Shivaay sat at the bar hoping that the burning liquid would soothe his broken heart. His eyes were red with the tears he had tried so hard to contain. His mind reeled with the string of occurrences that had taken place 2 hours earlier.
A day before, Anika had accidently got drunk she wanted to tell him something but she couldn't complete it. She had cuddled onto him hugging him tight and slept. But in the morning she had become a completely different person. She had gone causing problems and talked about partition. He had felt that something was amiss something was bugging her but couldn't find what it could be. His anger had got better of him when she went on to target his brothers and he had lashed out at her mercilessly.
"Leave..I don't want to see your face ever, you filthy gold digger"
He gulped down a little more of the hot liquid. He has seen how she had flinched at that, a layer of tears forming in her cocoa browns. But she had contained them and wore up a mask.
"I thought you had changed but you never will, you are the very same Shivaay Singh Oberoi".
She had left.
Shivaay rose from his chair feeling a little tipsy, he walked towards his room, their room. He didn't want to go in there, he would die. It was full of her, the memories would definitely strangle him.
"Shivaay" he turned to see Om, his brother. Shivaay feared that his mask would wear off under his intense gaze".
"Shivaay bhabhi.." Om started, only to be cut off by Shivaay.
"Om muje neend arey, ham kal baat karte hai".
Omkara stared at his brother's retreating figure, he looked broken. He felt the urge to go and confront his brother but decided against it. "Shivaay needs rest" he thought.
He couldn't understand what Anika wanted, it wasn't her. He trusted her as much as he trusted his brother. Shivaay was their wall and Anika his.
"O, apko pata hai kya, ki bhabhi aise kyun kiya?" Rudra's question disrupted Om's fleeting thoughts.
"Pata nahi Rudy, par woh jo kuch bhi kiya Shivaay ke liye hi kiya hoga"
"Mujhe bhi aise lagte hai" Rudra said as he moved towards Shivaay's room.
"Nahi Rudra, usse soney dete, usse rest ki zaroorat hai". Om stopped his younger one.
"Kya apko lagta hai ki bhaiya sambalpavungi kudko, woh abh sso nahi rahe. Woh Anika bhabhi ki Shivaay ban gaya da".
Om ruffled Rudy's hair and pulled him with him. His brother had voiced his own fears. He wished that Shivaay finds the courage to go through it.
...
Shivaay stood stunned at the entrance of their room. It had been just 2 hours since she had left but the room left no trace of her. The extra furniture that he had sneaked in just to suit her taste was missing. The new colours he had slowly brought in just to make her feel it was hers too had went missing. He had done it all without making it evident as she had complained that the room had no taste of hers.
Shivaay shouted loudly for the staff.
"Mera kamre mai ye sabh bina puche kon kiya" he seethed making the maid tremble with fear.
"Sir, Annika madam.." Shivaay's face fell at the mention of her name.
"Sir Anika Madam ne kaha tha, pehle ki, apke kamre pehle jaise banane"
Shivaay stood unable to comprehend anything.
"Anika ne? Kab kaha".
"Subah, madam ne kaha ki 6 baje tak sab kuch set karna da. Aur sir, madam ne bas unke liye huve kapde aur cheezey leke gayi hai. Baki unke dresses aur sab ek suitcase mey daal kar unki key dadi ko dene ke liya kaha tha".
"Tikke tum jaa sakti ho" he said his voice coarse with emotion.
After the servant left, Shivaay locked door he rested on it and puffed in some air. Why would she do this that too in the morning? He recalled how she was always hinting on separation for the past 2 days.
He opened his wardrobe, nothing, only his clothes. Not a trace of her. The room was thoroughly cleaned, bedsheets and covers washed. The floor was scrubbed and polished. Even her fragrance had left, leaving him with nothing to hang on.
He noticed a box lying on his bed. The contents stabbed another knife into his already bleeding heart. Divorce papers.Signed, Mangulsutra, The engagement ring and the Kangans.
Shivaay sighed. She had done this. Faked this all. But why?
He had changed, a lot and was still trying. He had fallen terribly for her. Why had she left him alone?
Tear drops constantly falling Shivaay placed his head on the bed. The alcohol kicking in, he fell into a dreamless slumber.
...
Breaking down in the middle of the road, Anika wailed bitterly. Her agony wasn't something that could be contained. The last thing she saw was a car speeding towards her before everything darkened out.
