First Memory - I Never Wanted To Hurt You.
"Hey Riddhima, have you seen Gauri anywhere?" Om asked Riddhima who was heading towards their class. She had walked a little ahead. Taking some steps back, she turned towards him. He looked at her in anticipation that she might, would be able to help him in finding Gauri.
Riddhima stared at him for a moment before her reply came in utmost coldest tone, "Why should I tell you? Do you want to do anything more? Kuch aur karna baki reh gaya tha?" She snapped at him, throwing disgusting looks at him.
Closing his eyes, he looked visibly guilty and ashamed. "Riddhima, please... I just want to apologize." Clarifying why he was searching for Gauri, he told her in a feeble voice. She didn't look convinced instead, she narrowed her eyes at him, disapproving his clarification.
"Riddhimaaa," Om nearly shouted, as he was losing his patience seeing no response from Riddhima. Taking a step forward, he grabbed her arm, "Riddhima, please, right now, I need to talk to her. Will you help me or not?" He almost pleaded her for letting him know about Gauri's whereabouts.
Riddhima looked at him once before she removed his hand from her arm and she walked away. He hung his head down, in disappointment. Helplessness was clearly visible over his face.
"Fire escape," she uttered without turning back and walked straight. Her voice sounded no less than melody to his ears that time.
Mumbling a thank you', he ran towards fire escape and found her sitting there, on opening the door. She seemed lost in her own world. The thoughts had occupied her mind so much that she failed to acknowledge his presence. She couldn't even realize the sound of the opening door.
"Gauri," he called out for her making her break her trance. She tilted her head towards the voice, looking for the owner of it. The soon she turned; he glanced at her face which had become red. Her eyes were red. She surely had cried a lot. He could see the dried tears on her cheeks.
She returned back to her original position. Picking up her bag from the floor, she stood up to leave. She merely had walked few steps when she felt his grip on her hand. She couldn't take a step further. He pulled her down, and made her sit on the stars of fire exit and he himself settled beside her. To his surprise, she didn't struggle much. She seemed too pale and weak to resist his anything.
"Look. I am really very sorry, for what happened yesterday. I seriously had no idea it would end up there. We were just playing some pranks but.." he stopped as he felt she was not listening to his apology and explanation.
"What are you saying sorry for?" she asked him, not understanding the one who was so much enjoying playing pranks on her yesterday, now suddenly was feeling bad for doing that.
He looked down hearing her question. He couldn't understand what to say and how to say. "Wo, .actually... umm.. this," saying this, he forwarded a diary towards her.
Her eyes widen the moment she saw her personal diary in his hands. She snatched it from him and stared at him, with confusion, anger and much more.
"Don't get me wrong. I didn't steal it. You unknowingly dropped this yesterday and before I could return this to you, you had left" he said, defending himself in front of her. She nodded, accepting that she must have dropped it. Yesterday, she had almost run from college, without realizing anything.
"Did you read it?" she narrowed her eyes at him. She looked shocked. He smiled forcefully, guiltily and sheepishly.
"No...actually, just two pages which fell down from this diary," he told her honestly, fearing of her reaction after knowing he now knows much about her.
"In which, you have written, why you have phobia of water. Then I understood why were you so scared in swimming pool yesterday. See I am really very very sorry. Please forgive me. I never wanted to hurt you." He took her palm, softly in his hand, slightly rubbing it with his thumb. He was feeling really guilty for pulling up that prank on her yesterday.
Flashback:
It was Gauri's first day in her college. She seemed to be a reserved kind of person. Being her first day, some students came there to rag her. She was already so scared and those guys made her literally shiver in fear.
She tried moving away from them but they blocked her, not letting her go. The crowd had surrounded them. It wasn't new for them. Those guys were pranksters but they never intended to hurt anyone. All what they wanted was fun.
"What's going on here?" Omkara Singh Oberoi stepped inside the crowd, pushing the guys who had blocked Gauri's way.
"Hey Om! New admission. We are just making her comfortable," one of them answered, winking eyes.
Om was against ragging. His eyes fell upon the delicate doll standing in front of him. He had not seen such a beautiful girl in his life so far. His lost figure startled as he heard the voices around him.
"See, it's very simple... you just have to go and bring that lotus from the swimming pool," one guy told her what she had to do.
Everyone took a sigh of relief. It wasn't a hard task. But fear on her face increased even more. Her body shivered when her eyes caught the sight of swimming pool. Om was observing her every reaction. He could not understand why she was reacting that way.
She turned towards those guys saying, "Sorry... I... I can...I cannot." Her words stammered.
"It's nothing, see its very easy." A girl came forward and without a second thought she pushed her in the swimming pool. Everyone present there laughed at that act.
Om somewhat was lost thinking about her.
"What the hell? She doesn't know swimming." A voice came from behind. Om turned and found Riddhima there. Her sentence sent shivers down his spine. He glanced at swimming pool and saw her drowning. He took no time to jump in. Swimming towards her as fast as he could, brought her out of swimming pool. Riddhima rushed forward to check if Gauri was alright or not.
"Gauri, are you okay?" Riddhima put her hand on Gauri's shoulder. Gauri, who was still shivering, nodded a little. Riddhima gave her a relieved smile. Gauri, pushed Om aside and ran from there without turning back even once.
"Gauri... Gauri..." Riddhima tried stopping Gauri but she was quick enough to vanish from there. Om stood there, clueless.
"Thadd," Riddhima turned and slapped Om.
"You shouldn't have done that," Riddhima said before she left the place.
End of the Flashback:
Gauri found his apology very sincere and a genuine one. She carefully took her hand back and said, "It's okay"
Om smiled widely realizing she had actually forgiven him. He forwarded his hand towards her, "Friends?"
She wasn't sure about accepting his friendship. She looked at him, hesitatingly.
"I promise I will never hurt you neither will let anyone else to." He once again made her heart smile with his words. He didn't seem that bad. She wasn't the one to trust everyone and go on friendly with everyone but her heart wanted to trust him, her heart wanted to accept his friendship.
She nodded before she gave him, her hand. Both smiled.
A friendship had started!!!
