Hi guys! Have been a very, very very old and silent reader of this forum! Am a die hard Ishqbaaaz and Shivika fan!
IB has somehow (barring a few episodes and tracks) never disappointed me- it's just been a perfect thing on any gloomy or sunny day! So here I am trying to give my two cents about this 'atrangi' character called Annika!
Off late we all have been really baffled by Annika's questions to SSO regarding his views on NKK! They are touching base on the issue that has been their core conflict, and as much as I love the changed SSO, I cannot help but relate to Annika at this very moment! Here are a few things I have decoded that somewhat justifies her anger today!
Scene 1: Patni or NKK
"Kya aap mujhe abhi apni patni mantey hai?" When the NKK truth came out, Annika was extremely sure that she would lose out on Shivaay! Therefore when he came back to her she almost started to breathe again! In her heart she only wanted to know if he still considers her as his wife! And when he did it was like she got air to breathe. For her Shivaay chose her and she was cocooned in his arms!
Scene 2: And she RAN, as fast as she could! Why?
When she heard Shivaay rant about his need to know about her khoon, khandan etc. it was punch on her heart again! None of us know how much she heard, but the fact that she heard him pour his heart out to OmRu, was enough for her to think that he cannot take this relationship forward. Yes, in present she was his biwi, but the future was now a question mark, and therefore she hit back in a way which most of us would do, she ran! She ran from her insecurities, her fear, from the man who holds the reigns of her life at the moment.
Scene 3: Shivaay: I need time to change. Annika: I am Annika, I cannot change!
"I can fight the entire world, I can fight with myself, with God but I don't have it in me to fight against you!"
Annika has always been a fighter, always! And since the day she realized her love for SSO, she has never ever tried to show that love to him. She has fought that battle within her! Yes, they had their moments, but almost all these moments have been initiated by SSO. She has a heart of steel, and once she has convinced herself of something she will not falter. That's what we saw here. When she broke down in his arms, she was not just telling him about her struggle, she was reminding herself about all her fights and how this man brings out all her insecurities, her fear, her loss! Thus she stresses here that do as you like, take your time to change because ultimately whether I have a NKK or not, I will not accept that and walk forward. I am who I am and that can't change. At this moment I felt she knows how he will not let this issue go without his jasoosi and she just assures him that come what may from this investigation she is going to be SIRF ANNIKA! That's her identity, and be it a Bajaj or a Naintara it ain't going to affect her stance on her own identity! This wasn't about SSO changing or not, it was about her not faltering from what she has built with her bare hands!
Scene 4: Annika, the Angry Bird!
The scene that has got most of us irritated with regards to Annika's hypocrisy, where at one end she is investigating about Mahi and the next she is calling him out for being a Jasoos.
Honestly, at a point I was irritated with Annika too! She was being unfair to him. But when I took a moment to think from her perspective, I felt like giving her a leeway here too! Ask why?
Yes, she was upset, he didn't ask her about it and involved Sahil! I should go back to the kitchen scene where she again ran off because he didn't confide in her, instead chose his brothers! In the same way he didn't come to her for this too. Annika has always, I repeat always confided in Shivaay. Whenever she has done her jasoosi, her first instinct is to tell him! And this is what bothers her (Be it in the Mahi case too). And just because of this for her, this entire investigation comes across as something that will at some point decide the future of their relationship! Let's not forget that Shivaay, has never out loud told her that "come what may from this Investigation of mine, it's not going affect our present and future." I am stressing on the future here because we all know what comes next for them as a married couple. Their kids. Yes, he can accept her as his biwi, but for SSO to carry forward his lineage with Annika, someone who doesn't have a NKK, that's the answer she is looking for! Her addressing the power play of their relationship, the decision making dynamics in their relationship all indicates that somewhere in her head she expects that with her bad past will follow her bad future, one without SSO in it.
I also believe there is a simple solution to it: @SSO you need to tell your wife what's in your heart and mind behind this investigation. Express so that your biwi understands. I also, love how subtly and beautifully the makers have bought about such a major conflict of everyday relationships. For some people it's all about understanding, whilst for some people it's all about expressing in words or gestures!
Scene 5: Shivaay v/s Annika as Jasoos!
Last but not the least, coming to Mahi's part I believe that for Annika, it's important to know Mahi's connect with the family. She knows Shivaay's love and protectiveness towards his family and all she wants to do is confirm if Mahi is a part of that circle too. She knows it would kill Shivaay to have his khoon, own blood suffering somewhere while he could something about it. She very clearly says to herself that whatever maybe the result she is with him and will support him. She has never thought of Mahi as an illegitimate yet, she is thinking more of blood, twin! Somebody who has been denied the Oberoi privileges which will kill Shivaay!
Whereas if we come to other spectrum, she is clueless of how Shivaay would react when he would get to know of her not-so rich and classy background! (Worse case scenario) This either coming to play because she knows and is running away from her NKK, because of something terrible associated with it or she believes that her bad luck is so bad she will end up with the worse story!
Whatever be it. We all know, end game is Shivika. Don't know what major dynamics will change with the jungle sequence, but I do know that come what may Shivika are going to come out of this unscathed and strong!
P.S : I know this was too long! But just had to! I feel like a spokesperson for Annika. But I love her and SC who has brought this character to life!
