was once again unable to look anywhere else but at Anika. She looked soo beautiful with all the lights shining on her, but for some reason he felt really hurt watching her cry like this. The Oberoi family left and so did the guests; the gang hung around for a while just to be there for Anika then they also left.
Anika went to her room and sat at the edge of her bed; she wiped away a tear and remembered something that Malika had said to her.
Anika: No more tears Anika...dii ke liye... - she smiles and gets ready for bed
