The days passed by as Anika awaited Sahil's complete recovery. That day when Shivaay and Anika reached the hospital, the doctors had said that there was blood clot in his brain but after finally after 5 crucial hours the doctors declared that he was out of danger. Due to the injury Sahil couldn't speak or even move. He could just hear and see us.
Shivaay and Anika would go to the hospital daily after college and spend the rest of the day with him. Sahil's mom would also come to see him every day in the afternoon and bring food for him.
Anika had tried really hard to maintain her distance from Shivaay. But she failed miserably. They had gotten so close to each her that the moment Shivaay dropped her back home at night, she would start missing him.
*"Ouch" Shivaay examined the spot on his index finger where the needle had pricked him. He was cleaning up the table where Anika had made a mess of all the stitching materials available. She had taken up learning stitching to kill time as she waited in the hospital for Sahil to get completely recovered.
"What happened, Shivaay?" Anika who was busy hogging vada pav which Shivaay got her since she hadn't eaten anything since morning, ran and took his hand and looked at it. As the blood was oozing out, she took his finger in her mouth and sucked at the needle prick.
Shivaay looked at Anika intently. He smiled seeing how she cared for him. It was true that 3 years back he had broken her heart. But little did she know that how much it hurt him to do that. He had thought that it was for the best but as months passed by he realised how wrong he was.
When Shivaay realised that they had joined the same college after high school, he was convinced that this was destiny giving him another chance to rectify his mistake. But when Anika ignored him when they had bumped into each other the first day, she had acted like she didn't know Shivaay at all. He lost his hope. A part of him told that she was ignoring him because he had told her that it was best if we stayed away from each other. But the other part told him that it was because she really wanted nothing to do with him anymore. So he maintained his distance and kept a safe watch on her.
But finally when he saw how much of a bad state Anika was in, he couldn't stay away from her. He could see that Anika wanted someone. And he had promised himself that he would be there for her. And he was.
He pulled back his finger as Anika looked at him confused. "Eww Anika. Did you just..?"
Anika giggled as she understood what had irked Shivaay. She grabbed the first aid box and found a band aid.
As she bandaged Shivaay's finger she said, "I'm sorry. It was a reflex action. I know its gross and stuff but that's what my mom does when a needle pricks her finger. So even I just sucked it so that your finger stops bleeding."
"Anika you know how much I hate..."
"I know you're really hygienic and stuff. I'm sorry okay. There you go. Your finger is fine now." She said as he closed the first aid box and placed it back on the shelf.
Before he could say anything further, Anika left the room flashing him her khidkitod smile.
"Yeh ladki bhi na." Shivaay muttered to himself as he turned towards Sahil who had a small smile on his face. Shivaay went to him and ruffled his hair.
*"Shivaay!" Shivaay jumped as Anika suddenly yelled.
"Wha-What happened Anika?" He asked confused.
"Stop the car!" she said seriously.
"But why?"
"Just stop!" And the car came to a halt. Shivaay looked at her worried.
"Actually I - That." She said sheepishly. Shivaay followed her gaze and saw a Kulfi stand nearby.
Shivaay opened his mouth to say something but Anika had already scrambled out of the car and made her way towards the Kulfiwala.
Shivaay rolled his eyes and followed her.
"Two kulfis, bhaiya."
"I don't want any Anika."
"I know."
"What? Then why did you order two?"
"Umm. For myself?"
Shivaay folded his arms and was intently watching Anika savoring her kulfis. She had one in each hand and took turns to eat both.
On feeling Shivaay's gaze on her she raised her eyebrows.
"Aapko chahiye?"
"No. Roadside food.."
"I know. I know. That's why I didn't even bother to ask you if you wanted one." she said. "I knew Shivaay Singh Oberoi would never eat road-"
Before she could complete Shivaay grabbed a kulfi from her hand and had started eating it.
Anika looked at him her eyes wide in shock.
"One more bhaiya." Shivaay ordered.
"O bete ki! Aap kulfi- Apne-" She stuttered.
He smiled his playful smile and said pointing towards her kulfi, "It's melting."
Anika tried to eat it, but it had already melted. She threw the stick away and went back and sat in the car without another word.
Shivaay paid the kulfi wala and he went back and sat in the car. He looked at Anika who was clearly mad at him. Well, not really.
"Gussa ho, Anika?" Instead of replying Anika turned away and looked outside the window.
Shivaay stopped the car in front of Anika's house and before he could tell anything to Anika she jumped out of the car and went back home.
